Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 81: Solara 19Perry Yates stepped out of the Safe House, planning to use this brief moment of peace to explore and retrieve the supplies she’d gathered earlier.
After stowing the Safe House, Perry Yates brought out Claudia Vance.
Knowing full well the dangers lurking in the water, Perry Yates had no intention of foolishly traveling by water.
She concealed herself within Claudia Vance and flew through the sky, pausing occasionally to use her Space Backpack to pull supplies out of the water below.
After spending the entire morning collecting all the supplies from the water, she saw the sky turn overcast again. This time, Perry Yates didn’t return to her previous location; instead, she flew toward the coast.
She wanted to deploy Noah’s Ark and, at the same time, test the boundaries of the game.
The two previous games, whether it was the Twisted Jungle or Frostfell, had been much larger than Solara.
Once she reached the coast, Perry Yates kept piloting Claudia Vance farther and farther out to sea.
After an unknown amount of time, just as Perry Yates was starting to think the game had no distance limit, a system warning suddenly sounded in her ear.
[Player has exited the game area. Please return within ten minutes, or the system will proceed with player elimination.]
Hearing the system warning, Perry Yates didn’t hesitate for a second. She turned and headed back immediately, only letting out a sigh of relief when the alarm in her mind finally ceased.
She estimated her current distance from the coast. It was nearly eight thousand meters.
’The game area is actually pretty big.’
With that thought, a card appeared in Perry Yates’s hand: the five-star card, Noah’s Ark.
She flung the card, and a vessel that appeared to be made entirely of wood materialized on the water’s surface.
Perry Yates landed on Noah’s Ark and entered the cockpit.
Noah’s Ark didn’t require manual piloting. Though it was called a cockpit, it was actually just a small room that no one but its owner, Perry Yates, could enter.
From here, Perry Yates could observe every corner of the vessel.
’It even has a flight mode.’
A look of pleasant surprise appeared on Perry Yates’s face as she read the description of Noah’s Ark’s functions.
The water around Solara wasn’t deep enough for a proper voyage, so she had thought she’d have to drift at sea for a few days. But with a flight mode, she wouldn’t have to wait at all.
"Activate flight mode!"
As Perry Yates gave the command, the entire hull of Noah’s Ark began to shudder.
Then, the oars on both sides of the Ark began to move slowly. But instead of propelling the vessel forward or backward, it began to slowly lift into the air.
Seeing this, an idea began to form in Perry Yates’s mind.
’An ark this big would be a waste for just one person. I should sell tickets.’
With that thought, Perry Yates piloted Noah’s Ark toward the city.
Meanwhile, nearly everyone was cheering that the rain had stopped.
However, even though the downpour had ended, the water level showed no signs of receding.
Some people, their supplies long since exhausted, prepared to go down into the water to salvage what they could.
Vincent Stark was one of them.
At first, things went smoothly. He managed to pull quite a few useful items from the water.
Though the items were waterlogged, they were still usable.
As for whether they were sanitary... in times like these, who could afford to care?
Just as Vincent Stark was about to continue salvaging, he felt something brush against his leg.
’A fish?’
Vincent Stark’s eyes lit up. He’d salvaged a lot of stuff, but it was all waterlogged. A fish would be far more nutritious.
With that thought, Vincent Stark immediately began to feel around in the water, hoping to catch the fish and feast on it.
Vincent Stark’s mouth watered at the thought of sizzling fish.
He had no idea, however, that while he was fantasizing about his meal, he himself had already become the main course.
In an instant, Vincent Stark felt something pull him down with immense force. He had no time to react before he lost consciousness completely.
Blood bloomed across the surface of the water, dyeing it red. The other scavengers nearby stared, their eyes wide with horror. Forgetting their salvaged goods, they scrambled to get back to dry land.
"Quick, run! It’s a shark!"
As residents of a coastal city, their first instinct upon seeing such a scene was to think ’shark’.
Humans might not be on a shark’s regular menu, but the scent of blood could drive them into a frenzy.
But even with their quick reactions, it was already too late. Besides, their assailant wasn’t a shark at all, but a Deep Sea Cannibal—a creature with a particular fondness for human flesh.
As the number of Deep Sea Cannibals grew, the corpses underwater were no longer enough to satisfy them. How could they possibly pass up a fresh meal that delivered itself right to them?
And so, amid panicked screams, more and more people were attacked. The once-murky water was stained a deep, horrifying red.
After that, no one dared to enter the water. Even if they were starving and dehydrated, they wouldn’t risk going in to search for food.
But the Deep Sea Cannibals, having tasted fresh prey, were not satisfied. They were filled with greed. They needed more.
The humans, however, were no longer willing to enter the water. So, what were the creatures to do?
If they wouldn’t come into the water, then they would just have to be forced into it.
And so, countless Deep Sea Cannibals began to attack the surrounding buildings.
The people had thought they would be safe as long as they hid inside the buildings, that the "sharks" in the water couldn’t reach them. That is, until they watched with their own eyes as a perfectly stable building crashed down into the flood.
Everyone hiding inside was plunged into the water.
The people in the water thrashed and struggled, trying to escape, but...
Watching the water turn red with blood once more, the survivors finally realized their attackers weren’t sharks. They were something far more terrifying.
Just at this moment of pure despair, the sky darkened once more.
"Is it going to rain again?"
People instinctively looked up, expecting to see a sky thick with dark clouds. Instead, what they saw was an enormous ship, flying through the air.
The NPCs reacted to this scene with shock and even terror. Some wondered if the ship carried aliens, questioning if these newcomers were responsible for the horror they had just endured.
The players hidden among the NPCs, however, recognized it at a glance. The flying ship was an item—and a very high-level one at that.
At that moment, nearly everyone’s attention was captivated by the flying ship overhead.
