Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 253: More Than Worth ItSomething’s not right.
All this attention for no reason can’t be good.
After seeing Shane Rhodes nod, Moira’s internal alarms went off.
She then turned to the other two. "Don’t tell me you two have something for me as well."
Kai York and Hugh Finch both nodded, then pulled out a similar-looking box from under the table. Naturally, its contents were also much the same.
And it wasn’t just that; everything in the living room had been brought specifically for Moira.
Moira adjusted her posture, crossed her arms, and looked at the three of them with a leisurely air. "Just get to the point. What do you want in exchange for all these gifts?"
Kai York rubbed his hands together and chuckled. "Moira, do you have any more Soul Resurrection Grass?"
At his words, Moira understood. She recalled the old man she had met before. ’So, it’s about the Soul Resurrection Grass.’
But it made sense. The effects of the Soul Resurrection Grass were even more potent than thousand-year-old ginseng, though she wasn’t exactly sure how potent thousand-year-old ginseng was.
"You want Soul Resurrection Grass, but I recall my SoySauceDrunkard shop has it in stock. With all this stuff, you have enough to buy several stalks."
Hearing this, Shane Rhodes waved his hand dismissively. "Who knows how many people are watching the SoySauceDrunkard shop. The items in the medicine section, especially, get instantly bought out the moment they’re listed. No matter how fast we are, we can’t get them."
Moira glanced at the items in the living room and confirmed one last time, "Are you sure you’re giving all of this to me? No regrets?"
Hearing Moira say this, the three of them knew they had a chance.
"No regrets."
"Alright then."
Seeing as it was Shane Rhodes and the other two, and considering how generous they were being, Moira specifically chose three rather large Soul Resurrection Grasses from her space.
Since she didn’t have a box big enough to hold them, Moira simply placed them on the table.
A single Soul Resurrection Grass took up half the table, its surrounding tendrils covering the surface beneath it and even reaching the floor.
Then, Moira took out a second, and a third.
Seeing such massive Soul Resurrection Grasses, Shane Rhodes and the other two were completely stunned.
Seeing the dumbfounded trio, Moira waved her hand magnanimously. "The items are here. You can figure out how to divide them. I’m heading upstairs."
Before leaving, Moira didn’t forget to take all the items from the living room with her.
Back in her room, Moira began inspecting the boxes one by one.
Aside from various pieces of jewelry made from jade, there were also all sorts of gemstones, kingfisher feather hair ornaments, antiques, and even classic calligraphy and paintings.
As the saying goes: gold in chaotic times, antiques in prosperous ones.
If these items were in a time of peace, they would probably fetch an astronomical price at auction.
Still, it wasn’t a bad deal for them either.
After all, the Soul Resurrection Grasses Moira had brought out before, and even the ones she sold in her shop, were all small.
A Soul Resurrection Grass this large was an absolute steal. Forget Caelus—even in the wider galaxy, there weren’t many better than this.
Moira carefully stored all the antiques. During the apocalypse, many people had used antiques for trade. It wasn’t just Cathayan antiques; there were plenty from foreign countries, too. She accepted them all without question.
This was where the importance of history became apparent.
’Once the apocalypse is over, I might even be able to open a museum with all these antiques just to display them.’
’I’m getting ahead of myself.’
After putting everything away, Moira took out the Yeti Horns.
A miniature, rotating wheel composed of eighteen Yeti Horns appeared. Moira had named it the Snow Wheel.
Besides that, there were two spare Yeti Horns.
While using her spiritual power to cleanse the impurities from the Snow Wheel for better control, Moira opened her Intelligent Brain and began skillfully browsing online forums.
When she was alone, she still preferred using the Intelligent Brain, as it freed up her hands.
Moira opened the most popular thread, and as expected, it was about her.
Ever since the game descended, the names of the SoySauceDrunkard and "Don’t Miss It" shops had been trending pretty much twenty-four hours a day.
This made Moira glad she’d decided to hide her identity from the start.
[BookLover: Buying Healing Pistols and Space Daggers at high prices! Money is no object!]
[PrincessLilith: Recruiting players who own either a Healing Pistol or a Space Dagger! Join us and you’ll receive executive-level treatment!]
[Aethelgard: You all want Healing Pistols and Space Daggers, but I’m different. If someone can get me the full beauty and skincare package, I’ll do anything you ask.]
The full beauty and skincare package was a new service Moira had launched after the last game event ended.
She bundled medicines with different effects and sold them together. Although the total price was higher, if you calculated the average price per bottle, you’d find it was significantly cheaper than buying them individually.
[Serene: Me too, me too! Why didn’t SoySauceDrunkard release such a great item sooner? If I’d known this existed, I wouldn’t have had to endure the torture of a thousand cuts!]
[First Emperor’s Heir: Stop dreaming, person above me. SoySauceDrunkard only got this stuff after the game descended, too.]
[InterestingSoul: I gotta say, the Bone-Setting Medicine is the real deal. Not only did it straighten my crooked teeth, but I also grew three centimeters taller. How infuriating is that?]
Moira continued scrolling down. A long series of replies followed, all flaming the previous poster. Gradually, the thread went completely off-topic.
She browsed a few other threads, but the content was mostly the same. Occasionally, a defamatory post about her would pop up, but it would be taken down and the user’s account banned within minutes. Some were even issued direct warnings.
After all, everyone still vividly remembered what had happened to The Crimson Dominion.
Ever since that incident, the lucky survivors from The Crimson Dominion no longer dared to stay in their own country, and they all scrambled to apply for citizenship elsewhere.
Some even tried to apply for Cathayan citizenship, arguing that their misfortune was caused by SoySauceDrunkard, and since SoySauceDrunkard was a Cathayan, Cathaya had a responsibility to pay for the actions of its citizen.
In response, Cathaya had only one thing to say: "Get lost. The farther, the better." It was concise and to the point.
And if anyone still didn’t get the message, Cathaya was also fluent in the language of fists.
Moira closed the Intelligent Brain and gathered all the Land Recovery Liquid that her Pharmacy Box had generated during this time.
She opened a Teleportation Gate to Cloudsea Planet.
It had only been a few days, but the changes here took Moira by surprise. Of course, she was referring to the islands—the ones where she had spread the Land Recovery Liquid.
Not only were the Full Vines she had recently transplanted showing no signs of distress, but they had already grown a considerable amount.
