Judging by his attitude, he probably didn’t have a Space Backpack. Otherwise, there was no way he would give up White Cards.

After all, with The Card Tavern around, the value of White Cards was soaring.

After counting them, Perry Yates put the cards away and gave Una Lynch over two thousand in cash.

Una Lynch clutched the cash, a huge smile blooming on his face.

"By the way, where did you all find these cards? Did you just pick them up off the ground?" Perry Yates asked curiously.

She had been searching for cards herself over the past few days, but her luck must have been bad, as she’d only found a few.

Hearing Perry Yates’s question, Una Lynch hesitated. ’If I tell her, will she stop buying cards from me?’

After a moment’s hesitation, Una Lynch decided to ask, "If I tell you, will you still buy cards from me?"

He had finally found a way to make money, and he didn’t want to lose it.

"Of course I will," Perry Yates said with a smile. "I’m just one person, and you have a whole group searching. Why would I turn you down?"

Getting the answer he wanted, Una Lynch let out a sigh of relief. "To be honest, we don’t really know the exact pattern of where the cards appear," he said. "But they always seem to show up in inconspicuous little spots—in corners, between rocks, under trash cans, in the grass, places like that."

"You can also check inside shops. Cards sometimes appear there, too."

A thoughtful expression crossed Perry Yates’s face as she listened to Una Lynch.

’Inside shops?’

Her first card after entering the game had been found in a shopping mall.

If this was true, Perry Yates decided she would find time to do some exploring. After all, if there was one thing she had now, it was plenty of time.

She then turned to Una Lynch. "If you find any more cards, keep bringing them to me. Also, things might get dangerous in the coming days, so be careful. If you can, stock up on some food with a long shelf life."

Upon hearing this, Una Lynch blinked at Perry Yates, then nodded obediently. "Okay, I will. Thanks for the warning."

Back at her Safe House, Perry Yates dumped out all the cards she’d gotten that day, spreading them face-up on the floor.

As was her routine, she performed the first Ascension on them.

This batch included not only item cards and Skill Cards, but also many Happy Circle Cards. Of the two hundred-plus cards, nearly half were Happy Circle Cards.

It was known as the most useless of all White Cards—the ultimate baby pacifier.

When a Happy Circle Card was used, a cloud of white smoke would appear. Inhaling the smoke brought a momentary feeling of joy and a sense of physical and mental well-being.

But once the smoke dissipated, the feeling was gone.

It had no other function whatsoever.

That was why the Happy Circle Card was considered the most useless card—it was completely and utterly pointless.

This was the first time Perry Yates had ever seen a Happy Circle Card; she hadn’t come across one in the two previous games.

On the principle of ’nothing ventured, nothing gained,’ Perry Yates casually performed Ascension on the Happy Circle Card in her hand.

Immediately, information about the Ascended card flooded her mind.

[Basic Healing Card: Instantly heals minor injuries.]

Perry Yates’s hand froze. She stared in disbelief at the newly created Basic Healing Card.

It was clearly a single-use card. Even after Ascension, no stars had appeared on it, yet it was different from other White Cards.

’Looks like I can classify this type of card as a Resource Card.’

Now that she knew Happy Circle Cards could become Basic Healing Cards after Ascension, she eagerly Ascended all the remaining ones.

However, to her surprise, only half of them turned into Basic Healing Cards. The other half became Health Cards and Life Cards.

[Basic Health Card: Upon use, allows the body of someone with a minor illness to fully recover.]

[Basic Life Card: Upon use, increases lifespan by three months.]

Perry Yates stared at the two cards, so shocked she nearly forgot to breathe.

The Basic Health Card was one thing—you could get potions from other cards that cured illnesses—but the Basic Life Card... this was something that could actually extend a person’s life.

Perry Yates could already imagine the uproar it would cause if news of this card got out.

Haha! Perry Yates hugged the cards and couldn’t help but laugh out loud. ’Who said Happy Circle Cards were no good? They’re fantastic!’

"Next time I see Una Lynch, I’ll have him look for more Happy Circle Cards," Perry Yates said.

After putting all the cards into her Card Storage Device, Perry Yates lay on her bed and went to sleep.

Sometime in the middle of the night, she woke up thirsty. As she got up for a drink of water, she realized it had started raining outside.

She checked the time. It was now the fifth day of the game.

She observed the rain.

For now, it was just a light drizzle. The rain had caused the temperature to drop considerably, which was a welcome relief for the residents of Solara, who had been suffering through a heatwave.

The entire city grew damp from the rain.

But since it was summer, the local residents didn’t mind. In fact, they hoped the rain would last a while longer.

No one, apart from the players, knew that this rain was only the beginning of a disaster.

Perry Yates took out the raincoat and rain boots she had prepared long ago, setting them aside to be ready. Then she took a sip of water and went back to sleep.

If nothing else, rainy days were perfect for sleeping.

When she woke again, it was eight in the morning. The rain outside hadn’t stopped, but it showed no signs of getting heavier, continuing to fall in a steady, light patter.

Looking out the window, she had to admit the view was rather beautiful, giving off a poetic, misty-rain vibe.

She could feel the Water Element suffusing the air. In this environment, the power of players who had integrated Water Attribute Cards would likely be greatly enhanced.

Because the temperature had dropped, there were actually more people outside, despite the rain.

Perry Yates took a container of noodles she had packed earlier out of her Space Backpack and began to eat with relish.

There was a breakfast shop right downstairs, but she needed to save her money to buy cards from Una Lynch, so she had to be frugal.

After breakfast, Perry Yates sent out only her Wood Clone.

She held an umbrella as she walked down the street, a stark contrast to the office workers hurrying by.
