Even with its head severed, the Black Mamba’s body continued to thrash, its mouth repeatedly snapping open as if trying to bite someone.

Perry Yates knew that the severed head of a Black Mamba was still aggressive. A bite would still be venomous.

So, without any hesitation, Perry Yates grabbed a nearby rock and pinned the Black Mamba’s head beneath it.

With that taken care of, Perry Yates was about to leave when a beam of light shot out from the snake’s body, coalescing into a card about half a meter above the ground.

[Poisonous Fang

Level: One-Star

Ability: After fusion, you will grow Black Mamba fangs that secrete venom upon biting an enemy.]

’A card that only works if I bite someone? Not for me.’

Perry Yates stored the card away and headed down the mountain.

From the summit earlier, she had seen plumes of cooking smoke rising far to the east. She decided to go check it out.

On the other side of the mountain, she had only found traces of wild beasts. But over here, they were everywhere. Even the venomous insects were far more aggressive than those on the other side.

Perry Yates turned to look at the mountain behind her.

The mountain was like a barrier, splitting the island in two.

Along the way, she didn’t just find tracks of beasts; she encountered plenty of the creatures themselves.

These beasts were extremely aggressive. Sometimes, they would charge before she even had time to react.

Besides the beasts, the hardest things to guard against were the venomous insects and snakes.

The venomous insects were small; a moment of carelessness could lead to an attack. And the venomous snakes...

Perry Yates looked at the vines that seemed to be everywhere. Some were real, but others were venomous snakes in disguise.

Thanks to her strength and the special cosmetic contacts she wore, identifying the camouflaged snakes wasn’t difficult for her. For anyone else, however, it would be a different story.

This also brought something to mind. ’Perhaps it won’t be long before the other players voluntarily cross this barrier to our side of the mountain.’

This speculation wasn’t baseless, of course.

Compared to her current location, the other side of the mountain, while safer, had a fatal flaw: the lack of food.

Indeed. Food was much scarcer over there. It wasn’t completely barren, but one couldn’t survive on mushrooms and wild fruits alone. Not to mention, Perry Yates’s Clones had already gathered most of them over the past two days.

Besides, even if one could get full on mushrooms and wild fruits, the human body still needs protein.

She had already used her Clones to scout that area. There was prey, but very little—certainly not enough to sustain a hundred people.

Clad in the War God Armor and wielding a sharp machete, Perry Yates struggled onward, hacking her way through vines, venomous snakes, and other plants.

After walking for about an hour and a half, Perry Yates finally reached her destination. In the distance, she could see two figures moving about.

They seemed to have spotted her, too. One of them chuckled to the other, "Master Ford, someone’s here. Looks like a little rookie."

His tone was flippant and mocking.

As Perry Yates drew closer, she saw two men sitting around a dying fire.

One of them was facing her. He had a pair of seductive, almond-shaped eyes, sharp features, and hair dyed a flashy pink. Dressed in light-colored clothes, he looked like a playboy who frequented all the hottest clubs.

He had the kind of look that screamed, ’I’ll break your heart, and that’s not up for debate.’

However, what he was currently doing was completely at odds with his overall vibe.

He sat unceremoniously on a dead log, his long legs crossed, holding a blackened lump of something. From a bite mark in it, one could barely tell it was a piece of roasted meat.

His face, which looked like it could have been the Serpent Goddess’s graduation project, was now also smudged with soot, presumably from gnawing on the charred meat.

The other man had his back to her, so she couldn’t see his face. Even so, Perry Yates could feel the intimidating aura emanating from him, one that would make anyone hesitate to approach.

"Hello,"

Perry Yates said with a smile.

These two didn’t look like the friendly type, so Perry Yates decided to start by showing some goodwill.

"A Croupier?"

The pink-haired youth casually tossed the blackened piece of meat aside, wiped his mouth with his hand, and raised an eyebrow at Perry Yates.

The gesture might have been charming under normal circumstances, but looking at his soot-streaked face, Perry Yates felt an urge to laugh. She suppressed it.

"Mhm," Perry Yates nodded.

After receiving her confirmation, the pink-haired youth suddenly moved.

He moved with incredible speed, appearing before Perry Yates in the blink of an eye. His hand shot out, aiming for the most vulnerable part of her body—her neck.

Faced with this attack, Perry Yates couldn’t even be bothered to dodge. She simply stood there and let the pink-haired youth grab for her.

The next second, the War God Armor materialized. The moment the pink-haired youth’s hand made contact, there was a sharp clang of metal on metal.

"Does that prove my identity now?" Perry Yates asked, tilting her head.

The pink-haired youth retracted his hand. "Sorry about that. Force of habit," he said.

He said sorry, but his expression was anything but apologetic.

Seeing this, Perry Yates was thoroughly annoyed.

’Getting attacked for no reason sucks, even if he had a good one.’

As she thought this, a wicked impulse took hold. Gazing at the pink-haired youth’s gorgeous face, she stepped forward and planted a kiss right on him.

Through her mask, of course.

Seeing the color drain from the pink-haired youth’s face, Perry Yates smiled, satisfied.

"Sorry, that’s a habit of mine, too. When I see someone good-looking, I just have to kiss them to see what they’re like. You don’t mind, do you?"

Perry Yates offered a completely insincere explanation.

The pink-haired youth wiped his mouth, a smile that didn’t reach his eyes plastered on his face. He looked at Perry Yates and said through gritted teeth, "Don’t mind. Of course I don’t mind."

Perry Yates walked over to the campfire.

Her view had been blocked before, but now Perry Yates could see two blackened, completely carbonized pheasants roasting over the fire.

"Um, you might want to take those pheasants off the fire. They’re about to turn into charcoal," Perry Yates helpfully pointed out.

Looking at the two pheasants, Perry Yates’s heart ached. ’What a waste of a high-quality energy source. Such a shame, such a terrible shame.’

"You know how to cook?"

The speaker was the man who had kept his back to her the entire time.
