The kick slammed into the monster's back. The electrical current surged through the dark purple shell. The monster shrieked in pain. The beast spun around. It swatted its massive tail.

The tail hit Zeus squarely in the chest.

Zeus flew backward through the air. He crashed into a stone building. The wall crumbled into dust. Zeus stepped out of the rubble immediately. His white uniform was slightly dirty. He looked absolutely furious.

Ken chewed a chocolate chip cookie. He watched the fight. He slouched his shoulders.

"This is exactly like a fighting game," Ken analyzed lazily in his mind. "The boss has a massive invincibility frame during its attack animations. Zeus keeps mashing the punch button. He is trying to force his way through the attacks. Button mashing never works on a phase two boss. You have to wait for an opening. You have to learn the attack patterns. He is playing very poorly."

Up in the broadcast booth, the sports anchors screamed into their microphones. The entire Empire was watching the live feed.

"This is unbelievable, Sarah!" Bob the anchor shouted. He waved his hands wildly. "The giant bug is actually fighting back! It just knocked the 1st Prince into a building! The monster's armor looks completely unbreakable!"

Sarah nodded enthusiastically. She wore a dark gray blazer. "You are right, Bob! The 1st Prince is unleashing massive electrical strikes! But the beast just shakes them off! The battle is turning into a massive brawl! Can Prince Zeus find a way to pierce that shell?!"

Down in the plaza, the fight escalated rapidly.

Zeus charged again. He did not use basic punches anymore. He channeled a massive amount of mana. He summoned dozens of glowing yellow lightning spears in the air around him. He pointed his hand. The spears shot forward like missiles.

The lightning spears slammed into the Bug King. Explosions rocked the plaza. The bright light blinded the cameras. The smoke completely covered the monster.

Zeus stood perfectly still. He breathed very fast. He waited for the smoke to clear.

A massive scythe blade suddenly burst out of the smoke. The blade slashed across Zeus's arm. It cut a small tear in his pristine white sleeve. A tiny drop of blood fell to the ground.

Zeus stared at his torn sleeve. His green eyes widened in pure, unfiltered rage. Nobody ever drew his blood. It was an absolute insult to his royal pride.

The Bug King stepped out of the smoke. Its armor was slightly scorched. But it was still fully intact. The beast let out a victorious, mocking hiss. It prepared to launch a final, devastating attack. The real climax of the battle was officially starting.

---

The giant Bug King stood tall in the center of the ruined plaza. The monster gathered toxic green magic deep inside its jaws. The green light glowed with blinding intensity. It illuminated the entire street. The beast prepared to unleash a massive, apocalyptic beam of pure acid.

Zeus Belmontia glared at the monster. His face twisted into a scowl of absolute hatred. He looked at his torn white sleeve. He refused to be embarrassed on national television. He refused to look weak in front of his siblings.

"You will turn to dust," Zeus commanded coldly.

Zeus raised both of his hands toward the dark, stormy sky. He completely abandoned his basic combat techniques. He tapped into his absolute maximum magical output. He prepared to use his ultimate finishing move.

The dark clouds above the city began to swirl violently. A massive vortex formed in the sky. Blinding yellow lightning flashed inside the clouds. The thunder cracked so loudly it shook the dirt beneath their feet. The air smelled strongly of ozone. The static electricity made everyone's hair stand on end.

"He is gathering a colossal charge," Sayma warned politely. She pushed her glasses up. She wrote frantically in her notebook. "The raw energy output is astronomical. He is preparing to call down a massive, concentrated lightning strike. It will obliterate the entire center of the plaza."

Zinia stomped her boots on the ground. She pulled up another thick wall of solid rock. "Everyone get behind the wall! The shockwave is going to be massive!"

Princess Iris stepped behind the rock barrier. She held her silver rapier. Her violet eyes watched her brother. She knew this attack was his strongest spell.

Ken Eliot sat on his concrete rock. He slouched his shoulders. He did not hide behind Zinia's wall. He casually pulled another cookie from his bag. He chewed it slowly.

"This is the ultimate attack sequence," Ken thought casually to himself. "He is charging his Spirit Bomb. The sky turns dark. The lightning flashes. It is a very cool visual effect. But it has a massive tactical flaw."

Ken looked closely at the Bug King. The monster was also charging its ultimate attack. The green acid beam glowed brighter and brighter in its jaws. The dark purple shell covering the monster's chest pulsed with defensive magic. The armor looked incredibly dense.

Ken's sleepy dark eyes analyzed the situation perfectly. He processed the data in a fraction of a millisecond.

"Zeus is going to drop a giant lightning bolt," Ken reasoned silently. "But the bug's armor is currently at maximum density. The bug is focusing all its mana into a frontal defense. The lightning will hit the shell. The shell will resist the initial impact. The bug will fire the acid beam right through the lightning. The two attacks will clash. The resulting explosion will destroy this entire city block."

Ken knew an explosion of that size would be very dangerous. The shockwave would shatter Zinia's rock wall. The flying debris would definitely hit the 13th Unit. The girls would get hurt.

"If Naomi gets hurt, she cannot make dinner tonight," Ken decided logically. "I am very hungry. I want a nice, warm meal. I absolutely refuse to let a giant bug ruin my dinner plans. I need to fix this."

Ken could not jump out and use his god-like magic. He could not summon a dragon. He could not use his massive dark sword. The floating cameras were recording everything. The entire Empire was watching the broadcast. He had to maintain his lazy, useless slacker disguise.

Ken shoved his left hand deep into his pocket. He slouched his shoulders as far as they could possibly go. He leaned his body slightly to the right.

He aimed his hidden right index finger directly at the center of the Bug King's massive chest. He hid his hand perfectly behind his leg. Nobody could see his fingers.

Ken did not use a massive, flashy spell. He used a microscopic, entirely invisible application of his reality-bending magic. He called this specific technique "Armor Break" in his mind. It was exactly like a debuff spell in a role-playing game.

Ken squinted his left eye. He stuck his tongue out of the corner of his mouth.

"Pew," Ken whispered very softly. The word made absolutely no sound.
