Perry Yates hadn’t walked far when her sharp eyes spotted what she was looking for in a flowerpot outside a shop.

Pretending to be casual, she walked toward the flowerpot and smoothly retrieved the card.

She glanced at it. The front of the card showed a potted plant, but it wasn’t a Wood Attribute Skill Card; it was an item card.

"A potted plant?"

Perry Yates put the card away. It was just a White Card, so she didn’t expect it to be anything good before Ascension anyway.

The first shop Perry Yates entered was a flower shop, filled with all sorts of fresh flowers.

"Hello, are you looking to order a bouquet?"

Facing the enthusiastic clerk, Perry Yates gave a faint smile and said, "I’d like to order a bouquet for a friend. She’s getting married soon."

"In that case, do you know what kind of flowers your friend usually likes? We have several styles of bridal bouquets, or you can create your own arrangement."

Hearing this, Perry Yates pretended to think seriously for a moment before saying, "She likes anything as long as it’s pretty."

"If that’s the case, I can recommend a few types of flowers for you. They’ve all been very popular recently," the clerk said enthusiastically.

"No need, I’ll just look around myself. I don’t want to trouble you," Perry Yates said politely. At that moment, another customer walked in, apparently to pick up the ninety-nine roses he had ordered the day before, supposedly for a confession.

While the clerk was busy, Perry Yates quickly swept through the entire flower shop. Sure enough, she actually found several cards.

After collecting the cards, Perry Yates said a quick goodbye to the clerk and left.

Spurred on by her success, Perry Yates proceeded to visit every shop on the street, one by one.

In almost every shop, she managed to find four to six cards.

Although they were all White Cards, and most of them seemed useless—with Happy Group cards being the most numerous—it was as she’d thought before: none of this was a problem for Perry Yates.

She checked the time. It was already past eleven, almost noon. The rain showed no signs of stopping; in fact, it was gradually getting heavier.

Just then, a supermarket came into view, so she decided to go have a look around before getting lunch.

The supermarket Perry Yates chose was a very high-end, large establishment. Regardless of the category or quality of the goods inside, they all had one thing in common, summed up in a single word: "Expensive!"

Grapes were sold individually, with a single one costing, on average, tens of dollars.

Perry Yates stared at the prices, completely stunned.

’Does anyone actually shop at a supermarket like this?’

After walking through every section of the supermarket, Perry Yates successfully found seven White Cards under various shelves.

In her experience, finding seven or eight cards in one place was already the limit.

Just as she was about to leave, she saw a figure rushing toward her from a distance. The look in his eyes was clearly not that of a regular customer.

Since Perry Yates was standing right at the supermarket entrance and the person was moving too fast, she couldn’t avoid being slammed into hard.

Her body flew backward involuntarily, and her back crashed hard against a trash can in the corner behind her.

The sharp pain in her back made Perry Yates suck in a sharp breath.

Just as she was about to teach the person in front of her a lesson, her gaze caught sight of something, and her eyes widened in shock.

’So many... so many cards!’

Inside the trash can behind her, countless White Cards were tossed in like garbage, with a few cards of other rarities mixed in.

Meanwhile, after rushing into the supermarket, the man pulled out a kitchen cleaver. He began threatening people while stuffing all sorts of things into his backpack.

Seeing that he hadn’t noticed her, Perry Yates crouched down, pretending to be terrified to minimize her presence.

In reality, she was secretly reaching into the trash can, sweeping all the cards—along with the garbage—into her Space Backpack.

After doing all this, Perry Yates looked up at the man and noticed that while he was threatening everyone, his eyes kept darting toward the outside.

’This guy isn’t alone. He has accomplices!’

Just then, the sound of a vehicle suddenly came from outside.

A van screeched to a halt at the supermarket entrance, and several people got out.

These people walked straight into the supermarket and grabbed a nearby person as a hostage.

"Listen up! We’re only here for money, not to kill anyone. If you do as you’re told, you can all leave safely. Otherwise..."

The man suddenly pulled out a dagger and pressed it against the hostage’s neck. The slightest pressure would slice through the fragile throat, and blood would gush out.

The scene instantly terrified everyone present.

Just then, the supermarket manager came out. Seeing the situation, he broke out in a cold sweat.

In the gentlest tone he could manage, he said, "Don’t be rash. You can name your conditions, and we’ll do our best to meet them."

Hearing this, the man said, "We want food—the best, most filling, non-perishable stuff you have. And money. Get some of both ready for us."

The supermarket manager agreed without hesitation. "I’ll have someone prepare it right now. Can you please let the hostage go first?"

However, the man ignored the manager’s suggestion and instead pressed the dagger even harder against the hostage’s neck.

At this moment, Perry Yates was a bit speechless. She had already done so much to minimize her presence, yet these people still managed to pick her as a hostage.

’What, do I look like an easy target?’

As she thought this, a surge of anger rose within her. Countless invisible vines sprouted from Perry Yates’s body, silently passing through her clothes and piercing into the man’s body.

The man, who had been so menacing just a moment ago, suddenly felt as if his body had been hollowed out, leaving him incredibly weak.

His face turned deathly pale.

With a CLANG, the dagger fell to the floor, and Perry Yates was finally free from his grasp.

She put on a frightened expression and quickly moved away from the scene of the conflict. Looking at the now-unconscious man on the floor, a barely perceptible smile flashed in her eyes.

When the other men saw their accomplice suddenly collapse, they also realized something was wrong. There might be another player hidden among the crowd.

To be able to take one of them out so stealthily, the other party’s ability must be something special.
