Chapter 1032 - 465: The Enormous Altar

Chapter 465: The Giant Altar

At last, that dim star grew clearer and clearer in Xu Ran’s eyes. It was not a true star at all, but a ruined planet whose bulk had been devoured by the Power of Nothingness, its surface pitted and scarred, crisscrossed by vast fissures and charred marks.

Yet deep within this planet, there pulsed a faint but unyielding Fire aura, like a lighthouse in the dark, guiding Xu Ran’s way.

He plunged sharply into the planet’s atmosphere; the searing friction made the golden light around him blaze forth, dispersing the Power of Nothingness that tried to coil up around him.

"Roar!"

The Pioneer followed close behind. Its colossal body slammed straight into the atmosphere, tearing it apart with a deafening crash. Countless Void Hunters and Fallen surged in like a tide, drowning the ruined planet in an instant.

Xu Ran had no time to entangle with them. He drove straight for the Source of that Fire aura deep within the planet.

The planet’s interior was a twisted, uncanny sight. The ground had collapsed, magma streamed everywhere, Power of Nothingness intertwined with the remnant Power of Cosmic Origin, weaving together into deadly Energy storms.

Relying on his sense for Fire, Xu Ran darted through the labyrinthine underground passages. He could feel that the deeper he went, the richer that Fire aura became, accompanied at the same time by an ancient and mighty Power of Nothingness.

He knew that this planet had once been a place guarded by Fire, but in the end it had been breached by the Master of Nothingness. The Fire had been suppressed, even corroded by Nothingness.

Finally, he arrived at a vast underground space.

Here lay ancient ruins completely eaten away by the Power of Nothingness. Shattered stone pillars, collapsed halls—everything was veiled in a layer of ashen Deathly Silence. Yet at the heart of that silence stood a giant altar, and atop the altar a faint golden flame stubbornly flickered.

This flame was even weaker than the Ancient God’s Fire Xu Qinghan had fused with before, nearly extinguished. Around it coiled an extreme concentration of Power of Nothingness, as if ready to swallow it whole at any moment.

"Another Fire!" A glint of joy flashed through Xu Ran’s eyes. He knew that this Fire was the last hope of this planet.

However, just as he moved to approach the altar, a pitch-black Void Barrier suddenly rose up around it, completely shrouding that Fire.

"Foolish Fire Ignition bearer! Did you think the Master of Nothingness would let you succeed so easily?!" The Pioneer’s voice came from behind. Its massive form blocked the only exit, its icy eyes locking onto Xu Ran.

"This Fire has already been utterly suppressed by the Master of Nothingness. It will become a part of Nothingness, become fuel for the Master of Nothingness’ Power!" The Pioneer snarled, lifting its giant claws to point at the Fire on the altar. "And you will share its fate!"

Xu Ran’s expression grew grave. He could feel that the Void Barrier was abnormally powerful; even with his current Power, it would be hard to break it in a short time.

"Get out of my way!" he bellowed, lunging at the Pioneer. The Power of Fire exploded around him, turning into blades of golden light that cleaved toward the Pioneer.

He knew he had to hold the Pioneer back, buy himself time.

The Pioneer let out a disdainful snort. It raised its giant claws, and the two clashed in fierce combat. Two mighty beings were locked in a brutal battle within this ancient underground cavern.

Xu Ran was powerful, but the Pioneer was, after all, a top Combat Power under the Master of Nothingness, and moreover it was bolstered by the Master’s will, its Power far beyond the ordinary. Every strike it unleashed carried Power of Nothingness that corroded all things, trying to devour Xu Ran entirely.

As Xu Ran fought, he split his Heart Spirit to sense the Fire on the altar. He found that under the suppression of the Void Barrier, that Fire grew ever weaker, as though it could go out at any moment.

"I can’t let it go out!" Anxiety surged through his heart.

Just then, Xu Qinghan in his arms let out a weak moan.

Xu Ran’s heart trembled. He lowered his head to look, only to see the mark of the Ancient God’s Fire at Xu Qinghan’s brow faintly flickering, emitting a weak golden radiance.

Though feeble, that light was resonating with the Fire on the altar!

"Fire resonance!" A sharp gleam flashed in Xu Ran’s eyes. He recalled the Secret Skill Xu Qinghan had unleashed before, one of the deepest mysteries in the Guardian’s legacy.

He knew that although Xu Qinghan was unconscious, the Ancient God’s Fire within her was instinctively sensing the surrounding Fires.

He suddenly carried Xu Qinghan to the altar, bringing her close to the Void Barrier.

"What are you doing?!" The Pioneer roared in alarm. It had sensed the faint yet ancient aura at Xu Qinghan’s brow—that was a Power it feared.

Xu Ran ignored it. He gently laid Xu Qinghan down before the altar, then thrust out his hand, pressing it to Xu Qinghan’s brow as he poured the Power of Fire within him, continuously, into her body.

He knew that the Fire within Xu Qinghan had been greatly depleted and needed replenishment. At the same time, he hoped that by nourishing her with Fire, he could fully revive the Ancient God’s Fire in her body and thus ignite the Fire on the altar.

As Xu Ran’s Fire poured in, the golden glow at Xu Qinghan’s brow grew ever brighter. That light leapt like a living thing, exuding an ancient and mighty aura.
