Now that they were finally going to the capital, he was indeed excited.

However, his excitement died down a lot when he thought of the fate of nearly ninety percent of humans turning into zombies.

He couldn’t be sure that his family wasn’t among those.

What if he went to the capital and found that they were all gone? What then?

Ye Xuan seemed to know what he was thinking and patted him on the shoulder as a form of encouragement.

"Your family is filled with heathy people, they couldn’t be defeated by a little virus. So, don’t worry too much."

Of course, no one truly believed that. Didn’t many soldiers active on duty turn into zombies as well?

The zombie virus didn’t discriminate against who was more robust than the other.

However, being healthy did help to combat it and awaken superpowers.

Pei Ming also thought that worrying wouldn’t help, thus, he adjusted his mindset and began discussing their attack on the town overtaken by zombies.

After making sure that everything in the sect was going well, Ye Xuan drove out a modified military truck out of the sect.

Ever since the battle nearly a month prior, the illusion array surrounding the sect had been deactivated.

This was because people from other bases were visiting almost everyday. Especially leaders of both private and military bases.

After the strength displayed by the members of the sect including small children in the battlefield, everyone wanted to know how they trained.

Thus, the sect had become so busy the feet of those involved in entertaining guests never touched the ground.

Some people came and refused to leave, saying that they wanted to join the sect.

In just a month, the sect’s population had swelled from the original a hundred thousand who had joined over two years to a hundred and fifty thousand.

Over fifty thousand people joined in just a month.

Nevertheless, the joining criteria had not been relaxed. Those who just wanted to join for the glory of the sect or to learn their secrets and leave were turned down.

Don’t ask how the people in the sect differentiated them. As cultivators, this was a simple task.

Moreover, Chu Miao had said that as long as someone doesn’t use cultivation to do evil, the cultivation techniques could be taught to others.

The only thing that remained a Chu family closely guarded secret was the dual cultivation technique.

While it helped those who practice it advance quickly, it couldn’t be used by just anybody.

After researching it for a long time, Chu Miao had found out that it worked so well for her and Ye Xuan because they were genuinely in love with one another.

If someone else sought to use it for their own benefit and not because they were in love with their partner, it would produce a backlash that could cripple their cultivation.

Therefore, they decided to let it remain well-guarded in the Soul Ring.

Moreover, it seems that a restriction had been placed on the cultivation manual as well. It couldn’t be practiced unless one of the practitioners was of the Chu family bloodline.

Hence, outsiders couldn’t use it even if it was given to them.

Ye Xuan didn’t want to be entangled with the people visiting the sect. So, he drove straight out from the underground garage of the building they lived in and left the sect grounds.

Outside the sect, the city was no longer in ruins. Leaders had engaged earth and metal manipulators to construct new durable buildings.

Due to mutations extending to plants and animals, they avoided planting trees that might turn on them and consume people.

As Ye Xuan drove through the city, it was a hive of activity like a beehive.

He thought that, if production could be initiated once more, civilization would be restored.

Yet, he knew that was still a dream. Maybe things that could be produced by hand can still be done, but machinery was a problem.

Nonetheless, humans had high potential and adaptability. He didn’t doubt that in a few years, new types of products or machines will be produced.

He drove for an hour before reaching the city gates. He hadn’t realized how large the city was. Because he was used to Chu Miao teleporting them everywhere, their sense of distance was non-existent.

Only now did Ye Xuan realize that the city his compatriots had reclaimed was quite large.

If more cities like this were reclaimed, then the shrinking living space for humans could be expanded further.

He wondered if City S could be combined with City A once all the zombies were eliminated.

They were neighboring cities and even though there were small towns and villages in between, it wouldn’t be a big deal to cleanse them.

He had to talk to Old Man Shen once he came back.

The gate was manned by military personnel with full uniform and guns hanging on their bodies.

What made Ye Xuan even more surprised was that all the soldiers at the gate were either fifth or sixth level superpower users.

It seemed that the zombies recently had benefitted humans significantly no matter the reason for their onslaught.

Now with such strong individuals at the gate and city wall, if the enemy attacked, they could hold on for a period of time before reinforcement arrived.

Ye Xuan showed his identity card at the gate, to which, the soldiers saluted him with excitement bubbling in their chest yet they tried hard to contain it.

Once he was given the okay, he drove out and headed towards City S.

Outside the city was a different story. Buildings lay in ruin and roads were nearly impassable. In many cases, Ye Xuan had to stop his car, put it in his space ring and walk a stretch on the road to avoid piled up cars or damaged roads that had huge chunks missing before taking it out again to drive forward.

In this way, the journey to City S that would usually take seven to eight hours of drive extended to five days.
