Violet finally appeared on Earth for the first time.
Through the screen, Enzo could see the area surrounding the portal.
The city of Z lay ahead, while gardens and farmland stretched out behind it. Most of the land was covered in vineyards.
There were only grapes here, however. The wine-making facilities were located somewhere else.
Who knew whether they had any hundred-year-old wine?
Violet walked into a small convenience store nearby. She revealed herself and put on a pair of large sunglasses.
They were just one of the items provided by John Martin, the Marketing Director of Star Fashion Company.
Violet kept her cloak on.
She entered the convenience store and picked up several things, including cigarettes.
Enzo was deliberately having Violet do random things just to test how well he could control her while she was on Earth.
Everything worked perfectly.
Violet then got into a taxi whose driver was busy playing online poker on his phone.
"Take me to the richest cemetery in this city," Violet said.
Even Enzo didn’t know where that was.
The driver was startled, utterly shocked that he hadn’t even noticed someone getting into his car.
Violet’s appearance impressed him, but he also sensed a dangerous aura from her, making him realize that this attractive young woman was an Awakener.
Of course, with a portal nearby, there were plenty of Awakeners coming and going.
"Miss, did you say the richest cemetery?" The driver wanted to make sure he had heard correctly, since he’d been too focused on his phone earlier.
"Yes," Violet replied curtly before resting her head against her arm.
The driver nodded and started driving.
He understood that this woman wasn’t much of a talker.
At this time of day, City Z was naturally somewhat congested, but the driver took Violet down a quieter road. It wasn’t long before Richard spotted a small green hill ahead, covered with gravestones.
It was surrounded by walls that emphasized how exclusive the place was.
There was also a funeral taking place in one corner, attended by people dressed in black who looked like elites—perhaps businessmen or city officials.
"Miss, this is the cemetery with the most expensive land in the city. It’s been that way for the past hundred years. Most of the wealthy people in City Z are buried here, including the bosses of major conglomerates." The driver stopped the car in front of the gate.
Violet paid him and immediately got out, waving for him to leave.
The gate was guarded by security personnel who checked everyone trying to enter. They naturally began watching Violet, who then lit a cigarette.
She was only doing it to make herself look more natural.
Enzo wondered how Violet was supposed to dig up the graves. During the day, and perhaps even at night, it wouldn’t be easy with so many CCTV cameras around.
Security like this was only natural. Some corpses might be buried with valuables such as gold and silver. Wealthy people could easily take jewelry worth tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars into their graves.
’If only Violet had Charlotte’s Earth Controller Talent,’ Enzo thought.
Charlotte was the one who had obtained that Talent. He had never considered trading for it before.
’Still, Demon Tree Transformation should be enough.’
That was what made him confident that this plan would work.
A tree might not be an earth controller, but its roots were buried underground.
The roots of a Demon Tree could naturally extend and move beneath the earth. As long as Violet had enough Mana, it wouldn’t be a problem.
Since Violet had been standing there for a while, one of the security guards eventually approached her.
"Miss, what are you looking for? Are you here to visit the cemetery?" the security guard asked politely.
Violet was simply too beautiful. And there was no need to mention her unusual clothing—the sunglasses alone were clearly high-end.
This was obviously a wealthy young lady, the security guard thought.
"Does coming here mean I’m going to the cemetery?" Violet replied, making the guard awkward.
Of course not. There were gardens around the area, along with a small river where many people were fishing.
It was just that no one usually stopped right in front of the cemetery gate.
Violet simply walked toward the river, whose bank ran directly alongside the cemetery wall.
Her footsteps were so light that the fishermen, completely focused on their floats, didn’t notice her.
The farther she went, the fewer fishermen there were.
Eventually, she reached an area covered with trees and tall grass. No one dared to enter because there were too many dangerous wild animals around, ranging from venomous snakes to lizards.
Violet accidentally stepped on the tail of a king cobra, which immediately tried to attack her.
But Violet easily caught it with one hand.
Whoosh!
She threw it high into the air, sending it toward the cemetery hill.
"Ahhhhh!"
A sudden scream rang out.
"Damn it! Run!"
"Security! Come quickly! There’s a snake here!"
Angry shouts echoed through the cemetery.
Enzo was left speechless.
Who would have thought the snake Violet threw would land directly on a fresh grave?
He shook his head. Once he realized Violet had reached an area where she couldn’t be seen, he activated Demon Tree Transformation.
Crack!
Her body immediately transformed. Her skin turned into bark, and she completely became a tree, growing to a height of ten meters.
It was a dark green tree with black vines hanging from its body. Strange fruits resembling apples but colored black grew from its branches.
Its roots were incredibly numerous, perhaps more than a hundred, with half of them extending underground.
Enzo could sense Violet’s perspective as a Demon Tree.
It was an incredibly strange sensation, almost too strange to describe.
But there was something astonishing about it as well.
As a tree, Violet seemed to have many more eyes. She could see her surroundings from every direction simultaneously. To her, there was no longer any concept of front, back, or sides.
Violet extended her roots, not deeper into the ground, but toward the hill beside her.
The hill might have been surrounded by walls, but those walls didn’t extend underground.
Through her roots, Violet could sense vitality.
She could clearly feel all kinds of worms beneath the soil, as though she were directly seeing every single one of them.
What amazed her most was that she could sense the corpses buried beneath the hill.
In theory, a corpse should simply be an empty shell. Yet even after their bodies had decomposed into the soil, traces of what had once been absorbed into them remained.
Those things hadn’t truly disappeared. They had become part of their bodies.
Every corpse seemed to have fused with thousands of different things.
Some were extremely familiar to Violet, such as wheat and meat.
Others gave her a sensation of abundant vitality or even heat.
Among them were also substances that smelled sweet and fragrant while carrying a strong sense of vitality.
The latter were clearly traces of hundred-year-old wine.
Violet could easily determine this because several coffins contained aged wine.
By comparing intact wine with the traces remaining within the corpses, Violet was able to calculate how much hundred-year-old wine each corpse had once consumed.
Crack!
One root easily pierced through a coffin, wrapped around the skeleton inside, and pulled it out.
The corpse alone had absorbed the equivalent of about five liters of hundred-year-old wine.
Violet’s Storage Artifact had now fused with the center of her tree body. Unless she brought the corpse closer, she couldn’t transfer it into the artifact.
Sometimes, the coffins were already too old and fragile. In those cases, Violet simply pulled them out together with the corpses.
’Any wealthy person who was fond of drinking wine probably tried hundred-year-old wine at least once,’ Enzo thought.
If they hadn’t, they could only be described as excessively stingy with their money.
Someone truly wealthy might drink nothing but hundred-year-old wine, allowing a substantial amount to accumulate within their body over the course of their lifetime.
Gathering one ton here was actually not difficult at all.
Violet focused on the corpses that gave her the strongest sensations.
One corpse after another—or sometimes an entire coffin—was pulled from beneath the ground beside her Demon Tree body.
They disappeared into her Storage Artifact almost immediately after emerging.
Enzo wasn’t particularly interested in examining them.
However, he had to admit that he could sense plenty of jewelry being stored alongside the corpses.
The more corpses Violet retrieved, the more jewelry she accumulated.
The original plan had been to obtain just one ton of hundred-year-old wine.
But that plan quickly changed.
Violet continued taking corpses as long as she had enough Mana. Occasionally, she would stop for a short while before resuming.
Even the corpses from the freshly dug graves weren’t spared.
She was going to empty the entire hill of its dead.
The accumulated jewelry alone seemed to be worth millions of dollars.
And the amount of hundred-year-old wine she collected wasn’t merely one ton.
It reached a staggering five tons.
Enzo couldn’t help but smile.
One ton was only the initial transaction.
Perhaps Tree Father wanted to conduct a trial first.
Afterward, it would definitely ask for more.
