The giants recovered from their shock.

"KILL HIM! AVENGE COMMANDER KRAGOR!"

Technology embedded in their helmets activated, with internal systems working to filter the mental pressure crushing down on them.

The Slaughter Intent’s effect weakened significantly as advanced shielding kicked in.

Then they moved with coordinated precision as two weapons came from different sides simultaneously.

Damian saw them coming through his madness-tinted vision, and knew he couldn’t dodge both.

So he made his choice.

’Doesn’t matter if I get hit... Just need to kill one more before they crush me...’

He pushed toward the giant on his left, axe rising for another strike.

The edge of the massive hammer from his right caught his extended arm, the weapon was simply too big to dodge.

CRUNCH

The limb separated at the elbow, bone and flesh tearing as the weapon continued its arc.

But even as his severed arm spun away, his remaining hand kept the axe moving.

’DIE!’

SLASH

The blade caught the giant’s throat.

Blood sprayed as the warrior stumbled backward, both hands coming up to the wound.

Damian hit the ground hard, his body rolling across stone as pain exploded through his nervous system from the missing limb.

But Slaughter Intent kept blazing, kept pushing him forward.

’Not done... NOT DONE YET!’

An axe came down where he’d landed.

BOOM

He rolled sideways, the blade missing by inches and cratering the floor.

Telekinesis pulled him upward.

But a spear thrust caught his right leg mid-flight.

SLICE

The limb came off at the knee as he crashed back to the ground.

BAM

His vision went dark at the edges, blood loss and pain overwhelming his senses.

But through it all, one thought burned.

’Kill... kill... KILL!’

He pushed himself forward with his remaining arm and leg, dragging his broken body toward the giant whose throat he’d cut.

The massive warrior was on his knees now, blood pumping between his fingers.

"DAMN... HUMAN..."

The giant’s mouth opened to speak.

And Damian moved as Telekinesis launched his body forward with everything he had left.

He flew directly into the giant’s open mouth.

"WHA–"

Damian landed in the back of the throat, his axe already swinging with Abyssal Slaughter blazing.

SLASH SLASH SLASH

One second of pure violence, carving upward through the soft palate into the brain cavity.

And the giant’s entire body went rigid, then it slowly collapsed.

BOOM

The corpse hit the ground like a felled tree.

Damian tumbled out of the mouth, covered in blood and viscera, landing on top of the massive chest.

Outside the dome, candidates stared in horror and awe.

"He just... killed another one..."

"With one arm and one leg..."

"He flew INTO its mouth–"

Inside the dome, Damian threw his head back and laughed.

The sound came out broken and mad.

"TWO!"

His voice cracked.

"IS THAT ALL YOU’VE GOT?! I’VE KILLED HUNDREDS OF YOU BEFORE! HUNDREDS!"

Blood and saliva flew from his lips.

"COME ON! DIE FOR ME! DIE DIE DIE!"

The three remaining giants backed away, their weapons trembling.

"He’s like a demon... using Slaughter Intent like that."

"Commander Kargor and Lieutenant Krath are both dead..."

"How is he still moving?!"

DING

A sound like a bell chimed through the dome.

One minute had passed.

The giants looked toward where the barrier should be opening.

But it remained sealed.

"The ward... it’s not opening..."

Damian’s laughter cut off as Icarus’s voice carried through the barrier.

"In order to pass the assessment, you have to kill them all."

The giants’ helmets turned back toward Damian.

"Then we finish this monster!"

The three remaining massive warriors advanced as one.

Damian tried to stand on his remaining leg, but couldn’t.

One arm gone, one leg gone, broken ribs grinding with each breath.

His vision swam, blood loss making the world tilt sideways.

’All they need is a single strike to kill me...’

The thought came distant.

’Unless...’

His remaining hand touched the giant corpse beneath him–

’Devour!’

–And black energy erupted from his body that wasn’t Aura.

The candidates outside recoiled.

"What is that?!"

"Some kind of skill that works without Aura?!"

"How is that possible–"

The black energy spread across the giant’s corpse like living oil, covering thirty meters of dead flesh in an instant.

Then the body began dissolving, essence being consumed and converted.

Damian’s stats, mainly strength, increased slightly.

Strength: 759 → 768

The benefit wasn’t much, but energy flooded his system, pure vitality extracted from consumed flesh.

His severed arm didn’t regrow but the bleeding stopped completely.

His broken ribs shifted, they didn’t heal but stabilized enough to function.

’My speed isn’t enough... Even though they are slower than me, they are making up for it using coordination.. ’

His mind sharpened as power filled him.

’Giants have three times the strength... I can’t change that fact...’

A boot came down toward his head.

Telekinesis yanked him aside at the last instant.

BOOM

’But I can control my own body better!’

He pushed Body Control past its limits.

Every muscle fiber responding with inhuman precision.

Every movement optimized for maximum efficiency.

And his control, which had been stuck at B+ for a long time, suddenly broke through.

Body Control: B+ → A-

And Damian disappeared.

One heartbeat he was on the ground.

The next he was on a giant’s shoulder, his axe buried in the warrior’s eye socket.

"AHHHHH!"

SLASH SLASH SLASH

Abyssal Slaughter activated three times in rapid succession.

The blade carved through the eye, through bone, into brain matter.

"GUH–"

BOOM

The giant collapsed.

But Damian was already moving, black energy erupting to consume the fresh corpse as he fell.

His strength increased again.

Now only two giants were left.

They backed away, weapons raised but trembling.

"What are you?!"

Damian’s remaining leg found purchase on the dissolving corpse.

’Kill kill kill KILL KILL!’

He launched himself faster than before, the improved Body Control letting him redirect mid-air with precision that defied physics.

His axe caught the next giant’s throat.

SLASH

The warrior stumbled and Damian rode the falling body down, Abyssal Slaughter working with precision.

SLASH SLASH SLASH SLASH

"DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!"

Each strike accompanied by a scream, his voice raw and broken.

The throat opened completely.

"MONSTER... HUMAN MONSTER..."

Devouring energy spread across the fourth corpse.

Now only one giant remained.
