A shadow plummeted from the sky.

It slammed into the earth with a deafening crash. A shockwave rippled outward, tearing chunks of stone from the ground and kicking up a blinding cloud of dust in every direction. Long silver hair whipped through the swirling debris. Bright arcs of lightning flickered across the woman’s body, hissing as they met the air.

Valentine had arrived.

Several meters away, Zeltan dug his fingers into the dirt and forced himself out of a fresh crater. His expression was grim. A large, blackened wound covered the center of his chest, thick smoke rising from the charred flesh. He pressed a hand to the injury. A sharp burning sensation radiated through his body, and his eyes narrowed.

The wound refused to heal.

Lifting his head, Zeltan studied the woman standing before him. Valentine’s face was cold and unreadable. For the first time since stepping onto this battlefield, Zeltan’s eyes betrayed genuine caution.

"Interesting..." His gaze lingered on the lightning crawling across her skin. "That attack contained Zen."

His eyes narrowed into slits. "Even the ape’s attacks didn’t contain Zen."

His face grew solemn. He realized then that he could not afford to underestimate this newcomer.

"State your name, human. You are the first human I’ve encountered in this world who has reached a level this close to Stage 2. You’re only a sliver of an opportunity away from advancing." He eyed the restless energy surrounding her. "Are you the true leader of the Rizen Group? Your attack contained Zen. That’s why my wound isn’t healing."

Valentine stared at him without the slightest change in expression.

"I have no interest in meaningless chatter. If you’re trying to buy time... Forget it." She took a single, deliberate step forward. "No matter who comes... Nobody is saving you today." Her eyes grew colder. "You people almost killed my nephew. So... I’m going to kill every one of you here."

Zeltan shook his head. "You are powerful. I’ll admit that. But you don’t possess enough strength to dominate me."

Valentine nodded. "Normally, I wouldn’t be so confident in saying something like that." She raised her bare hand. "But I have to thank Adrian and his people. They prepared the perfect battlefield for me. The entire area is practically saturated with lightning." A faint smile touched her lips. "And that makes this the best place for me to fight."

Zeltan’s face darkened.

Valentine reached toward the sky. "Gregory Secret Technique—"

Thunder roared above the thick clouds.

"Thunder Wrath!"

She whipped her arm down. The sky tore open. A blinding pillar of lightning cascaded from the heavens, striking Zeltan’s position with enough force to liquefy the stone beneath him.

Before the smoke could even thin, a second bolt crashed down. Then another. Thunder rained from the sky in an endless, punishing barrage, pounding the earth into glass and ash, each strike more vicious than the last.

Zeltan threw both hands toward the sky. "Blood Coffin!"

Thick crimson liquid erupted from the dirt beneath him. It swirled over his head, hardening into a massive, heavy red shell that sealed him inside in total darkness. The next lightning bolt slammed into the barrier. The coffin rattled under the sheer force, yet it held together.

Inside, Zeltan gritted his teeth. His muscles seized violently as raw electrical currents bled through the blood barrier.

"Damn it... Zen."

Another strike hammered the coffin, cracking the outer layer. The shell held, but the brutal shockwave rattled Zeltan’s bones. He coughed up a mouthful of warm blood, his face twisting in pain as he struggled to breathe.

Knowing the shell would shatter, Zeltan dismissed the blood barrier just as the next bolt descended. He pushed off the ground, darting away from the blast zone, but the lightning tracked his movement. The strike slammed directly between his shoulder blades.

The sheer kinetic force launched him forward like a cannonball. He smashed through a jagged wall of rubble, snapping thick stone pillars, before tumbling across the dirt and skidding to a brutal halt.

Zeltan slowly raised his head, he saw another flash gathering in the clouds.

"Tch." Zeltan reached deep into his torn robes, pulled out a crimson amulet, and crushed the gem in his palm. A thick, semi-transparent red dome flared to life, snapping into place mere milliseconds before the next lightning bolt hit. The heavy shield bowed inward under the fierce impact, sending ripples across its surface, but it held firm.

Zeltan took a ragged breath and shifted his gaze toward the Blood Altar.

A deep golden energy pulsed through the heavy chain embedded in Oshu’s chest, draining the power from Oshu’s body and feeding it into the stone altar. Oshu’s massive golden frame was shrinking. His fur faded, his muscles contracted, and his towering, thirteen-foot body began reverting to its original human form.

Zeltan’s eyes flickered. "Good... Just a few minutes more."

But his face turned grim. "Damn it. This is troublesome." He shot a glare at Valentine. "Thunder is the bane of the Abyssal Arts. Her power completely counters mine." He narrowed his eyes. "That’s why I destroyed that man’s thunder-attracting machine in the first place."

He looked back toward the altar. "Fortunately... I only need to hold on for a little longer. Once Ars is resurrected..." A sinister smile stretched across his battered face. "The two of us can deal with this troublesome woman together."

Outside the barrier, Valentine lowered her hand, staring intently at the glowing shield.

"Let’s see how much longer you can hide inside that turtle shell of yours."

Zeltan’s face twitched.

Valentine raised both hands, her palms facing the raging storm. "Gregory Secret Art—"

The clouds above her grew pitch black, churning with restless energy. Every stray spark of lightning in the air converged on her position, drawn like iron to a magnet.

"Thunder Empress Avatar."

The sky roared. A furious torrent of lightning cascaded from the clouds, swallowing Valentine in a deafening pillar of silver-white electricity. The blinding light forced Zeltan to shield his eyes.

The storm scattered, revealing Valentine.

Exquisite armor forged entirely from condensed thunder now covered her body. Elegant silver plates rested tightly over her chest, shoulders, arms, and legs, with fierce arcs of electricity dancing across the solid metal. Her long hair floated behind her, glowing under the dark sky. Her eyes shone with a cold, metallic light, and the very air around her crackled and hissed with raw power.

Zeltan’s face hardened.

Valentine lowered her stance, digging her heels into the dirt.

With a deafening crack of displaced air, she vanished. The ground beneath her feet shattered into dust as she launched forward. Leaving a trail of scorched earth in her wake, she closed the distance to Zeltan like a living thunderbolt.

His grin faded completely.
