The ship cut through the empty space of the lower universe with quiet, steady power.

Fourteen days of travel stretched ahead of them. The debris field around the shattered remains of Vorthex Prime had already faded behind them, and the stars outside the observation windows looked colder and clearer than anything Lian had seen from the surface of a planet. There was no atmosphere to soften the light, no dust to blur the edges. Only endless black and distant points of fire.

Lian spent most of the first day on the bridge, learning the ship’s systems under Lirien’s guidance. The little girl stood beside the main console, her small hands moving across the holographic interfaces with casual precision. She explained the navigation protocols, the weapon arrays, the internal security systems, and the long-range scanners in a calm, measured voice. Every system was more advanced than anything Lian had encountered before. The ship was not just a vessel. It was a fortress capable of surviving the higher universe.

Elara trained in one of the secondary training rooms. She still refused to face live opponents, but her footwork and blade forms had grown sharper. The holographic training construct Lirien had given her pushed her harder each day. Lian watched her for a while from the observation panel. She moved with focused intensity, her thunder blade cutting clean lines through the air. The zone she entered during training was real. Time seemed to slow for her when she was inside it.

Lian returned to his own training that evening.

The main training room opened at his command. The white walls and floor remained the same, but the atmosphere felt different now that they were in open space. Lirien stood near the entrance, watching.

“Continue with the representative?” she asked.

“No,” Lian said. “Not today.”

He needed to focus on his foundation. The repeated deaths had shown him the truth with brutal clarity. His cultivation had been rushed. The forbidden method of consuming cores and organs had pushed him forward, but it had left cracks in his base. At Stellar Circuit Star 1, he should have been stronger. Instead, even a lowered version of the representative had overwhelmed him.

Lian sat cross-legged in the center of the room and began circulating his Qi with deliberate care. The black liquid inside him stirred, cold and responsive. He no longer tried to force it into the shape of a blade. Instead, he focused on integrating it more deeply with his core. The liquid was part of him now. He needed to understand it rather than command it.

Hours passed.

When he finally opened his eyes, Lirien was still standing in the same place.

“Your foundation is stabilizing,” she said. “Slowly. That is good. Rushed power is fragile power.”

Lian nodded. He stood and stored the black blade back into his ring.

“The Mindweaver Crown,” he said. “When we reach the trading hub, I want a secure place to examine it properly.”

“I already prepared a shielded chamber,” Lirien replied. “No external scans will detect it once we are there.”

Lian looked at her for a long moment. The little girl remained expressionless, but there was something almost protective in the way she spoke. She was bound to him, and she took that bond seriously.

Outside the ship, the stars continued their silent watch.

Fourteen days remained until they reached the trading hub.

Lian closed his eyes again and returned to his cultivation.
