Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Level Up 50

Leon crossed the open shaft without relying on the energy bridges.

He moved from support column to support column, using the raw strength of his frame and short, controlled applications of power to bridge the gaps. The Aura of the End-Game wrapped around him the entire way, dulling the tracking sensors that tried to lock onto his position from the lower levels. Beams of silver light lanced upward from defensive emplacements far below; most unraveled before they reached him. The few that retained coherence scored only shallow lines across the outer plates of the Void Monarch Set before fading.

The suspended command chamber grew larger as he climbed.

It was a perfect octahedron of black alloy and transparent crystal panels, hanging in the center of the fortress core on four thick cables of pure force. Circuits flowed across every surface in dense, rapid patterns. Through the crystal walls he could already see the figure waiting inside—a tall, humanoid construct of far higher refinement than anything he had faced on this floor. Its frame was sleeker, the plates fitted with microscopic precision, and a vertical crest of white light rose from the back of its head like a frozen plume.

The local sector authority.

Leon reached the outer ledge of the chamber and did not pause. He drove a focused pulse of Finality into the nearest crystal panel. Gray fractures spread instantly. The panel lost cohesion and collapsed into drifting ash. He stepped through the opening before the internal systems could seal it.

The interior of the command chamber was quiet and cold. Floating displays of geometric data surrounded the central figure. The authority construct turned its featureless head toward him the moment he entered. Its sensor crest brightened.

No voice spoke.

Instead, the chamber itself reacted.

The floating displays vanished. The walls lit with layered barrier matrices. The floor plates shifted, trying to lock his footing in place. At the same time the authority construct raised both arms, and a complex field of compressed spatial and energy restraints snapped toward Leon from every direction.

He expanded the Aura of the End-Game to fill the entire chamber.

Absolute darkness swallowed the barrier matrices and the restraint fields. Silver light died in expanding patches of gray. The floor plates stopped moving. The authority construct staggered half a step as its own systems registered a sudden, severe drop in operational efficiency.

Leon moved.

The construct was fast—faster than the previous command units. It met him with a flurry of adaptive strikes, its arms reconfiguring mid-motion between solid blades, energy projectors, and impact hammers. The Abyssal Stinger turned each attack aside or slipped past them. Where the dagger scored the refined plates, Necrotic Injection sank in, but the internal architecture of this unit was denser and more resistant. The damage did not spread as quickly.

The authority construct adjusted. It disengaged, floated backward on silent anti-gravity fields, and unleashed a concentrated barrage of multi-spectrum beams from both arms and the crest on its head. The chamber filled with intersecting lines of white and silver light.

Leon answered with a controlled Calamity Tide.

The violet wave expanded through the chamber, devouring the beams and continuing onward to wash across the construct’s frame. Protective fields flared and failed. Several external plates blackened and cracked. The unit reeled, then retaliated by flooding the chamber with a high-density spatial suppression grid designed to freeze all movement and skill activation.

The grid collapsed the moment it touched the Aura of the End-Game.

Leon closed the distance again.

This time he did not trade blows. He forced the engagement into the tightest possible range, where the construct’s longer reach and reconfiguring weapons became liabilities. The Abyssal Stinger found the junction beneath the left arm and drove deep. A burst of Finality Eclipse followed, focused and brutal. The arm locked and went dark. The construct tried to separate, but Leon stayed with it, cutting another critical line across the torso.

Warning lights flared across the authority unit’s frame. It made one final attempt—overloading its remaining power core in a suicidal discharge meant to take the entire chamber with it.

Leon slammed both hands against its chest and poured every available measure of Finality directly into the core.

The overload never completed.

The core went gray from the inside out. The white crest on the construct’s head flickered once and died. The entire frame locked in place, then began to disintegrate in cascading sections of ash and inert metal. Within moments the local sector authority of the Iron Circuit was nothing more than a scattering of dark fragments across the chamber floor.

Silence returned.

The surge of power settled into Leon’s frame with clean density. He stood still long enough for the integration to complete, then opened his status.

Threshold reached. The numbers felt solid.

Around him the command chamber began to shut down. The remaining circuits in the walls dimmed and went dark. Far below, the great power columns of the fortress lost their rotating rings of light one by one. Through the open crystal panels he could see defensive emplacements across the structure powering down in sequence.

The local authority of this sector had been erased.

Leon walked to the center of the chamber where the authority construct had made its last stand. Among the fragments lay a single intact object: a smooth, black metal tablet etched with dense silver circuitry. When he picked it up, a quiet system message registered at the edge of his vision.

[Sector Control Key acquired.]

[Administrative rights over Iron Circuit Sector 00 partially transferred.]

[Transit pathways to deeper Floor 9 sectors and the primary Floor 9 gate are now accessible.]

He stored the tablet.

Outside the chamber, new transit channels of violet light were already forming along the lower levels of the fortress, responding to the change in control. One of them angled clearly upward and outward—toward the next major node of Floor 9.

Leon stepped back through the broken crystal panel and began the descent, the Aura of the End-Game trailing behind him through the darkening corridors.

Floor 9 had lost its first true authority.

It would not be the last.
