Ira stood perfectly still by the door. Her pale face showed zero emotion. "I will distribute the cards. I deal with one hundred percent accuracy."

Luna snored loudly on a wooden chair. Risa sat on the floor. The sweet healer colored a picture of a smiling cat. The room felt incredibly safe.

Ken chewed his popcorn. He spoke to Karna in his mind. He kept his face totally relaxed.

"What is the problem, Karna?" Ken asked lazily in his mind. "I am busy eating popcorn. Naomi made it. It is very good. I do not want to do any work right now."

"Ten thousand Black Spirits just appeared," Karna reported calmly. "They are an ancient army. They surround me entirely. They intend to attack."

Ken paused. He swallowed his popcorn. He slouched his shoulders.

"Ten thousand?" Ken thought back. "That is an absurd number. Did someone trigger a monster spawner? This is exactly like a mindless hack-and-slash video game. The developers just copy and paste the exact same enemy model ten thousand times to inflate the difficulty. It is very lazy game design."

"They look very hostile, Boss," Karna noted.

"Just spam your ultimate attack," Ken advised lazily in his mind. He took another handful of popcorn. "Do not fight them one by one. That requires too much cardio. You will get tired. Just clear the screen. Treat it like a Dynasty Warriors stage. Rack up a massive combo counter. Use big, flashy area attacks."

"Understood," Karna replied. The mental link closed.

Ken looked at Naomi. He smiled a goofy smile. "Naomi, do you like video games?"

Naomi tilted her head. She looked confused. "Video games? No. I prefer real combat training. Why do you ask?"

"You are missing out," Ken said casually. He popped a kernel into his mouth. "Sometimes you just want to press one single button and watch a thousand bad guys fly into the air. It is very relaxing. It is a great stress reliever."

Naomi chuckled. She shook her head. "You have a very weird brain, Ken."

Far away in Bluemoon, Karna stood in the dark alley. The ten thousand Black Spirits charged. They moved like a massive black tidal wave. They swung their shadow swords. They wanted to tear him apart.

Karna raised his right hand. A blinding golden light erupted from his palm. The light pushed the toxic purple fog away. He summoned the Divine Vijaya Bow. The bow glowed with absolute, radiant power. Ancient runes shined on the weapon.

Karna did not flinch. He pulled the glowing string. A bright arrow of pure light appeared. He aimed at the massive crowd of monsters. He released the string.

The golden arrow shot forward. It hit the front line of Black Spirits. It exploded with a massive boom. A huge shockwave of golden light swept through the street. Hundreds of Black Spirits vaporized instantly. They turned into black dust. The dust blew away in the cold wind.

The spirits did not stop. They stepped over the dust. They charged again. They had no fear. They had no minds. They only had a dark purpose.

Karna moved with blistering speed. He leaped high into the air. He fired ten arrows in a single second. The arrows rained down like shooting stars. They hit the roofs. They hit the walls. The golden explosions destroyed hundreds of monsters.

A Black Spirit jumped from a balcony. It swung a dark spear at Karna's head. Karna spun around. He used his bow like a staff. He smashed the golden bow into the spirit's chest. The spirit shattered like broken glass.

Three more spirits lunged at him. Karna kicked the first one. The kick sent the spirit flying into a brick wall. He punched the second one. Golden light exploded from his fist. The spirit melted away completely. He shot an arrow through the third one.

Karna fought with flawless grace. He was a legendary warrior. His movements were perfect. He did not waste a single breath. He cleared the alleyway entirely.

But the numbers were overwhelming. Ten thousand was a massive tide. The portals kept glowing. More spirits poured into the city. They flooded the main plaza. They climbed the broken stone walls. They surrounded the golden warrior.

Karna landed on the street. He breathed slowly. He looked at the endless sea of purple eyes. The dark army wanted to drown him. He raised his bow again. The fight was far from over.

---

The black sky tore open with a deafening screech. The sound hurt the ears. It sounded like scraping metal mixed with a dying animal. The Black Spirits stopped moving. They parted like water. They created a wide path in the center of the ruined city.

A massive, terrifying creature dropped from the dark clouds. It landed on a stone building. The building crumbled instantly under its immense weight.

It was the Black Crow.

The Black Crow was a giant, monstrous bird. Its feathers were made of solid shadows. Its eyes burned with a toxic purple light. Its massive wings spanned across the entire street. It looked like a nightmare.

The most dangerous thing about the Black Crow was its fire. The bird was entirely wreathed in black flames. The flames did not give off heat. They gave off an absolute, freezing cold. The black fire licked the stone walls. The stone instantly decayed. It turned to ash. The black flames consumed everything they touched. They ate ambient magic.

The Black Crow let out another horrific screech. It flapped its giant wings. A massive wave of black fire shot toward Karna.

Karna dashed to the side. He moved faster than lightning. The black fire hit the street where he just stood. The cobblestones melted into black sludge. The sludge bubbled toxically.

Karna opened the mental link again. "Boss. A special enemy has appeared. It is a giant bird covered in black flames. The flames consume ambient mana. They are highly destructive."

Ken was still sitting on the sofa. He offered Naomi a piece of popcorn. She took it with a warm smile. Ken chewed his food. He closed his eyes for a second.

"Black flames?" Ken thought lazily. "That is totally unoriginal. It sounds exactly like that famous ninja anime. The one with the edgy brother who wears a cloud cloak and cries a lot. He uses black fire that never goes out. These bad guys have zero creativity. It is pure copyright infringement."

Ken opened his eyes. He looked at Naomi. "Naomi, do you like birds?"

Naomi raised an eyebrow. She looked confused. "Birds? They are fine. Why do you ask?"

Ken gave a goofy grin. "I just saw a really ugly bird in my imagination. It was covered in edgy black fire. It looked like it belonged in a teenage comic book. It was totally lame."

Naomi laughed a bright, warm laugh. She playfully ruffled his messy black hair. "You have a very strange imagination, Ken. Stop daydreaming. Eat your popcorn."
