Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 82: Solara 20Although they had no idea where the airship in the sky came from, they realized it might be their only chance of survival.
If they stayed here, they would sooner or later become food for the monsters in the water.
"Ahem! Listen up, residents of Solara. I am the captain of Noah’s Ark. I’m not a villain, but I’m no saint, either. What just attacked you were fish known as Deep Sea Cannibals. They possess razor-sharp teeth and hard scales. Furthermore, their favorite food is human. As long as people are nearby, they won’t bother eating anything else.
Their teeth can even bite through reinforced concrete, a fact I’m sure you’ve already witnessed for yourselves.
Now, as the captain of Noah’s Ark, I am offering you a chance to come aboard. Here, you won’t have to worry about your safety or your next meal."
"I want to get on! I want to get on! I’ll pay a million!"
"I’ll pay two million!"
Some of the wealthy were the first to grow restless. They didn’t care if the speaker was telling the truth—their first priority was to get on board.
After all, boarding the ship might not guarantee safety, but staying here was a death sentence. They could already faintly hear noises coming from below.
"You may be rich, but I don’t accept money. I accept cards.
A third-class ticket costs two cards per person. It provides basic food and water.
A second-class ticket costs five cards per person. In addition to food and water, you will get a private room to rest in.
A first-class ticket costs ten cards per person. Gourmet food, fine wine... whatever you desire, we have it.
Second-class and first-class tickets are limited in number, so it’s first come, first served.
Also, in the interest of protecting our nation’s future, children ten years of age and under may board for free."
Perry Yates’s voice echoed through every corner of Solara, instantly causing a huge commotion.
However, not everyone knew what these "cards" even were.
This was especially true for the corporate drones slaving away at their nine-to-five jobs. They were already exhausted from catering to bosses and clients all day; how could they possibly have had time to pay attention to anything else?
And so, a scene like this unfolded in every corner of the city.
Those who possessed cards danced for joy, while others simply looked on in confusion.
At this point, some children began to explain just what these cards were,
And the very kids their parents usually accused of wasting their lives on frivolous hobbies suddenly became hot commodities.
This was particularly true for children under ten who also happened to be holding cards.
"Hey kid, how about selling one of your cards to me? I’ll give you a hundred thousand for it."
"Kid, don’t listen to that creep. Sell it to me, I’ll give you half a million!"
The seven-or-eight-year-old child was startled by the scene and looked helplessly back at their parents.
The child’s parents immediately pulled their kid behind them, eyeing the surrounding crowd with suspicion.
Similar scenes played out in every corner of the city.
Of course, some people had already boarded the ship.
Perry Yates saw the cards being delivered to her and realized that people had already started boarding.
She had assumed that since the first-class tickets were so expensive, few would buy them. She never expected them to be the first ones to sell out.
Without a doubt, all of the buyers were players, and several of them were even injured.
Taking a closer look, she noticed one of them was an old acquaintance.
He was the first person to order a four-star card from her.
’How did he get so badly injured?’
Looking closely, she saw that part of his arm was missing. His face was pale, a clear sign of excessive blood loss.
And the reason Sylas Sawyer was in this state was that he had been saving others.
Inside a cabin on the ship, Sylas Sawyer was surrounded by a group of people, their faces etched with deep sorrow.
All of them were from the Survival Game Administration. Sylas was the only person they knew who possessed a four-star card with three attributes. If something were to happen to him during the game, it would be a devastating blow to their organization. Moreover, they would likely be held responsible.
Not to mention, he was in this state entirely because he had been saving them.
So, for a multitude of reasons, both personal and professional, none of them wanted anything to happen to Sylas Sawyer.
That was why they had gritted their teeth and paid the exorbitant price for first-class tickets.
In their minds, anyone who could produce such a high-level item might also possess some means of healing.
While their minds raced, Perry Yates was also searching for something that could save him.
’He did pay, after all,’ she thought. ’I can’t just watch him die.’
’I could save him directly with a card, but my cards aren’t free. For now, I’ll just make sure he stays alive.’
Suddenly, Perry Yates remembered something.
’The white mushroom slime I collected during the first game.’
’With five-star items like the Life Flower and the Spiritual Spring, I’d almost completely forgotten about it.’
’I think it needs to be dissolved in water.’
With that thought, Perry Yates quickly grabbed a cup, mixed a dose of the slime with water, and then created a Wood Clone. After putting on the Cat Face Mask, she had the clone deliver the cup of Healing Water.
"Try this. It should be enough to keep him alive."
Perry Yates’s voice rang out abruptly, startling the grieving group.
Seeing the cup of white liquid in her hand, the group cast aside their hesitation. He was going to die anyway if they did nothing; they might as well take the gamble.
With that thought, one of them took the cup, pried open Sylas Sawyer’s mouth, and poured the liquid down his throat.
Then, something miraculous happened. Sylas Sawyer, whose breathing had been faint, gradually started to stabilize. His face was still deathly pale, but everyone knew he was going to live.
Seeing this, the group let out a collective sigh of relief and turned to thank the person who had brought the medicine.
Just then, one of them exclaimed, "You’re the owner of The Card Tavern!"
Perry Yates didn’t deny it, simply smiling and nodding.
She had chosen to appear in person, fully expecting to be recognized. In fact, she had done it on purpose—she wanted to show off her power in front of them so they wouldn’t be so arrogant the next time they visited The Card Tavern.
"Ma’am, what are you doing here?"
The words had barely left his mouth when a thought seemed to strike him. He asked in disbelief, "Ma’am... this airship doesn’t belong to you, does it?"
Perry Yates nodded. "This ship is indeed mine. It’s called Noah’s Ark. Pretty neat, huh?"
Her tone was full of pride, completely ignoring the stunned crowd around her.
"If I may be so bold... is this a four-star item?"
Hearing this, Perry Yates shot him a glance. "It’s five-star, of course. A four-star item wouldn’t have this kind of effect."
