A few minutes earlier, back at the camp, Danny and his family of three stood around Leo’s truck in total confusion.

The driver’s side door hung wide open.

Headlights and taillights flashed on and off in an erratic rhythm, paired with the harsh blare of the horn.

"Beep! Beep! Beep!"

Danny looked at Linda.

"Linda..."

"Sir Leo’s truck has been like this for the past fifteen minutes."

"What do you think it means?"

Linda furrowed her brow, deep in thought.

"Maybe Sir Leo is in trouble."

"Perhaps this is his way of telling us to take the truck and come rescue him."

Danny swallowed hard.

"But what if you’re wrong?"

"What if Sir Leo comes back and thinks we stole his truck?"

Linda shook her head.

"Even if that’s not what he intended, we can explain everything to him."

"I’m sure he’ll understand."

Danny shifted his weight, unsure.

Sensing his doubt, Linda rested a hand on his arm.

"Husband..."

"Sir Leo has done so much for our family."

"He saved us, gave us food, protection and even gave us weapons."

"This might be our only chance to repay some of his kindness."

The tension in Danny’s face melted away, giving way to a firm resolve.

"You’re right."

"I can’t keep hesitating forever."

He clenched his fists.

"I’ll take the risk."

Then he looked at Linda.

"Come on. Let’s go together."

"It’s not safe for you and Lily to stay here alone."

Linda nodded.

She scooped Lily up and climbed into the truck. The little girl leaned forward, wide-eyed at the strange interior.

Danny slid into the driver’s seat and pulled the door shut.

He scanned the dashboard.

"Was the truck always like this?"

He scratched his head.

"Something feels different."

Linda dismissed his worry.

"We don’t have time for that."

"Hurry and start it."

Danny stared at the dashboard.

"But how?"

"There are no keys."

He looked around again.

"And there’s no ignition either."

Without warning—

BEEP!

A screen embedded in the dashboard flared to life, displaying a strange, glowing symbol.

Danny leaned closer.

"What is this?"

Drawn to the light, he pressed his palm against the glass.

The screen flashed brighter.

[Fingerprint confirmed.]

[Ally recognized.]

[Starting engine.]

VRRRRROOOOM!

The machine roared into life.

The sheer volume of the engine made both Danny and Linda jolt in their seats.

Lily just tilted her head, trying to find the source of the mechanical voice.

Danny took a deep breath and gripped the steering wheel with both hands.

"Alright."

"Let’s do this."

He stepped on the accelerator.

The heavy vehicle surged forward.

Minutes later, they approached the frontline, where a large group of soldiers had blocked the road with steel and concrete barricades.

Danny slammed his hand onto the horn.

"BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!"

The soldiers spun around, eyes wide in shock.

"What the hell?"

"The truck is not stopping"

"Move!"

The armed men scrambled out of the way.

With no time to steer through the narrow opening, Danny gritted his teeth and braced for impact.

"Sir Leo..."

"I’m sorry!"

BOOOOM!

The heavy bumper slammed into the barricade.

Concrete chunks and twisted metal rained through the air, but the truck powered through without losing momentum.

Inside the cabin, Danny stared through the windshield in sheer disbelief.

The mechanical voice chimed in with absolute calm:

[Collision detected.]

[Calculating damage.]

[Damage sustained: 0%.]

Danny let out a long, heavy breath.

"Thank goodness..."

Another alert flashed on the screen.

[Detecting Original Owner’s Location.]

[Target detected.]

[Distance: 2 kilometers north.]

[Calculating optimal route.]

The steering wheel jerked to the left, turning on its own.

Danny pulled his hands back.

"Whoa!"

The vehicle corrected its course and accelerated straight toward Leo’s coordinates.

"Linda!"

"What is this truck doing?!"

Linda kept her eyes locked on the road.

"I think it’s taking us to Sir Leo."

Danny hovered his hands over the self-turning wheel.

"I hope you’re right."

The street ahead was an absolute mess.

A horde of zombies flooded the asphalt, with several monstrous aliens towering among them.

Linda turned her head toward the cargo hold.

"Husband."

"I remember Sir Leo keeping weapons in the back."

"Let me find a gun."

"You keep driving."

"If anything gets too close, I’ll provide support."

Danny gave a short nod.

Linda set Lily down on the passenger seat and slipped through the partition into the back.

As soon as she crossed the threshold—

The mechanical voice returned.

[Obstacles detected.]

[Enemy density: High.]

[Initiating Combat Mode.]

A panel on the dashboard shifted.

A small screen unfolded right in front of Lily.

The little girl leaned in, fascinated by the glowing button that appeared on the display.

She reached out her hand.

Danny caught the movement in his peripheral vision.

"Lily!"

"Don’t touch that—"

Too late.

Her finger tapped the glass.

BEEP!

[Secondary operator detected.]

[Initiating Stage 2 Transformation.]

All color drained from Danny’s face.

"Secondary... what?"

A loud KRRRKK echoed through the cabin.

The headrest of the passenger seat split apart.

A sleek mechanical helmet slid out, smoothly wrapping itself around Lily’s head before she could even blink.

"Eh?"

The metal plates shifted, sealing over her eyes and ears.

A transparent virtual display lit up in her field of vision.

She watched the floating lights for a second before a massive green button started flashing.

She gave it a firm press.

BEEP!

[Stage 2 Transformation initiated.]

BOOM!

The Apocalyptic Truck began to reshape itself.

Heavy metal plates ground against each other as they shifted across the hull.

Armor panels unfolded, locking into place, while hidden mechanisms whirred to life.

The dusty, worn exterior gave way to layers of thick, pitch-black armor.

The tires bulked outward, reinforced by solid metal rings and lined with vicious spikes.

The front grille broke apart with a loud screech.

A massive, reinforced ramming beam thrust forward like a steel battering ram.

KRRRCH!

Hatches popped open along the roof and side panels.

Arsenals of weaponry ascended from the dark compartments.

Heavy-caliber rifles.

Twin-barrel machine guns.

Box-shaped rocket launchers.

Lethal rotating blades.

The once ordinary truck was gone, replaced by a brutal combat vehicle.

It no longer looked like a transport rig, but a rolling fortress built for war.

Inside the cabin, Lily’s virtual interface shifted.

Her display beamed a live feed of the road ahead, bathing dozens of zombies and towering aliens in a bright red targeting glow.

Lily gasped.

"Ah!"

The monstrous, ugly faces flashing across her screen gave her a fright.

In a panic, she started mashing the glowing buttons on her display.

Tap after tap after tap.

BEEP!

BEEP!

BEEP!

The mobile fortress obeyed its commander.

RATATATATATATA!

The mounted machine guns unleashed a storm of lead.

BOOM! BOOM!

Heavy-caliber rifles deafened the street with their thunder.

WHOOSH!

Missiles launched from the roof tubes.

The rockets streaked straight into the thickest part of the horde.

BOOOOM!!

The asphalt erupted in a massive fireball.

Zombies shattered into pieces, and the sheer force hurled the massive aliens into the air.

Anything lucky enough to survive the explosive barrage ended up crushed beneath the truck’s spiked tires and ramming beam.

CRASH!

CRUNCH!

The roaring beast of a truck plowed forward without losing a fraction of its speed.

Danny sat paralyzed behind the wheel, his jaw hanging open as he watched the absolute carnage outside.

Over in the passenger seat, Lily’s initial panic vanished.

Her tiny fingers kept tapping away at the virtual console.

With every explosion on the screen, a bright, excited gleam filled her eyes.

To the little girl, it was nothing more than an arcade game.

"Again!"

She slapped her hand against a flashing icon.

BOOOOM!

Another cluster of monsters vanished in a cloud of fire and smoke.

Lily clenched her little fists in triumph.

"Yay!"

Linda burst through the partition from the cargo hold, gripping an automatic rifle.

"What happened?"

"I heard so much gunfire!"

Danny kept his eyes glued to the windshield, shell-shocked.

"I..."

"I also don’t know what’s going on "

He raised a trembling finger and pointed at his daughter.

"I think she’s driving the truck."

Linda’s expression froze.

"What?"

Blocks away, Leo watched the chaotic scene unfold.

A bright gleam shone in his eyes from beneath his hood.

His ordinary transport had turned into a literal war machine.

A wide smile crept across his face.

"So that’s what you’re capable of now "

Grandpa Jiro stood beside him, staring at the advancing juggernaut in utter disbelief.

"Kid..."

"What’s the deal with your truck?"

He narrowed his eyes at the bristling guns and reinforced armor.

"I thought it was just a broken-down truck."

A fierce grin broke across the old man’s face.

"I guess appearances really can be deceiving."

Leo nodded in agreement.

"Old man."

"Let’s clear the area before the truck reaches us."

Grandpa Jiro tightened his grip on his sword hilt.

"Good idea."

The two warriors charged into the fray.

SHING!

Jiro’s katana flashed like lightning, sending a zombie’s head spinning into the air.

In perfect sync, Leo’s twin blades carved a bloody path through another cluster of enemies.

They pushed forward, shoulder to shoulder.

As the deafening roar of the truck drew closer, their strikes grew faster.

Pinned between the two fighters and the relentless barrage of the mobile fortress, the massive horde surrounding them crumbled into nothing.
