Alpha's Secret Bride

Chapter 323: Back Where They Belonged

The news spread through Nightclaw Estate faster than anyone expected.

By the time Brandon and Emma stepped out of the chamber hand in hand, several servants along the corridor had already heard what had happened. The moment they saw the Alpha King and Queen Luna walking toward them together, conversation faded, and the hallway fell unusually quiet.

One of the older housekeepers lowered her head, quickly wiping the corner of her eye before looking up at them again.

"I knew you would find your way back to each other," she whispered.

Several of the other servants smiled through their tears. They had watched Brandon wander through the estate alone every day after returning, carrying the weight of everything he couldn’t explain. They had also seen Emma leave for winters with heartbreak written across her face. Seeing the two of them walking together again felt like watching the moonrise after a very long winter.

Emma looked at the staff and smiled warmly.

"Thank you... for taking care of him."

The elderly housekeeper gave a soft laugh. "We tried, my Queen Luna."

She glanced at Brandon before adding, "But he never really let anyone."

Brandon rubbed the back of his neck, looking slightly embarrassed.

"I wasn’t that difficult."

Several servants exchanged amused glances.

No one said a word.

They didn’t have to.

Bryan looked from the servants to his parents before tugging gently on Brandon’s sleeve.

"Father?"

Brandon looked down at him. "Yes?"

"Does this mean Mother has forgiven you?"

Brandon’s eyes immediately went to Emma.

He didn’t answer. He had waited months for her to make her own choice, and this was no different.

Emma reached down and gently touched Bryan’s shoulder.

"Yes."

Bryan’s face lit up. He threw both arms around his parents at once, pulling them closer with all the strength his little arms could manage.

"I told Charlotte we’d come home!"

Charlotte hurried into the embrace, wrapping her arms around them as well.

"Home!"

Emma laughed through her tears as Brandon pulled both pups closer. The four of them stood together in the middle of the corridor, surrounded by smiling servants who quietly stepped back and gave them the moment.

For the first time in many months, there was no distance between them.

And no one wanted to let go.

A few minutes later, one of the servants announced that breakfast was ready. They sat together at the table, and for a while, none of them seemed to know what to say. They simply ate in the comfortable quiet until Brandon’s Beta entered the chamber and leaned down to whisper something in his ear.

Brandon listened, then leaned toward him and quietly replied. His Beta nodded before straightening and leaving the chamber with a smile.

After breakfast, Brandon led Emma and the pups out into the garden. Bryan and Charlotte ran off to play almost immediately, leaving Emma and Brandon sitting together beneath the shade of the trees. She leaned gently against his shoulder, and he rested his arm around her.

"I thought you were supposed to be somewhere an hour ago," she whispered.

He glanced down at her with a small smile. "This is where I’m supposed to be. Beside you, my Queen."

She looked up at him. "Well, I overheard you say you would be there in an hour."

"Yes. It’s a council meeting, but the High Luna has taken care of it. We’ll go together tomorrow. Today’s meeting is with my Queen." He gave the last words a dramatic tone, making Emma laugh.

They spent the rest of the day together, talking about everything and nothing. There were moments when tears returned, moments when they laughed, and moments when they simply sat beside each other without needing to fill the silence.

---

That moonfall, the feeding hall felt alive again.

Their usual feeding table was no longer large enough for the four of them, so it was replaced with a longer one. The table that had once seemed too big now fit them perfectly, with enough space for everyone to sit comfortably.

Bryan sat beside Brandon, eagerly talking about school while Charlotte insisted on sitting between her parents. Every few minutes, she reached for one of their hands, as if making sure neither of them would disappear again.

Neither of them pulled away.

"Father, are you going to take me to school on Monday?" Bryan asked.

"Of course, Your Highness. Why do you ask?"

Bryan lowered his eyes to his plate for a moment before looking back at him. "My classmates’ parents always bring them to school, but only Mother brings me. They thought maybe I did something bad to you and you left."

Brandon’s expression softened. He reached across and rested a hand on Bryan’s shoulder.

"I’m going to prove them wrong. From now on, we’re going to take you to school together."

He glanced at Emma, and she gave him a soft nod.

"Yes, Your Highness. Your father is back now. I hope you won’t cry again."

Bryan shook his head. "I didn’t cry because of Father. I cried because of what they said about me."

Brandon nodded, understanding the difference.

"It’s all right. On Monday, they’re going to see me, and I hope that answers their questions."

Bryan smiled, then pointed his fork at him. "Yes, but... come as my father, not as the Alpha King."

Brandon raised an eyebrow.

"Why did you say that?"

"Because none of them know who I am, and I like it that way."

Brandon glanced across the table at Emma, who was already laughing.

"Like father, like son."

Bryan Oliver was the younger version of Brandon in more ways than one. He didn’t want to be popular or treated differently because of who his father was. He simply wanted to be himself and enjoy a quiet, ordinary life.

Halfway through dinner, Charlotte looked up from her food.

"Mother?"

"Yes, Princess?"

"Are we leaving tomorrow?"

The question stole the smiles from the table.

Emma reached across and gently took Brandon’s hand before answering. Her thumb brushed over his fingers as she looked at Charlotte.

"No."

Charlotte blinked.

"No?"

She smiled.

"We’re home now."

Charlotte’s little face broke into the biggest smile imaginable. She clapped her hands happily.

"No more go."

"No more go," she smiled.

Brandon looked at her across the table. This time, there was no fear in her eyes, only trust.

Not because the past had disappeared, but because they had chosen to face the future together.

After dinner, Bryan challenged Brandon to yet another game of chess while Charlotte curled up beside Emma with a storybook. Brandon deliberately sacrificed his queen, and Bryan noticed immediately. He leaned closer to the board and looked at his father suspiciously.

"You let me take it."

He smiled. "Did I?"

"You did." Bryan folded his arms, studying the board before looking back at him. "I want to win for real."

Brandon’s smile widened as he leaned back in his chair. "Then play again."

Emma watched them with quiet amusement. Nothing had really changed. Brandon was still teaching, Bryan was still learning, and Charlotte was still interrupting every few minutes with questions that had nothing to do with chess. Yet as she watched them, she found herself appreciating those ordinary moments more than she ever had before. They were the moments they had almost lost forever.

Much later that moonfall, after the pups had fallen asleep in their own chambers, Emma stepped onto the balcony outside their bedchamber. The cool breeze carried the scent of blooming jasmine through the air as she rested her hands on the stone railing and looked across the quiet estate. Brandon joined her a moment later, stopping beside her.

"I used to stand here every moonfall," he said, his eyes remaining on the gardens.

"I know."

He turned to her, his brows lifting slightly. "You knew?"

She nodded toward the opposite side of the estate. "From my balcony."

A soft laugh escaped her, and she wiped away one of the tears that had gathered at the corner of her eye. "So we were watching each other."

"Every moonfall."

Brandon slipped his hand into hers, gently threading their fingers together as he looked down at them. "I’m sorry."

She gave a small shake of her head and tightened her fingers around his. "You have nothing to apologize for."

"I doubted you," she admitted, her voice quieter now.

"You had every reason to," he said, turning toward her.

She squeezed his hand. "I don’t want us to have secrets anymore."

"We won’t."

"No matter how difficult the truth is, no matter how much it hurts..." She paused and looked into his eyes. "We face it together."

He held her gaze for a moment before giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "Together."

He lifted her hand and pressed a soft kiss to her knuckles, then lowered it without letting go. She watched him with a small smile before resting her head against his shoulder.

"I can keep that promise," he said quietly.

"I know," she whispered.

A few minutes later, he winked at her, and she understood immediately. He slipped an arm around her and carried her effortlessly into the chamber that had been prepared for them. After a long, warm bath, he lifted her from the tub and carried her to the dressing area, where he gently lowered her onto her feet. He wrapped a soft towel around her body before taking another one and carefully drying her damp hair. His fingers moved gently through the strands as he worked, and for a moment, neither of them said anything.

"I missed doing this for you," he said quietly. "For a long time."

She turned slightly toward him, a soft smile touching her lips. "Me too."

He kissed her lips and she kissed him back. They continued with the intense kissing until both of them couldn’t hold on much longer. He carried her to the bed and gently lowered her head on the pillow. After three winters apart, Emma’s body had tightened, and it took him time to claim her again. Pure evidence she never cheated on him. He was crying and at the same time happy that despite everything, she keeps loving him. He was thrusting and kissing her lips, neck and at some time sucked her boobs. He had missed those moments more than Emma could ever realize. He kept exploring and whispering sweet nothing into her ear. She was moaning and asking for more. After the fourth round, they finally collapsed side by side, breathing hard as they were mulling over what they had shared.

Emma leaned forward, her arm slipped around him, still breathing hard. Her chest rose and fell quickly as she tried to catch her breath. After a few moments, her breathing began to slow."

Brandon simply pulled the duvet up to their neck as they remained unclad.

"I’m sorry. It’s been a long time since we shared a moment like this."

"You don’t have to be sorry. I’m not complaining." She gave him an assuring smile.

He looked at her for a moment before gently touching her cheek. "I love you with all my heart, Moonheart."

She smiled and leaned forward to kiss his lips. "I love you more, Starlit."

His smile faded slightly. "I was afraid I was going to lose you."

Emma gave a soft laugh and shook her head. "You really think I could just give another man the place you have in my heart? Brandon Oliver Frostbane, if you hadn’t come back, I would have remained a single mother for the rest of my life."

He closed his eyes for a moment before opening them again. "But you gave me severance papers to sign."

She raised an eyebrow. "Did you even read what was inside?"

He frowned. "What exactly was in those papers?"

She smiled faintly. "You never read them?"

"I couldn’t."

"Why?"

He looked down at her. "Because I thought they were telling me you wanted me gone."

She gently touched his hand. "They weren’t."

His eyes lifted to hers.

"Then what were they?"

"A way for me to make sure you understood that I wasn’t giving up on us."

He stared at her, completely caught off guard.

She smiled through the tears in her eyes. "You were so determined to believe I wanted you gone that you never stopped to see that I wasn’t giving up on our mate bond."

He looked at her for a long moment before giving a quiet, regretful laugh. "I spent so much time trying to find my way back to you that I never stopped to ask what you wanted from me."

He squeezed her hand gently, and she rested her head against his chest as they settled beneath the covers. His arm slipped around her, pulling her closer while the quiet of Nightclaw Estate settled around them. In the nursery down the hall, Bryan and Charlotte slept soundly, knowing both their parents were under the same roof once more.

Outside, the moon shone brightly over the kingdom.

For the first time in a very long while, it no longer watched over a broken family.

Tonight, Brandon and Emma were together beneath the same roof, with their pups sleeping peacefully down the hall.
