Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 218: Haisa 1Under Dylan Adler’s command, personnel from the Survival Game Administration spent half a day harvesting all the mature Sunflowers before shipping them to a distant location.
The "experts" Dylan Adler had mentioned took less than two days to discover that the sunflower seeds had a significant therapeutic effect on over a hundred diseases, including cerebral thrombosis, heart disease, and cancer.
It wasn’t just the seeds. They studied the entire Sunflower plant, and the conclusion was that every part of it was a treasure.
After reaching this conclusion, Dylan Adler went to Perry Yates and expressed his hope that she could cultivate more of those Sunflowers.
"Weren’t all the ones I cultivated before enough for you?" Perry Yates asked.
Hearing this, Dylan Adler smiled. "With something this good, the more, the better, of course."
Perry Yates thought for a moment before replying, "Not right now. Cultivating so many just now took a lot of energy, and the drain on me was immense. However, I can agree to cultivate a batch for you periodically."
’I can’t seem too eager about this,’ Perry Yates thought. ’Otherwise, people will think I’m a pushover.’
Dylan Adler nodded. "That’s not a problem. On another note, the people at the Academy of Sciences want to conduct some tests on your abilities. After all, you’re the only person known to have merged with a four-star Wood Attribute Card."
Perry Yates rejected Dylan Adler’s proposal decisively.
"No. Impossible. I refuse. I’m not some guinea pig. I won’t cooperate with anyone’s research. If you really want to do research, you can go to The Card Tavern, order a custom Wood Attribute Card, and have someone else merge with it."
Seeing how adamantly Perry Yates refused, even without him offering the generous terms he’d prepared, Dylan Adler didn’t press the issue.
Only after Dylan Adler had left did Perry Yates let out a sigh of relief.
She had many secrets, after all. Forget the cards—just her body alone was a major one. She periodically put her body through an Ascension. Now, although she looked no different from a normal person on the outside—aside from being a bit paler—her insides had undergone earth-shattering changes.
Perry Yates had once used an item via her butler to perform a comprehensive physical examination on herself. The results showed that her current physical constitution was ten, or even dozens, of times greater than that of an ordinary person.
At this point, she could truly be called a superhuman.
A player’s physical constitution is enhanced after merging with a card, and their probability of falling ill is greatly reduced. Research has shown that a player who has merged with a card can live to be between one hundred fifty and two hundred years old, provided they don’t meet with any accidents and die of natural causes.
Cards with different attributes provide different enhancements, and that was just the effect of a single card.
And Perry Yates’s lifespan, on top of that, was several times longer.
If she were in a xuanhuan world, Perry Yates’s current constitution would be what they call a Mystic Sky Dao Body—an absolute prodigy.
If this secret were ever discovered, Perry Yates worried she’d be dissected. Even if she wasn’t, people would go crazy trying to uncover her secrets.
Perry Yates couldn’t help but shudder at the thought.
A few more days passed just like that. The ten-day deadline came and went, and Perry Yates’s life fell into a routine.
Then, on the morning of the fifteenth day, Perry Yates awoke to find a ship ticket on her nightstand.
Perry Yates knew for a fact that she hadn’t bought this ticket. That could only mean it was from the game.
Just then, her phone went DING-DONG.
She picked up her phone. A message was on the screen.
[Dear passenger, your cruise ship, the "Haisa," will set sail tomorrow at 8:00 AM sharp. Please be sure to board the vessel before it leaves port. Failure to do so will be at your own risk.]
[This cruise will last for thirty days. We wish you a pleasant journey for the thirty days to come.]
After reading the message, Perry Yates checked the time and the location of the cruise ship Haisa, then immediately sprang out of bed and started packing.
All her spatial items would be disabled for this game, so the only things she could rely on were whatever she brought aboard in her luggage.
Perry Yates tried her spatial items; they were still working. They would probably be disabled once the game officially began.
’Since it’s a cruise, it should be perfectly normal to bring a bit of extra luggage, right?’
But she couldn’t go too overboard. After all, judging by her last experience, this game would also be a hunt for the Croupier.
"I wonder what kind of help the non-Croupier players will get this time."
That Replication Card from last time was a huge boon for her.
After a moment’s hesitation, Perry Yates decided to bring only a single suitcase.
Ever since she learned that spatial items would be disabled in this game, Perry Yates had been preparing. At the very least, she wouldn’t be short on food or water.
She had no idea if the food on the cruise ship would be safe, so Perry Yates decided she would eat her own supplies during the game. It was best to avoid touching anything on the ship if she could help it.
Once all that was done, Perry Yates grabbed her suitcase and headed out.
Even though the message said to board by 8:00 AM tomorrow, Perry Yates felt it was better to get on early. There might be some unexpected advantage to it.
Arriving at the Haisa’s location, Perry Yates found herself in a bustling port. There were vendors selling all sorts of things; you could find just about anything.
Since she had arrived early, Perry Yates had plenty of time. Like any other tourist, she weaved through the streets, pulling her suitcase behind her.
’The vendors seem fine. It’s probably because the game hasn’t started yet.’
Perry Yates went to the cruise ship. After she presented her ticket, she was led to a specific area. Someone told her that before boarding, her luggage had to go through a security check.
"It’s just some of my personal belongings," Perry Yates said, her expression clearly reluctant.
"Apologies, but it’s our policy."
With that, they opened her suitcase without further argument, its contents spilling into view for all to see.
The suitcase contained nothing but clothes, shoes, cosmetics, and toiletries.
"This is all your luggage?" the inspector asked in surprise.
"What else would there be? Isn’t this what people bring on a trip? You’ve inspected it now. Can I go in?"
Seeing Perry Yates’s unpleasant tone, the inspector could only let her pass. Before she left, he handed her a green keycard for her room.
Perry Yates noticed there were also red, blue, and black keycards. "Do the colors of the keycards mean anything different?" she asked.
"No difference. It’s just the color. Otherwise, they’re all the same."
