The rank 2 region of Emrea City’s danger zone was like a rainforest. Rain fell heavily in the forest.

Aiden Vhorn was currently seated on top of a very tall tree.

He observed the man who had launched the lightning palmprint.

The man was floating somewhere far away in the clouds, away from the danger zone.

Aiden heard him speak. His hearing sense was working.

The man had been muttering some things to himself. After that, the man left.

From the man’s musings, Aiden had understood a couple of things.

"He’s definitely from the Cyrenthia Empire. It seems they want zone zero for themselves too. According to the background checks I did on zone zero in the aircraft, it used to be a city located on the borders of both the Cyrenthia Empire and Eldorath Empire. It’s safe to say that it’s in the territory of the Cyrenthia Empire and the Eldorath Empire at the same time. So, the Cyrenthia Empire has every right to also consolidate zone zero for themselves. If they allow the Eldorath Empire to secure the place for themselves, they are afraid that the Eldorath Empire military will use zone zero to consolidate the strength of their high ranking officers and cause trouble for them," Aiden thought.

"The man is likely to return to the Cyrenthia empire and report this to the higher ups of the Cyrenthia Empire military. However, considering the geopolitical state between the Eldorath Empire, and neighboring empires such as the Theron Empire, Drax Empire, Zorin Empire and the Cyrenthia Empire, I don’t think the Cyrenthia Empire and Eldorath Empire higher ups will let this altercation escalate into a war. They are not stupid. Every empire military has gate incidents and chaotic beasts they are dealing with at the Frontlines. Plus, if the Eldorath Empire and Cyrenthia Empire goes to war, it will weaken them. The other neighboring empires will most likely use that opportunity to strike the Cyrenthia Empire and Eldorath Empire, and absorb both empires into theirs."

Aiden was quiet, eyes glinting with calm calculations.

"What then is the most likely reaction to this occurrence?" Aiden thought. "This will definitely turn into a covert game between the two sides since they can’t afford to ever resort to overt conflicts. Each side will most likely send operatives to zone zero to claim the place till one side decides to give up. Seriously, a simple mission has turned into some sort of interempire covert skirmish. Anyway, I don’t think the Cyrenthia Empire Military will let any Eldorath Empire operative who kills their operatives roam around like nothing happened. They will place them on a kill list and get rid of them, since they can’t afford to go after the Eldorath Empire Military. The Eldorath Empire Military will also resort to similar methods if a Cyrenthia Empire operative kills many of their operatives. However, neither side will intervene in the assasination attempts on the lives of their operatives who cause trouble for the other side. This is the most likely approach they will resort to, considering they want to avoid a war."

Aiden was quiet for a few moments.

What did this mean for him?

"First I have industries that want me dead in the Eldorath Empire. Then, the Paranormal Liberation Order is using the emperor, Deepsea and the other three admirals to get rid of me. The moment I kill operatives from the Cyrenthia Empire in zone zero, they will place a kill target on my back. The Eldorath Empire won’t intervene. I will be on my own. Having another empire on my back can get me killed.

"That’s too many enemies for my current strength to handle. I can’t be overconfident. It looks like I need to adjust my plans a little. I need to leave the southern continent after leaving zone zero. Perhaps, I can take advantage of zone zero to push my power to the level of a beginner rank 3 warrior. After that, I will leave the southern continent to the western continent and lay low there. The Eldorath Empire can’t confirm my status as dead or alive. It will just be stated that I disappeared in zone zero. So, I can’t be labeled a deserter. I will still be an operative who went on a mission and hasn’t returned yet. When I leave to the western continent and my strength gets to the level of a legendary rank 3 warrior, then I will return to handle the Cyrenthia Empire, the Industries in the Eldorath Empire that want me dead, Deepsea, Emperor Leonis and the three other admirals.

"But before I leave for the western continent, I will need to inform Desmonda and the others about my decision to leave so that I don’t end up making them worry about my safety," Aiden decided.

His gaze scanned the rank region of Emrea City’s danger zone and spread across it. The rank 2 region was pretty large. Aiden saw several chaotic beasts lurking and hunting in the forest.

"Zone zero, formerly known as Astro City, is located beyond the danger zone of Emrea City," Aiden thought.

"There’s no way to get there by vehicle. However I need to make some preparations before heading there. I should visit the Alchemist Association Branch in one of the Districts of the city and purchase some rank 3 poisons before I leave for zone zero. Looks like upgrading my rank in the Association Database was useful. I guess I might end up squandering all my weekly stipend on rank 3 poisons today," Aiden thought.

He flapped his crimson wings and left the rank 2 region of the danger zone, headed towards the entrance of the danger zone.

Eventually, he arrived at the entrance of the danger zone.

The crimson wings and the crimson armor turned into blobs of blood and returned into him.

Aiden walked towards the outpost in a hoodie, jeans and sneakers. He had changed his military uniform into that of a normal person.

When he arrived at the edge of the outpost, he greeted the two personnels at the gate. They were too focused on their conversation to even realize someone had greeted them. They simply nodded to the person who had greeted them and returned to their conversation.

"I’m telling you, it was something else."

"The two operatives said it was a lightning palmprint."

"Shit!"

"Yeah. It destroyed the aircraft and the operatives in it. Only four of them managed to escape."

"I heard one of them had crimson wings."

"Yeah, he was also in some crimson battlesuit."

"Wait... why does this sound so familiar?"

"The Crimson Reaper? He was the one?"

"Yeah, they said some legendary rank 2 warrior was with the advanced rank 3 captains."

"Now it makes sense. Only someone as terrifying as him will be added to a team of elite advanced rank 3 warriors for a mission."

"Indeed. His achievements at the Frontlines are all over the place. But I heard he has been blacklisted for discovering four admirals. Sigh."

"Indeed. It’s such a pity."

Aiden passed by them and headed towards the road.

He was currently holding an umbrella above his head. The rains were more heavier than before.

He ordered a cab quickly.

The cab arrived.

"Where to sir?" The driver asked. He found the man’s face strangely familiar. But he didn’t know where he recalled the man’s face from.

"Kindly take me to the Alchemist Association branch in the district please," Aiden replied.

"Hop in sir."

"Alright."

Aiden’s umbrella disappeared into his storage bracelet.

He entered the cab. It bolted off.
