Violet patted Eliza on the shoulder before giving her a smile.
Eliza frowned at the gesture.
To her, it was rather disrespectful, but she wasn’t in a position to complain. Still, she couldn’t help but feel that Violet had some ulterior motive for doing it.
"You don’t want that video to get out, do you?" Violet said.
After saying that, she simply turned around and walked away.
William naturally found it strange as well.
"William, let’s go take a look at the tomb," Eliza said.
She had a certain feeling about this.
William nodded. He was curious too.
The two of them had never actually been there, but they had read all the available information about it.
Even after Violet had gone quite far away, passing several hills that blocked their view, Enzo could still see them through the screen.
He watched where they went.
He knew they would eventually head there anyway, not just because of Violet’s suspicious behavior. Even if they didn’t go there, someone else would eventually discover that the humanoid cat had died within their territory.
At that point, either William or Eliza would still suspect Violet.
Since she had already warned them, at least they would know to pretend they knew nothing about it.
Enzo didn’t care about them anymore.
Suddenly, he spotted another bridge not far ahead of Violet. It was also a wooden bridge, but this one was old and practically collapsed, held together only by several massive roots wrapped around it.
Those roots were most likely the result of someone’s power.
Violet headed toward the bridge.
If she didn’t cross it, how else could she reach Level 20 today?
She calmly stepped onto the bridge and began crossing it. However, her calmness was disrupted when Enzo noticed a small root suddenly moving rapidly toward Violet’s foot.
If he hadn’t been watching through the screen, even Violet’s instincts might not have detected it.
Click!
Enzo immediately pressed a button, and Violet leaped as high into the air as possible.
Whoosh!
The small root chased after her at incredible speed.
Shua! Shua! Shua!
Violet swung her dagger repeatedly, cutting through the root again and again. She wouldn’t become exhausted even if she had to make a thousand movements just to cut a single root.
However, dozens more roots suddenly came rushing toward her.
Enzo wondered who was behind this trap. Was it an Awakener, or perhaps a monster?
Even with more roots attacking, Violet could still cut through them.
A casual slash from her could sever ten roots at once.
But that only caused even more roots to attack.
When she landed back on the bridge, there was no longer any path for her to escape.
Roots attacked from every direction.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Balls of water emerged from the river and exploded, destroying the roots. It was Violet’s Water Boom skill.
With her enormous Mana pool, the skill was quite threatening thanks to its wide attack range.
A path opened up. Violet immediately moved backward, retreating from the bridge and returning to the original shore.
Stopping her escape wasn’t going to be that easy.
"You’re quite capable, little miss..." a hoarse voice echoed.
After that, Enzo saw root after root emerge around Violet.
They didn’t attack. Instead, they formed a cage around her, trapping her inside.
Violet’s expression darkened. How had things turned out like this?
The root cage even extended beneath the ground.
She was completely trapped.
Shua!
Violet slashed at the roots, but this time her eyes widened.
Her dagger cut through them, yet the roots immediately reconnected so quickly that even the word instantaneous wasn’t enough to describe it.
"Unfortunately, you won’t be able to escape anymore," the voice echoed again.
Of course, Enzo realized that this was the result of a considerable level difference.
A superior talent meant nothing if one’s stats were too low compared to the opponent.
Violet could still escape in Slime Mode, since she could squeeze through the gaps. However, she was worried that the tree would respond by creating a completely sealed cage.
At that moment, a tree-like figure suddenly appeared.
It was truly a tree, but it had a face, complete with eyes, a nose, a mouth, ears, legs, and arms.
"You?" Violet blurted out.
Since it could speak, was it an Awakener with a transformation ability?
After all, Violet herself could transform into a tree.
Of course, this one wasn’t a Demon Tree. It was an entirely different type of tree.
DING!
(Level 30 Monster Boss, Tree Father!)
The notification caused Enzo’s expression to change.
A boss.
This was actually a boss.
How unlucky was Violet to encounter one?
Normally, someone would have to venture much deeper into the Moba World to encounter a boss.
A Monster Boss wasn’t necessarily the strongest among all monsters. Of course, they were stronger than ordinary monsters, but that didn’t mean every ordinary monster was weaker than them.
Rather, what distinguished them was their intelligence and ability to speak.
They could scheme and use tricks. Most importantly, they could command other monsters as long as those monsters were no more than five levels above them.
Rumor had it that killing a Monster Boss would grant a tremendous amount of SP because killing one was considered one of the greatest contributions an Awakener could make.
"Little miss, I want you to help me, and I will definitely reward you," the tree-like figure said after appearing, surprising Violet once again.
"Help you? What do you need help with?" she asked.
Enzo scratched his head.
Even if Monster Bosses possessed intelligence, they were still monsters.
"There is something from your world that I want," the tree replied. "So far, you’re the only one who gives me the feeling that you won’t betray me."
Won’t betray me? Enzo found that strange.
Could the tree sense emotions?
But in the end, Violet was soulless. She was being controlled, so naturally, there was no desire to betray anyone in her mind.
"What do you want from my world?" Violet asked again.
"I want high-quality, hundred-year-old wine, or anything that contains it. For example, someone who once drank hundred-year-old wine. It doesn’t matter if they’re already dead or even if their corpse has already turned into a skeleton. Even their ashes will do. If they drank one liter during their lifetime, it will count."
"You?" Violet was stunned again.
What kind of bizarre request was this?
Why did the tree want hundred-year-old wine?
Would it make the tree stronger?
But high-quality hundred-year-old wine could be incredibly expensive per bottle. It might not even be sold normally and would instead be auctioned.
The money currently in Violet’s account might not even be enough to buy a single bottle.
"What will you give me in return?" Violet asked.
The tree had mentioned paying her.
That was certainly possible if the reward was worth it.
Enzo would figure out a way to obtain the wine.
"I don’t need it continuously, but I need quite a lot of it. For the first batch, if you can give me one ton, I will give you this. You Awakener people desperately want it."
The tree opened its mouth wide, revealing a crystal sphere marked with the number 21.
Violet’s eyes lit up when she saw it.
However, she only caught a glimpse of it before the tree closed its mouth again.
An Ascension Crystal.
The offer was far too tempting, especially since it was Level 21.
Enzo’s target for Violet was only Level 20. He knew that reaching Level 21 would be much more difficult.
"Let me go, and I’ll come back with one ton of high-quality hundred-year-old wine. But how do I know you won’t deceive me?" Violet asked.
Enzo was confident he could obtain it with enough effort.
But if this tree deceived him, he’d go insane.
"Hmph, hmph. Do you think I would deceive a weak little girl like you?" the tree snorted in response.
"If you don’t trust me, you can bring a stronger companion when we make the transaction. However, if the companion you bring is overwhelmingly stronger than me, don’t expect me to show myself."
"Fine..." Violet decided to agree.
At least the tree really had what she wanted.
"Go. I’ll give you until tomorrow. If you fail, the deal is off," the tree said.
At that moment, the wooden cage sank back into the ground, freeing Violet.
"I’ll be back tomorrow morning," Violet said before running rapidly toward Sanctuary.
Back at her post, Enzo lit another cigarette.
One ton.
He couldn’t even imagine how much wine that would require.
That was basically 1,000 liters.
Where was he supposed to get that much?
Violet arrived at Sanctuary not long afterward.
Her expression darkened.
She had overheard several people talking about Augus, who had finally reached Level 31.
He had already accumulated enough EXP. All he needed were a Longevity Stone and a Diamond Backbone.
After fusing with both of them, he naturally advanced to Level 31.
His strength had increased dramatically, and there was now nothing preventing him from continuing to level up all the way to Level 40.
Fortunately, Violet was still in Invisible Mode.
She immediately headed toward the portal leading to Z City.
For now, Enzo had only one idea in mind.
A wealthy person’s funeral.
After all, wine and corpses that had once consumed wine were essentially the same thing.
