Apocalypse Beast Supplier: Only I Sell God-Tier Beasts
Chapter 104: First FightThe moment the area cleared, Terrence looked directly at the smaller spatial rift open at his side—the entrance portal to the Beast Sanctuary.
Calling out for the Azure-lined Frog, the exact same creature they had just captured materialized right in front of him.
However, the beast appeared to be vastly more confused than hostile.
’Looks like it is wondering how it ended up like this. Does the Beast Net make beasts reset their former knowledge? Or perhaps erase all their wild experiences?’ Terrence wondered silently, taking a step closer to the creature as he reached out his hand to touch its slimy back.
The frog beast didn’t react aggressively to the contact at all, calmly allowing Terrence to caress its moist hide. The slippery texture slid against Terrence’s open palm as he clearly felt the vibrant pulse of his new beast’s life force.
’It’s only a B-Rank beast, but it definitely possesses the inherent potential to become a remarkably strong battle unit. B-Rank isn’t bad at all for starting stock,’ Terrence thought as he pulled the Evolution Booster artifact out from his inventory space.
Terrence then carefully placed the specialized necklace around the newly listed beast’s neck, and a clear system notification flashed instantly in his vision:
[Due to the active effect of the Evolution Booster, a guaranteed additional 5% growth bonus will be applied for each beast core fed to this target.]
Terrence smirked, feeling his heart skip a excited beat in his chest. He couldn’t help but feel immensely thrilled about what he needed to execute next.
He turned his head toward his shadow hound. "Buddy, let’s go hunt. Can you help train this new beast? Like teaching him the absolute basics of combat coordination?"
Noir simply tilted his head to the side, looking completely baffled by the unusual question and command. Seeing the hound’s confused reaction, Terrence couldn’t hold back a soft sigh and a quiet chuckle.
"I see..."
He reached out to the Azure-lined Frog again and lightly tapped its wide back. A wet slapping sound resonated through the quiet clearing.
"Hey, do you still actually remember how to fight?"
The frog beast was noticeably slow at processing the verbal question. A few long seconds passed before it finally nodded its large head, as if carefully deliberating on how to respond properly.
’I guess capturing beasts directly with the Beast Net completely erases their innate ferocious property. Because of that, it becomes immensely easier to bond with and tame them without even needing to force a rigid contract on their minds. With this mechanism, it will be vastly easier to sell them off and let them form contracts with any buyer.’
However, Terrence knew that this single frog shouldn’t be the only creature in his sales stock at the moment. He desperately needed far more merchandise, and the seemingly unending utility of the Beast Sanctuary made managing his inventory significantly easier for him.
They soon departed from their initial trial location after conducting a few more baseline tests on the Azure-lined Frog’s physical condition. After verifying that the creature wouldn’t be completely clueless about surviving in the wild, Terrence and his team of beasts set out into the jungle to locate another target.
Before they had traveled very far or spent too much time searching, they spotted a new wild creature. It was a long, green slithering Venomous Python. Just like the other monsters inhabiting this high-density rift, this python was far larger than any ordinary snake, featuring a body as thick as an enormous industrial pipe and a raised frame as tall as a house.
Seeing the surprisingly massive monster, Terrence grinned widely.
’This creature will serve as the absolute best testing sample for the Beast Core Generator. Let me test that brand-new gold item right now!’
Filled with intense excitement, Terrence immediately barked an order to his shadow hound.
"Noir, restrict its escape route! Over there!" Spotting a narrow passage formed between tight clusters of younger saplings and ancient trees, Terrence effectively sealed off the monster’s primary retreat path as Noir darted across the terrain to position himself at the gap.
Terrence then turned his sharp focus back to the Azure-lined Frog, preparing to issue his tactical commands.
"That beast ahead is extremely dangerous because of its long-range venom spray. Make absolute sure not to face its maw directly. Try to draw its attention without remaining standing in front of it for too long. You can test out any basic attack you feel capable of executing right now, and then I will issue you a follow-up order."
The Azure-lined Frog still appeared somewhat bewildered by its surroundings, but it certainly didn’t act stupidly. It followed Terrence’s spoken commands as naturally as if it were officially contracted to him.
Obeying its capturer’s order without hesitation, the frog launched itself high above the canopy of the younger trees. Leaves were torn apart and danced wildly in the heavy gust of wind created by the sheer force of its leap.
In an instant, the Venomous Python’s sharp yellow eyes shifted directly toward the airborne Azure-lined Frog.
With the tactical command guiding its mind, the frog altered its trajectory and leaped fast to the side just as the python prepared to spray a wave of violent venom toward its position.
That attack was a specialized Skill belonging to the Venomous Python. While normal snakes needed to bite down on their prey to inject deadly fluid, this mutated monster could instantly paralyze and capture anything its acidic spray managed to touch.
With pure venom sprayed directly at an advancing target, a hundred percent capture rate or successful hunt was practically guaranteed for the serpent.
However, the Azure-lined Frog proved agile enough to strictly adhere to Terrence’s warning.
Extending its incredibly long tongue straight out from its wide, open maw, the tongue’s original pinkish color slowly shifted into a dangerous, glowing blue hue mid-air.
The vibrant color promised a lethal magical effect upon impact. The moment the tip connected hard with the python’s scaled body, the serpent slithered backward rapidly, a sharp hiss of pure pain escaping its jaws.
The Azure-lined Frog immediately leaped into the air once again, its muscular legs glowing with a bright silver aura as it launched itself directly at the massive snake. Executing a dense physical attack like a razor-sharp blade, its glowing limbs sliced straight through the python’s thick hide like warm butter.
Another pained hiss burst from the Venomous Python. However, the monster proved to be far more tenacious than initially expected. It slithered aggressively the very next second, keeping its body low to the muddy ground to easily duck under the frog beast’s incoming tongue lash.
As if its movement speed had been suddenly boosted by rage, the slithering snake moved like a green blur across the swamp, rapidly closing the physical distance between the two of them.
It whipped its massive body around the frog, tightly wrapping itself around the Azure-lined Frog in a fast, completely unexpected constriction maneuver.
The coils tightened violently, rendering any immediate escape impossible for the trapped frog beast.
The Azure-lined Frog appeared to be struggling heavily in this close-quarters fight, but Terrence certainly wasn’t about to stand idly by and let his very first captured piece of merchandise get crushed to death.
Noir blurred across the muddy ground like a shadow. A split second later, a dark, horizontal slash of shadow energy cleaved straight across the serpent’s thick neck. In the twinkling of an eye, the giant snake beast was cleanly beheaded.
The next second, a massive geyser of blood sprayed everywhere across the jungle foliage, and the heavy head of the python rolled away from the constricted frog.
’Was my split-second decision the right move here?’ Terrence thought to himself, watching the scene unfold. ’Should I have just captured that massive snake instead and let this frog die in combat?’
However, thinking back to the valuable Evolution Booster currently attached to the frog beast’s neck, and fearing that the costly artifact might disappear or break if the target died, Terrence quickly reaffirmed his tactical decision.
