Perry Yates hadn’t expected to get a call from Dylan Adler the very next day, just after she had agreed to Chester Shelby’s request.

After she answered the phone, a single sentence from the other end made the expression on Perry Yates’s face change instantly.

Arriving at the Survival Game Administration, Perry Yates used the employee card Chester Shelby had given her to get to the second basement level without any trouble.

Looking at the bright, spacious hall, Perry Yates couldn’t help but marvel, "You’d never guess this place was underground."

And judging by its size, this hall was far larger than the visible, above-ground portion of the Survival Game Administration.

The staff members coming and going shot curious glances at Perry Yates as she stepped out of the elevator. However, out of professional courtesy, they didn’t stop to question or turn her away. After all, she had arrived legitimately.

Just then, Chester Shelby found Perry Yates and trotted over. "You’re finally here! The Captain’s been waiting for a while. Follow me."

Perry Yates followed Chester Shelby toward one of the rooms.

When she entered the room, she saw three other people besides Dylan Adler.

There was Aidan Sinclair, with his pink hair, pale skin, and fox-like eyes; Seth Larkin, dressed in a military-green uniform; and Candice Sawyer, who had neat, short hair and wore a pair of sky-high heels.

She recognized them because their faces had been all over the news; the media had extensively covered their exploits.

The three of them looked confused at Perry Yates’s sudden appearance.

Aidan Sinclair looked at Dylan Adler, his tone flippant. "I heard a little while ago that Captain Adler got saved by someone inside a game. I didn’t believe it at first, but it looks like the rumors were true. Don’t tell me this pretty little thing is our captain’s lifesaver."

"She’s a new external member of our squad. Her name is Perry Yates."

Then, Dylan Adler gestured toward Aidan Sinclair and the others. "You probably recognize them."

Perry Yates nodded. "I do." She then got straight to the point. "Where’s the card?"

The reason Perry Yates was here was that Dylan Adler had told her on the phone that the five-star card they’d encountered in the game had actually been brought out by a player.

At her words, Dylan Adler pointed in a certain direction.

Before, Perry Yates’s attention had been entirely focused on the people in the room. ’After all, a gathering of four stunningly attractive people is quite the sight.’

Now, following Dylan Adler’s gesture, Perry Yates finally noticed a white pedestal in the center of the room. On it sat a transparent protective case, and inside was a card shimmering with a golden light.

Stepping forward, Perry Yates carefully examined the card.

On the surface, the card looked extremely similar to the one they had seen in the game—almost identical, in fact. But...

[Mischievous Little Ghost

Level: None

Ability Level Introduction: A little ghost that loves pranks. It has no concept of good and evil, acting only according to its own whims. It craves great power and will imitate the most powerful being it encounters.

When it grows bored with its current world, it will move on to a new one to continue its mischief.

PS: The Mischievous Little Ghost’s idea of a "prank" is not what most people think. This ghost loves to make a big scene.

"What do you see?"

When Perry Yates remained silent, Dylan Adler couldn’t help but ask.

"It’s your card. Why are you asking me?" Perry Yates didn’t answer right away.

"It’s because we can’t see anything," Candice Sawyer chimed in. "Dylan Adler said you have a special identification item that can analyze five-star items. That’s why we called you."

’So they just want to use me as a tool,’ she thought. ’Still...’

"Why not just take this card to The Card Tavern to get it identified?"

After all, while the Survival Game Administration was Drakonia’s most powerful survival game organization, The Card Tavern was undoubtedly the foremost authority on cards.

Although Perry Yates had never expressed any desire to form an organization, some of the regulars at The Card Tavern had already started to consider it their home.

"Because the higher-ups want to keep this card’s existence under wraps, so..."

Hearing Dylan Adler’s explanation, a look of understanding crossed Perry Yates’s face. ’I get it,’ she thought. ’They’re trying to hide an ace up their sleeve.’

Perry Yates didn’t seem angry or upset by this. After all, everyone had their secrets.

"This isn’t the card we saw in the game, but it must have come into contact with it. Its danger level is on par with the Hungry Ghost Card. My recommendation is not to activate it. Find a place where no one will ever find it and Seal it away, or take it to The Card Tavern and trade it for resources."

Finished, and to prove her words, Perry Yates took out the same identification item she had let Dylan Adler use before. "If you don’t believe me," she said, "you can look for yourselves."

Dylan Adler and the others took turns looking through the glasses. After a long moment, Aidan Sinclair asked, "What’s the star rating on this item of yours?"

"Two-star. Why?" Perry Yates blinked.

"Two-star? Your two-star item can see information that our three-star items couldn’t?"

Faced with Aidan Sinclair’s suspicion, Perry Yates didn’t falter. She just blinked her big, innocent eyes, putting on an expression that said, ’I have no idea what you’re talking about.’

"Maybe my item is just special," she said. "It was a direct reward from the system, after all."

Perry Yates just passed the buck to the game system. She doubted Aidan Sinclair could actually go and ask the system for confirmation.

’Besides, with so many different items out there, who’s to say a two-star item can’t do this? The card itself doesn’t even have a level, technically.’

Seeing that her part was done, Perry Yates turned to leave. But then, Dylan Adler spoke up from behind her. "Tomorrow, you’re coming with me on a mission to Vaelan. The local flora has started encroaching on the city. I want you to see if you can solve the problem."

"Alright, I understand."

As Perry Yates turned and left, Candice Sawyer looked at Aidan Sinclair with an amused expression. "Did anyone else think Perry’s behavior just now seemed a little familiar?"

Prompted by Candice Sawyer’s remark, the others realized it: Perry Yates’s behavior was strikingly similar to how Aidan Sinclair had acted when he first joined the Survival Game Administration.

"Not quite. Aidan was way more arrogant than Perry back then. He had that ’I’m the king of the world’ attitude. Then Seth beat the crap out of him, and he finally learned his lesson after spending over twenty days in the hospital."

Aidan Sinclair looked annoyed that his embarrassing past was being brought up, but there was nothing he could do about it. After all, of the people present, he was on par with the other two in a fight, but no match for Seth Larkin.

If it really came to blows, he’d be stuck in a stalemate with either one of them. More likely, Dylan Adler and Candice Sawyer would just team up and pummel him.
