Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 123: Xenomorph World 22By now, the battle outside had reached a fever pitch.
Perry Yates glanced at the situation. Thanks to the protective shield, the players held an absolute advantage.
’Okay, no need to worry.’
Perry completely withdrew her gaze, humming an unknown tune as she continued to Ascend the items in her hands.
This time, she wasn’t performing Ascension on cards, but on the parts taken from the Xenomorphs.
According to the initial Identification results, these parts required high-temperature forging before they could be used.
On a whim, Perry had Ascended one of them and was pleasantly surprised to find that Ascension could bypass this step entirely.
After Ascension, the Xenomorph parts all gained special abilities and could be worn on the body, functioning similarly to items.
The only difference was that they didn’t turn into cards after being used up.
However, these items Ascended from Xenomorph body parts could be used by ordinary people.
Do you know what this means?
It meant these items would be incredibly popular back in the real world.
However, compared to Ascending Sublimation Cards, Ascending these items clearly consumed far more energy.
Perry had calculated that the energy needed to Ascend one item was enough to Ascend two 2-star cards in a row.
Fortunately, Perry’s abilities had improved significantly recently; otherwise, she really wouldn’t have been able to afford the cost.
Perry looked at the pair of wings she had just finished Ascending.
These wings came from a Xenomorph grasshopper, so they were transparent and made a faint buzzing sound when flapped.
These wings were certainly no match for the ones from the pigeon Xenomorph, but their advantage lay in their small size and high speed.
Meanwhile, on the other side, the players’ battle had ended.
All the Xenomorph Titan-Ants had been eliminated.
Everyone worked together to drag the Xenomorph Titan-Ant corpses inside the protective shield. As for the two players who had been infested by Xenomorphs, they still hadn’t died even after their bodies were riddled with holes.
Their Life Force was unusually tenacious. Under everyone’s watchful eyes, they abandoned the Xenomorph Titan-Ants and fled.
The players were now quite skilled at dismantling Xenomorphs, but this time, the creature’s exoskeleton was exceptionally tough, leaving them at a bit of a loss as to where to start.
And so, the fifteenth day of the game passed amidst the CLANGING and BANGING from outside.
「Day sixteen of the game.」
No new players came looking for her today.
Except for those who had been infested, she estimated that all the other players were already here with her.
Just as Perry was thinking this, a loud explosion suddenly echoed from the distance, instantly grabbing the attention of everyone inside the shield.
"What’s going on?"
"It looks like someone is being swarmed by Xenomorphs!"
Everyone stared at the scene outside. The distance was great, and after what had happened yesterday, they couldn’t help but subconsciously wonder if this was another Xenomorph trap designed to lure them out.
Therefore, even though they could see those people were about to be wiped out by the Xenomorphs, no one made a move.
Just at this critical moment, the rose vines that were scattered everywhere inside the shield suddenly sprang into action.
Countless thorny rose vines grew wildly, stretching out toward the people in the distance.
Will Wyatt was from Base One. As soon as they learned about the cards and their precise effects, they immediately gathered all the Xenomorph corpses in their base, loaded them onto their vehicles, and set out.
However, because Base One was located deep in the mountains and was quite remote, they were among the first to get the news but the last to arrive.
Along the way, they had encountered more than one wave of Xenomorph attacks. Several times, they were nearly wiped out completely.
Fortunately, yesterday they had run into a peculiar group of people. Some of them possessed powerful abilities and helped repel the Xenomorphs attacking them.
During their conversation, Will Wyatt learned that they shared the same destination, so he invited these people to travel with his group.
Will had his eye on their combat strength, believing that with them around, his convoy would surely reach its destination safely.
As for these players, they had been unlucky. Their initial spawn point was far from Perry Yates’s location, and they had received the news late. That was why everyone else had arrived, but they hadn’t.
With their food supplies nearly depleted, they had to constantly travel while also remaining vigilant for Xenomorphs that could appear from anywhere. It was mentally and physically exhausting.
On the fifteenth day of the game, they had been on the verge of giving up.
However, at the last moment, they chose to stay.
After all, as the old saying goes, fortune favors the bold. They were well aware of the game’s dangers and knew even better that opportunities to coast to an easy victory were rare.
Just then, Will Wyatt appeared.
They could, of course, see that Will wanted them to act as free bodyguards. Coincidentally, they had their eyes on Will’s vehicles and food.
It was a win-win partnership.
And so, eleven players joined the convoy. In order to get a free ride and food, these players didn’t hold back at all when they encountered Xenomorphs.
They struck hard against the Xenomorph attacks, and with everyone’s cooperation, the journey had been relatively smooth.
However, for some unknown reason, the closer they got to the protective shield’s location, the stronger the Xenomorphs they encountered became.
Among the eleven players, only five had fused with cards, and all of them were 2-star cards. They had some combat power, but facing increasingly powerful Xenomorphs, they gradually began to struggle.
Finally, when they were less than a few hundred meters from the shield, countless Xenomorphs suddenly appeared from all sides of the convoy.
These Xenomorphs looked very similar to slugs, but their skin was a dark purple, and they were the size of basketballs.
Although they looked like slugs, their movements were exceptionally agile, and they possessed astonishing jumping abilities.
The fluid on these Xenomorphs was extremely corrosive. Any part of the body that came into contact with it would have its clothing and flesh instantly corroded away, exposing bare bone.
Just as they were surrounded by the Xenomorphs and beginning to despair, countless thorny vines descended from the sky, forming walls of thorns that separated them from all the creatures.
Seeing this, everyone couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
However, before they could react, the very vines that had just protected them suddenly sprang to life, enveloping all of them, along with their vehicles.
Then, they felt a massive force pulling at their bodies.
At that moment, they were like lambs to the slaughter, able to do nothing but scream.
