After a dozen or so hours, Moira Lynch finally completed the Village Chief’s quest.

Most of that time was spent traveling. The map in *Divine Soul* was just too big. While you don’t get tired in the game, walking everywhere step-by-step is incredibly boring.

So, Moira Lynch grinded every monster she came across. Every little bit counts, after all.

It all added up, and the EXP from these mobs let her gain two levels.

She hadn’t expected that each of the red dots on the map would represent a tiger.

However, when Moira Lynch killed the first tiger and got no quest update, she knew her target was just one specific tiger among them.

And Moira Lynch was rather unlucky; the first three she found weren’t the Tiger King she was looking for.

After dealing with these three tigers, they dropped a pile of materials and items.

After stuffing everything into her backpack, she searched for several more hours before finally finding the Tiger King.

Compared to the previous three, the Tiger King before her was several times larger and radiated a terrifying aura.

Moira Lynch had to fight it for a long time before she could finally take it down.

The Tiger King also dropped a pile of loot, among which was the tiger tooth she needed.

After collecting the loot, Moira Lynch returned to the village.

Just as she approached the Village Chief’s house and was about to go inside, she saw a male player walking out.

He wore an angry expression and rushed past Moira Lynch in a hurry, nearly colliding with her.

"Sorry."

The male player stopped and said to Moira Lynch, his face full of apology.

Moira Lynch shook her head. "It’s fine." With that, she continued toward the Village Chief’s house.

Seeing this, the male player blocked her path. "You must have heard about the Healing Ring and came to get the quest from the Village Chief, right? Don’t bother. He’s just an old swindler."

"A swindler?" Moira Lynch blinked. "He seemed quite kind to me."

Hearing this, the male player looked as though he’d finally found a sympathetic ear and began to pour out his troubles.

"You have no idea. The player who got the Healing Ring revealed they received the item from the Village Chief’s daughter. Judging by the description, the daughter must have made it by hand. After that, countless players flocked here to find her."

"And then?"

Even though she knew she was the "Village Chief’s daughter" he was talking about, and that their search was doomed from the start, Moira Lynch still asked with a look of curiosity.

"And then? And then they found nothing! Not only that, but the Village Chief is always tricking us into doing hard labor for him. The Chief *does* have a daughter, but she supposedly weighs a ton, just like his wife! At this point, I’m starting to suspect the original player just made the whole thing up."

After venting to Moira Lynch, the male player’s mood seemed to improve considerably, and the anger on his face disappeared.

"By the way, my name is SweetChestnut," the male player introduced himself.

"I’m Moira Lynch." Moira Lynch smiled as she gave her name.

Since Moira Lynch still had to turn in her quest, she didn’t chat much with SweetChestnut and continued toward the Village Chief’s house.

Behind her, SweetChestnut watched her go with a hint of pity in his eyes.

Meanwhile, Moira Lynch waited until she was sure there were no other players inside before pushing the door open and entering.

She crossed the courtyard, but before she could even reach the door, the Village Chief emerged from the house.

When he saw that it was Moira Lynch, his impatient expression instantly transformed.

A kind expression appeared, his face crinkling into a smile.

"Ah, you’re finally back! You took a little longer than I expected."

"The path up the mountain was rough. It took me a long time to find the Tiger King."

After speaking, Moira Lynch handed over the map along with the Tiger King’s tooth.

The Village Chief opened the map. Seeing that all the red dots were gone, he was stunned for a moment before nodding with a broad smile.

For Moira Lynch, the quest was now complete.

Then, she looked at the Village Chief expectantly and asked, "When can I go pick out my reward?"

"Not so fast," the Village Chief said unhurriedly. "All the red dots on the map are gone. I take it you defeated all four tigers?"

Moira Lynch nodded without trying to hide it. After all, it was clearly shown on the map; lying would be pointless and she’d be found out instantly.

However, remembering what SweetChestnut had said, Moira Lynch’s expression turned wary, and she narrowed her eyes slightly.

Seeing her reaction, the Village Chief quickly said, "No need to be so guarded. I was just wondering if you’d be willing to sell me the materials from the other tigers as well. In return, you can pick out a few extra items from my collection."

’Oh, so that’s all it is.’ Moira Lynch relaxed considerably.

However... "How many is ’a few extra’ items? Village Chief, we need to be clear on the specifics."

’After all, "a few extra" could mean just one more, or it could mean several. That’s a huge difference.’

’And those other tigers dropped a lot of loot.’

Besides equipment, there were tiger teeth, tiger bones, tiger pelts, tiger penises... all in all, over a dozen different types of materials.

Hearing Moira’s words, the Village Chief’s smile became somewhat strained. It seemed her suspicion about his little scheme was spot on.

"Then what kind of trade are you proposing?"

Moira Lynch pointed to the tiger tooth in the Village Chief’s hand and said with a smile, "Village Chief, you see, a single tiger tooth gets me one item from your collection. The other materials are just as valuable, if not more so."

Her implication was clear: all the other materials had to be traded at the same rate.

After some haggling, they finally came to an agreement. Materials from the Tiger King would be traded at the same rate as the quest tooth, one for one. However, materials from the other three tigers would be worth half that.

In other words, it would take two of her items to get one of his.

Although Moira Lynch wasn’t entirely satisfied with the price, she reluctantly accepted the deal.

Next, the Village Chief led Moira Lynch to his "treasure vault"—the very same warehouse she had casually opened back when she was role-playing as his daughter.

"Go on, choose," the Village Chief said with a reluctant look, as if it had taken all his resolve to utter those three words.

Moira Lynch glanced around and immediately spotted the piece of wood she had used back then.

Just as she was about to pick it up, she noticed an even larger piece right beside it.

’Well, if I get to choose, I’m obviously going to pick the best one.’

Moira Lynch could tell that while the Village Chief was a carpenter, he didn’t seem to understand the true value of this wood. He had simply stacked the pieces together by type, and some were even insect-infested. It pained her to see such waste.

’With a little processing and an Enchantment, these fine materials could be turned into items that would sell for a fortune.’
