Sayma stood in the center of the room. The intelligent Vice-Captain pushed her thick glasses up the bridge of her nose. She thrust her hands forward. A brilliant golden honeycomb barrier protected the team. The green energy blasts slammed into the golden light. Sparks flew everywhere.

"Do not let them surround us!" Sayma commanded politely. Her voice was totally firm. "Maintain the defensive perimeter!"

Laxmi dashed forward. The fire user wore a massive, excited grin. She punched her open palm. Bright orange flames roared to life around her hands. "I am going to roast them!" Laxmi cheered loudly. She threw a gigantic fireball across the room. The flames hit three guards. The guards flew backward and crashed into a metal wall.

Zinia stomped her boots onto the floor. The strong earth mage pulled up solid slabs of rock. She used the rocks to block incoming magic bullets. She moved with incredible confidence.

Ira stood perfectly still. Her pale face showed zero emotion. She swung two high-pressure water whips. The water cracked loudly like real leather. She tripped charging guards. She slammed them onto the ground. "Statistically speaking, their firing accuracy is decreasing," Ira stated in her robotic voice.

Luna rubbed her sleepy eyes. The lightning user let out a massive yawn. She pointed two fingers at the ceiling. "Zap," she mumbled lazily. A jagged bolt of yellow electricity shot across the room. It shocked a group of guards holding rifles. The guards dropped their weapons and fell unconscious.

Naomi moved like a red-haired blur. Green wind magic swirled around her boots. She spun her twin silver daggers. She sliced through the enemy weapons with flawless precision. She dodged a green energy blast. She kicked a guard squarely in the chest.

Naomi quickly glanced over her shoulder. She wanted to check the back corner of the laboratory.

A large metal desk sat in the corner. Ken’s magical clone crouched underneath the desk. The clone looked exactly like him. It wore the same wrinkled navy blue suit. It had the same messy black hair. The clone wrapped its arms tightly around its head. It peeked out with wide, panicked eyes.

"Ahhhh! So many lasers!" the clone yelled loudly. Its voice cracked with fake terror. "Please do not shoot the desk! I am just a guy in a suit! I do not like loud noises! This is a terrible place for a nap!"

Naomi smiled a very warm, friendly smile. She felt a deep sense of relief. He was completely safe. He was just staying out of the way. She liked knowing he was protected. She turned her attention back to the fight. She dashed forward and disarmed another guard.

At that exact moment, the real Ken Eliot slipped back into the primary laboratory.

He moved through the dark shadows near the back wall. He did not make a single sound. He approached the metal desk. The real Ken seamlessly merged with his magical clone.

The clone dissolved into harmless, invisible mana. It popped out of existence. The real Ken instantly took its place. He crouched under the desk. He wrapped his arms over his head. The swap was absolutely flawless. Nobody in the room noticed a thing. The transition was perfect.

Ken peeked his head out from under the desk. He watched his friends fight. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small piece of strawberry candy. He unwrapped it and popped it into his mouth. He chewed it slowly.

"They are doing a great job," Ken thought lazily. He leaned his back against the metal desk leg. "I am very glad I do not have to run around like that. Sweating is very uncomfortable."

Suddenly, the enemy guards stopped firing.

The Ashura soldiers looked confused. They tapped their earpieces. They listened for orders from the core chamber. But there were no orders. The five commanders were completely gone. The communication channel was dead silent.

The guards panicked. They did not know what to do. They lost their coordination entirely. They started backing away. They bumped into each other. They fired their rifles randomly at the ceiling.

Princess Iris noticed the sudden change. Her violet eyes scanned the chaotic enemy formation. She held her silver rapier tightly.

"Their command structure just collapsed!" Princess Iris announced clearly. Her voice echoed over the loud sirens. "They are completely disorganized! Vanguard, push forward! Finish this fight!"

"You got it, Princess!" Laxmi roared happily. She unleashed a massive wave of roaring orange fire.

Naomi dashed through the disorganized guards. She spun her daggers with lightning speed. She incapacitated the confused soldiers one by one. Zinia crushed their weapons with solid stone blocks. Ira swept their legs with her water whips.

The battle turned into an absolute rout. Without their commanders, the guards had no strategy. They could not handle the elite skills of the 13th Unit.

In less than three minutes, the fight was completely over.

The last Ashura guard dropped his rifle and fell to the floor unconscious. The laboratory went quiet. The bright red emergency lights stopped flashing. The loud security siren finally shut off.

The elite girls stood in the middle of the room. They breathed very fast. They wiped sweat from their foreheads. They looked at the defeated guards covering the floorboards. They had won. The massive ambush was totally dismantled.

Sayma lowered her hands. The glowing golden honeycomb barrier dissolved into thin air. She pushed her glasses up and let out a long sigh of relief. "The area is completely secure. We neutralized all immediate threats."

Ken crawled slowly out from under the metal desk. He dusted off his navy blue suit pants. He slouched his shoulders as far as they could possibly go. He let out a massive, dramatic groan.

"Finally," Ken complained loudly. He walked toward the center of the room. He dragged his cheap shoes on the floor. Scuff. Scuff. Scuff. "My knees are incredibly sore. Hiding under a desk is a massive workout. I need a comfortable chair. And I really need a large slice of pizza."

Naomi turned around and laughed softly. She walked over and playfully nudged his arm. "You did great, slacker. You stayed out of the way. I am proud of you."

"I am a professional bystander," Ken grinned a goofy grin. He shoved his hands deep into his pockets. "I will gladly accept a slice of pizza as a reward for my excellent hiding skills."

The team relaxed. The intense danger had passed. They started checking the room for any remaining clues. They had no idea that the primary threat of the entire facility had already been silently erased. They believed they had simply overpowered the guards. Ken smiled lazily. His secret was completely safe. He was entirely ready to go home and take a very long nap.
