Yadek stopped roaring. The giant ogre looked up at the glowing weapon. For the very first time since his transformation, Yadek felt a sudden, sharp spike of true panic. His swirling black aura flickered weakly under the intense golden light.
"What is that weapon?!" Yadek yelled. His demonic voice cracked with fear. He realized he was in massive danger.
Yadek gathered every single drop of his remaining dark magic. He pulled the black aura into his hands. He formed a gigantic, jagged spear of pure black energy. The spear hummed with lethal, toxic power. He aimed it directly at the man on the roof. He prepared to throw it with all his monstrous strength.
Karna did not speak a single word. He maintained his perfect, professional composure. He pulled back the string of the Vijaya Bow. He did not use a normal, physical arrow. As he pulled the string, an arrow formed out of concentrated, blinding white light. The arrow sparked with immense magical pressure.
Karna aimed the bow directly at the center of the giant ogre's chest. He locked onto the target.
He released the string.
The arrow shot forward. It moved with impossible, blistering speed. It looked exactly like a falling shooting star. The sound of the shot cracked through the air like a massive whip.
Yadek threw his black spear at the exact same moment. He put all his giant muscle into the throw.
The golden arrow met the black spear right in mid-air. There was no struggle. There was no massive explosion. The golden light completely, effortlessly overpowered the dark magic. The black spear shattered instantly into a million tiny, harmless pieces of dust.
The arrow continued its flawless path. It did not slow down at all.
It struck Yadek directly in the center of his chest.
The impact was absolute. The golden light pierced right through the swirling black aura. It pierced the thick, mutated ogre skin as if it were made of wet paper. The arrow lodged deep into the monster's dark heart.
Yadek dropped to his knees. The ground shook as he fell. He looked down at his chest. The blinding white light began to consume his entire body from the inside out. He opened his giant mouth to scream, but absolutely no sound came out. The light erased his voice completely.
The high-level Black Magician dissolved rapidly into nothingness. The massive ogre form melted away like snow in a fire. The dark aura vanished entirely. In a matter of seconds, Yadek was completely destroyed. Only a small pile of gray ash remained on the cobblestones.
Karna lowered his arms. The massive Vijaya Bow faded away into soft, floating sparkles of golden light. He jumped down from the roof. He landed softly and flawlessly on the quiet street.

The intense battle was officially over. He brushed his sleek black jacket. He prepared to send another telepathic report back to Ken.
But then, Karna stopped moving. He stood perfectly still. His silver eyes narrowed sharply.
He felt something else. He felt a new, massive wave of dark energy gathering in the distance. The purple fog began to swirl wildly again. The ground trembled slightly beneath his boots. He looked toward the center of the ruined capital city. The fight was far from over. A much larger, far more dangerous threat was rapidly approaching.
---
The cobblestone street cracked loudly. The purple fog swirled in tight circles. Karna stood perfectly still. He looked down the dark alleyway. The air felt incredibly dense. The ground trembled with intense force. The sky above the Bluemoon Kingdom turned completely black. Dark clouds rolled across the stars. The temperature dropped rapidly. A massive surge of dark magic filled the ruined city.
Portals opened in the black sky. They tore through the dark clouds. They looked like bleeding wounds in the air. Toxic purple light spilled from the portals. The light illuminated the destroyed buildings.
Something moved inside the portals. Figures stepped out. They fell from the sky. They landed on the roofs. They landed on the streets. They landed on the broken walls.
They were Black Spirits. They did not have human faces. They looked like solid shadows. They wore tattered, smoky armor. Their eyes glowed with a sick, purple light. They carried swords made of pure darkness. They carried spears made of black mist. They did not speak. They did not breathe. They just stared at Karna.
They kept coming. Hundreds poured out of the portals. Then thousands followed. The streets filled with dark bodies. The roofs vanished under a sea of black smoke. Ten thousand Black Spirits surrounded the golden warrior. They were an ancient army. They once served the Black Soul Sovereign. They woke up from a long slumber. They wanted to destroy everything in their path.
Karna did not panic. He maintained absolute professional composure. He tapped his ear. He opened a secret mental link.
"Boss," Karna said in his mind. "We have a massive situation."
Miles away, the 13th Unit estate was completely peaceful.
Ken Eliot lay flat on the large sofa in the living room. He was fast asleep. A small line of drool ran down his chin. His white shirt hung entirely untucked. His navy blue suit jacket rested on the floor. He dreamed about a gigantic bowl of spicy ramen. He dreamed about extra pork slices. The telepathic voice woke him up instantly.
Ken opened one eye. He let out a loud yawn. He stretched his arms. He looked around the bright, warm living room.
Naomi walked into the room. She carried a large glass bowl of buttery popcorn. She wore a simple gray shirt and comfortable pants. Her red hair rested in a loose, neat ponytail. She smiled a bright, very warm smile. She walked over to the sofa. She nudged Ken's leg gently. She did not yell at him today.
"Wake up, slacker," Naomi teased playfully. She sat on the edge of the sofa. She offered him the bowl. "I made popcorn. You need to eat something. You missed lunch entirely."
Ken sat up immediately. His dark eyes lit up with pure joy. He grabbed a large handful of popcorn. He shoved it into his mouth. He chewed happily.
"You are an absolute angel, Naomi," Ken mumbled with his mouth full. "Popcorn is the ultimate snack. It is light. It is fluffy. It requires zero chewing effort. You are the best cook in the Empire."
Naomi laughed softly. She bumped her shoulder against his arm. "You are totally ridiculous. Just eat your food. Try not to spill crumbs on the cushions."
Laxmi sat on the rug nearby. She tossed a playing card into a hat. She missed. She groaned playfully. "Ken, you sleep way too much. We need to play a card game. I am very bored. There are no bad guys to punch today."
Zinia nodded from her spot near the window. The strong earth mage stretched her arms. "A game sounds good. We have a peaceful day. We should enjoy it."
Sayma turned a page in her thick book. She pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "Statistically, card games improve cognitive function. It is a productive use of time. I will participate."
