Bella didn’t seem to care about what everyone else was saying.
She believed her actions would make a difference. Those with a sense of responsibility would follow the advice on the banner, which would ultimately reduce Enzo’s workload.
When she spotted him, she walked over.
Just like before, she was carrying a bag of food.
"You must be hungry after working all day. Make sure you finish it," she said, handing him the bag.
Enzo accepted it with a smile.
"Thank you."
He didn’t think there was any need to mention the banner.
He wanted to respect Bella’s effort to help him.
"By the way, don’t push yourself too hard. You don’t look like you’re in your best condition," he added.
Being full of energy didn’t mean one’s body wasn’t exhausted. Fighting from morning until afternoon and then continuing again at night was extremely taxing for beginners.
"Don’t worry. I’m an A-Class Knight. These Goblins aren’t enough to threaten me," Bella replied confidently.
She immediately headed toward one of the prison cells.
Enzo shook his head and returned to his post.
He took a shower, changed into a fresh set of clothes, and then ate.
Afterward, he relaxed on his bed while drinking the iced milk coffee Bella had bought for him.
With a cigarette in hand, his thoughts began to wander.
He had finally realized something.
As long as the System screen was active in front of him, anyone he looked at could receive a copy of his System Game.
They would gain their own screen, keyboard, and mouse.
In fact, they could even create their own characters.
They wouldn’t feel any connection to Enzo, aside from knowing that whenever their character leveled up, they would also level up—as long as their own level matched.
Of course, they would still know the System wasn’t truly theirs.
After all, their own Systems would tell them the truth.
Enzo couldn’t simply choose people at random.
There was no limit to how many players he could recruit, but if too many people suddenly obtained the System, it would inevitably attract the Association’s attention and trigger an investigation.
What he needed was someone who would genuinely devote themselves to developing their character—someone willing to spend their own SP on it.
Would anyone really do that while knowing it would also benefit someone else?
"Oh..."
Enzo suddenly straightened his back when he heard the heavy footsteps coming from above the hill where Violet was hiding.
He couldn’t see what it was because the System screen had automatically narrowed its view to the area surrounding Violet.
The only way to detect anything beyond that was through sound.
Without question, it was a large monster.
At the very least, Violet’s perception allowed her to estimate its size and exact location.
"Attack immediately!"
Enzo rapidly pressed several keys on the keyboard while clicking the mouse.
There was no need to see the target.
As long as Violet attacked, her strike would automatically aim for the enemy’s most vital point.
That was the greatest advantage of an Assassin.
Anyone else would have needed to see the target first.
Black markings spread across Violet’s body as she leaped forward with her dagger.
The branches concealing the cave entrance were blasted aside by her momentum.
The star-filled night sky came into view, allowing Enzo to finally see what stood above.
It was a cow.
An actual cow—not some humanoid creature.
It stood nearly four meters tall, making it look as massive as a truck.
DING!
(Level 18 Monster!)
The notification appeared.
Enzo couldn’t help smiling.
From what he had heard, monsters like this weren’t particularly powerful.
They were generally considered no more dangerous than Goblins.
However, killing them came with a unique benefit.
Their meat could be sold for a respectable price.
Even if only the thighs were valuable, that was still a considerable amount.
Restaurants didn’t buy the entire carcass because cooking monster meat required specialized techniques, and at present, only certain cuts could be prepared safely.
The dagger in Violet’s hand struck the underside of the cow’s body, just below its neck.
The flesh split apart instantly, as though it had been cut by a much larger blade.
In the blink of an eye, its heart was exposed and ripped apart before Violet’s dagger even physically reached it.
Booom!
A massive jet of blood erupted from the shattered heart straight toward Violet.
Fortunately, she grabbed one of the cow’s legs and used it to pull herself aside, narrowly avoiding the crimson torrent.
DING!
(Your character has slain a Level 18 Monster. You and your character have gained 15,000 EXP!)
[EXP: 325,500/500,000]
This reward genuinely surprised Enzo.
It was a Level 18 monster, yet it only granted fifteen thousand EXP.
Worse still, there wasn’t a single point of SP.
BANG!
The enormous body crashed heavily onto the ground, fresh blood continuing to gush from the wound.
Violet stood beside it, calmly observing.
After waiting for the blood to stop flowing, she switched the dagger in her hand for her axe.
There was no point in taking the rest of the cow’s body.
It would only fill up her Storage Artifact.
After all, it wasn’t an unlimited storage space.
"Huh...?"
Enzo froze.
Violet had just stepped forward to cut off both hind legs when the carcass suddenly moved on its own.
And it moved surprisingly fast.
Looking closer, he noticed two incredibly thin mana threads wrapped around the cow’s head.
They looked exactly like Violet’s own threads.
They weren’t invisible, but they were so fine that they were almost impossible to notice.
In theory, mana threads naturally became thinner as an Awakener’s level increased.
Shua! Shua!
Enzo had no idea who was behind it.
Since the other party was using the same technique, he immediately had Violet fire two mana threads of her own, binding both of the cow’s hind legs.
The carcass stopped moving.
Even so, Violet’s expression immediately turned serious.
The combined Strength of both herself and Enzo forced her to use every ounce of power just to resist the pull.
Then the pulling force suddenly became even stronger.
She was dragged forward by an entire step.
Although the other party was stronger, the gap wasn’t overwhelming.
Violet could still hold her ground.
"Idiot."
She snorted.
Sending her axe forward with another mana thread attached to it, she severed the cow’s neck with a single clean swing.
Whoosh!
The severed head was immediately yanked away at high speed, while the enormous body was pulled toward Violet instead.
Although she had no intention of storing the entire carcass, Violet had no choice but to temporarily place it inside her Storage Artifact first.
