After seeing a mature Xenomorph easily see through and kill a player attempting to disguise themself as one, Perry Yates gave up on the idea of bluffing her way through.

She retracted her Spiritual Body just as the water in the pot began to boil.

The once-transparent Insect Egg had now turned completely white, looking like a round, white egg.

Seeing this, Perry Yates took a deep breath. After mentally preparing herself, she took the Insect Egg out, let it cool for a moment, and then placed it in her mouth.

The moment the Insect Egg entered her mouth, Perry Yates felt a strange sensation fill it.

The Insect Egg’s texture wasn’t as disgusting as she had imagined; in fact, it was quite delicious, and she didn’t find the corpse of a developed insect inside.

However, that still didn’t change the fact that it was an Insect Egg.

Perry Yates chewed a few times quickly, swallowed the Insect Egg, and couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

’I should be able to get out now.’

Just as Perry Yates was wondering how she would get out, a noise suddenly came from above.

The next second, a rope ladder fell from above, nearly hitting her on the head. Luckily, her quick reflexes allowed her to dodge it.

Looking at the rope ladder before her, Perry Yates didn’t know if she should climb it.

Just then, an impatient voice came from above.

To her surprise, Perry Yates actually understood what they were saying. They were urging her to hurry up and not dawdle.

’It seems they really do see me as one of their own.’

Perry Yates put on her mask, adjusted her disguise, and then began to climb the rope ladder.

Five minutes later, Perry Yates successfully made it to the top.

Her view through her Spiritual Body hadn’t been very clear before. Only now could she truly see just how big this place was.

She estimated the area was as large as five or six football fields.

On the ground, at regular intervals, there were holes about a meter in diameter.

Some of these holes were empty. From others, she could clearly hear cries for help.

Just then, a commotion erupted nearby.

Looking toward the sound, she saw a group of Xenomorphs walk in from outside, clutching numerous humans.

From their clothing, Perry Yates determined that some of them were players, while the others were likely natives.

The natives’ faces were filled with terror and despair. In comparison, the players seemed much calmer.

These people were pushed into the empty holes. Then, another group of Xenomorphs approached, holding plump, round Insect Eggs that were on the verge of hatching.

The Insect Eggs were dropped down the holes. Upon hatching, they could immediately enter a host’s body and enjoy a delicious first meal.

At this point, the adult Xenomorphs were already urging Perry Yates to leave the area.

After hatching, all Xenomorphs had to work for the queen, whether mature or immature.

Mature Xenomorphs had their tasks, and newly emerged Xenomorphs—the role Perry Yates was playing—had their own jobs as well.

Before leaving, Perry Yates decided to help these players anyway.

Although The Card Tavern had sold plenty of identification items lately, most were only one- or two-star. It was uncertain if they’d be effective. Besides, not everyone could afford identification items in the first place.

So she used a one-time-use Sound Transmission Card to broadcast information about the Insect Eggs to everyone, including the natives.

After leaving the incubation chamber, Perry Yates also learned her mission: to infiltrate survivor groups, gain their trust, and then wipe them all out.

In the process, Perry Yates discovered that these Xenomorphs weren’t very intelligent—at least, the ones she was currently in contact with weren’t. Thus, she easily extracted some of the information she wanted.

This game took place in a world that had been invaded by Xenomorphs.

Furthermore, the invasion had happened three years ago.

In those three years, humanity had been beaten back repeatedly by the Xenomorphs. Their population, once similar to that of Cerulea, had now been reduced to less than one percent.

The good news, however, was that the humans here hadn’t given up. They were still stubbornly resisting the Xenomorphs, attempting to defeat them, and had even developed a series of weapons that could harm them.

The catch was that producing these weapons was extremely difficult. They constantly had to fend off Xenomorphs trying to disrupt production, making mass production impossible.

The bad news was that, as time went on, the Xenomorphs were also gradually growing stronger, closing in on humanity step by step.

Under these circumstances, the best way to survive for thirty days was to find a place and lie low.

And now, Perry Yates had a perfect opportunity to leave openly.

After successfully leaving The Hive, before Perry Yates could even breathe a sigh of relief, she was stunned by the sight before her.

Dilapidated ruins were everywhere. Not a single blade of grass grew on the ground, and even the sky was exceptionally gloomy.

’This is probably what the end of the world looks like.’

Looking back, Perry Yates discovered that The Hive she had just exited was actually constructed from the piled-up wreckage of various buildings.

Because she wasn’t sure how long the effect of the Insect Egg would last, Perry Yates decided to leave quickly.

However, she had only taken a couple of steps before she stopped again. ’Should I use this safe period to stock up on more Insect Eggs, just in case?’ she wondered.

But after a few seconds of thought, Perry Yates temporarily abandoned the idea.

For one, she was leaving under the pretext of carrying out a mission, so going back now would easily arouse suspicion. For another, she didn’t know the situation inside, and entering with her real body could easily lead to an accident, so...

An almost completely transparent butterfly flew out of Perry Yates’s body and flitted stealthily towards The Hive.

At the same time, on the ground where Perry Yates had stepped, a few flecks of green had appeared. A few inconspicuous blades of grass hid just beneath the surface, not yet fully sprouted, their roots slowly spreading towards The Hive.

Once she was far enough from The Hive, Perry Yates looked at the sky. Taking out Claudia Vance to fly now would be too conspicuous.

With this in mind, Perry Yates took out the Sleeping Cloud Mist.

After the Sleeping Cloud Mist Ascended to four stars, it could not only induce sleep but also hide her form and aura, forcing any creature that came near into a mandatory slumber.

As the Sleeping Cloud Mist appeared, a faint white mist rose around Perry Yates, making her figure grow hazy until she disappeared completely.

And within the mist, Perry Yates toyed with an exquisitely designed poker card.

This way, she felt much safer.
