Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 244: Everything is Developing in a Good DirectionMoira Lynch propped her elbows on the table, cupping her face in her hands. She smiled at Kai York. "Boss, do you remember that SoySauceDrunkard is holding a planetary auction this month?"
Shane Rhodes nodded. "Of course I remember. But SoySauceDrunkard’s auction is clearly aimed at nations and other major powers. It doesn’t have much to do with us. Even if we could win an auction, we don’t have the manpower for subsequent development."
"That’s not what I mean. I’m saying you can negotiate with the base about this."
’After all, whoever wins the auction for those mineral resources will have to split them fifty-fifty with me. This way, I can create a legitimate reason for myself to use these things in the future.’
’Of course, the most important thing was that Moira Lynch honestly couldn’t think of anything she wanted.’
’She knew exactly what the base had, but none of it particularly interested her.’
"Alright, I get it."
Moira Lynch stretched and then seemed to remember something. "Oh, right. There are also these saplings."
Moira Lynch took out another Space Button. Inside were the remaining saplings she and Hugh Finch had, nine hundred ninety-nine in total.
’Since these saplings could adapt to an environment like that desert, they could surely adapt to Caelus’s environment as well.’
After putting the saplings down, Moira Lynch waved her hand. "Well, I’m heading back to sleep."
Kai York, who was beside her, also stood up. As he moved, his bones made a series of CRACK, CRACK, CRACK sounds.
"I’m going back to sleep, too."
"Wait a minute." Moira Lynch called out to Kai York, then took out a stalk of Bone Straightening Grass. "This is for you."
"What is this?"
After his previous experience with the sand dust fruit, Kai York was being extremely cautious.
"Bone Straightening Grass. It can treat your condition."
Staring at the small plant in his hand, Kai York thought for a moment before deciding to eat it.
He closed his eyes and swallowed the Bone Straightening Grass in one gulp. ’Even if it tastes bad, so be it,’ he thought. ’It’s not like it can kill me, anyway.’
The Bone Straightening Grass tasted pretty much like a common weed—not delicious, but not particularly awful either.
As the Bone Straightening Grass went down, the CRACK, CRACK, CRACK sounds started coming from Kai York’s body again. All his bones, as if guided by some force, instantly snapped back into their proper places. Even his teeth were straightened.
When the sounds stopped, Kai York moved his body. The sore, weak feeling that had plagued him was gone, replaced by a profound sense of comfort.
This left Kai York overjoyed.
Turning her head, Moira Lynch also gave one stalk each to Shane Rhodes and Hugh Finch.
Although the two of them didn’t have the same issues as Kai York, eating the Bone Straightening Grass was still beneficial.
Once that was settled, Moira Lynch returned to her room. She didn’t go to sleep right away, but instead opened the game interface and checked her private messages.
As expected, her inbox was still flooded. Everyone was asking when the auction would start. There was, however, one exception. That’s right, it was Redlight. He was asking about the Awakening Potions.
Moira Lynch thought for a moment. ’This must be what they call the confidence of the favored.’
[Redlight: Mr. Lynch, Mr. Lynch, how many Awakening Potions are there this month?]
[SoySauceDrunkard: Two hundred fifty thousand.]
In reality, she had over three hundred thirty thousand. The remaining eighty-thousand-plus bottles would be put on the shelves.
[Redlight: We’ll take them all. Same price as before?]
[SoySauceDrunkard: Yep. In a bit, I’ll place the two hundred fifty thousand Awakening Potions in the shop’s VIP room. You can just complete the transaction directly.]
[Redlight: Okay, no problem.]
[Redlight: By the way, Mr. Lynch, do you want to hear about our progress developing Veridian Prime?]
Surveys had shown that the climate on Veridian Prime was even better than they had anticipated. It was also rich in resources. They just needed to establish their cities, and they could move right in.
[SoySauceDrunkard: Ah... about that... no need. I’m actually well aware of your every move.]
She had placed a Golden Celestial Eye and a Red Celestial Eye on Veridian Prime. They were originally meant for planetary exploration, but she also occasionally used them to keep an eye on Cathaya’s activities.
’I have to say, they really live up to their reputation as infrastructure fiends. How long has it been? They’ve already built a military base and even paved roads.’
The Flower Sprites had also quickly adapted to their new neighbors. The two groups had already reached a preliminary understanding and had even established diplomatic relations.
On the other end, Redlight broke out in a cold sweat when he saw SoySauceDrunkard’s message. ’She knows everything? Thankfully, we’ve been on our best behavior and haven’t done anything out of line.’
After finishing their discussion about the Awakening Potions, Redlight started asking Moira Lynch if she had brought back any other goodies from the game this time. He wanted some.
Seeing this, Moira Lynch simply replied with the single word "No" and ignored Redlight after that.
’She planned to use the Land Recovery Liquid on Cloudsea Planet first.’
’As for the other medicines, they could only be obtained through random drops for now; mass production was completely out of the question.’
Taking the Land Recovery Liquid with her, Moira Lynch opened a Teleportation Gate to Cloudsea Planet.
After some time of growth, the place had been completely transformed.
The Qio Vine had already grown to the size of an island. It was starting to produce seeds underneath, which meant it was ready for its first harvest.
The Knotweed Kelp and various fish that had been introduced were also thriving. There hadn’t been any mass die-offs; everything was developing in a positive direction.
’In that case, perhaps she could introduce some carnivorous fish.’
But before that, Moira Lynch called over two Cloud Whale Beasts to ask them about the Cloudsea Whale’s incubation status.
One of the Cetabeasts flicked its tail. "Don’t you worry, the Cloudsea Whale is doing great. It should hatch before long. The Isle Turtles have grown quite a bit, too."
"But there’s another very serious problem now," the other Cetabeast said.
"What problem?"
"The fish currently in the ocean don’t include the species the Cloudsea Whale likes to eat."
"Then what do we do?" Moira Lynch asked instinctively. ’She couldn’t return to Planet Aelmar right now.’
Seeming to sense Moira Lynch’s worry, one of the Cloud Whale Beasts said, "You don’t have to worry about that. The ocean you had us stay in before has the food the Cloudsea Whale likes. We just want you to release those fish quickly so they can breed. After all, the Cloudsea Whale has a huge appetite."
Hearing the Cetabeast’s words, Moira Lynch couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. This was what she had planned to do all along, after all. But before that, she needed to do one more thing.
Finding a clear, open area, Moira Lynch released the whale carcass she had been keeping in her storage space.
As the saying goes: a whale fall gives life to myriad things.
This one whale should be enough to feed those fish for a good while.
