The walk back to Aethelgard was performed in a silence so heavy it felt tangible. The forest, which had felt like a deathtrap only an hour ago, now seemed small—irrelevant.
Lyra walked with a strange, fluid grace, her hand occasionally drifting to her lips, her eyes unfocused as she replayed the heat of the crevice and the subsequent explosion of golden light. Beside her, Selene’s shoulders were no longer slumped; she marched with the phantom weight of a Paladin’s armor, her skin still tingling from the divine "buff" that had momentarily turned her blood into liquid fire.
Every time they glanced at Astraea, who led the way with a subtle, predatory sway of her hips, they didn't just see a roommate or a talented student. They saw the Truth.
On Astraea’s inner thigh, hidden beneath the hem of her travel-worn tunic, the tattoo was no longer a faint outline. It was a deep, saturated gold, pulsing with a slow, rhythmic throb. It fed on the "Silent Awe" radiating from the two girls behind her.
"By the Sun God..." Selene finally whispered, her voice cracking the silence. She looked at Astraea’s back, her grey eyes brimming with a mix of terror and absolute, fanatical devotion. "The legends... they said the Sun God tore the world asunder to create the light. But you... you just tore that thing apart like it was damp parchment. Without a single chant."
"The Sun God is a boaster who enjoys the sound of his own thunder," Astraea remarked, not looking back. Her voice was mortal again, but there was a lingering resonance, a "Sovereign" edge that commanded the very shadows to move out of her way. "He values the spectacle. I value the result."
Lyra stepped up beside Astraea, her face flushed a deep crimson. "The... the gift Vesta gave you. It felt... it felt like I was being filled with the sun itself. I can still see the veins in the leaves. I can hear the heartbeat of the owls in the canopy."
Astraea stopped and turned. She reached out, her fingers catching a stray strand of Lyra’s hair. The mark on her thigh gave a sharp, warm flare as she touched her first Apostle.
"That is because you are no longer just a 'Support' girl, Lyra," Astraea said softly, her golden eyes locking onto the archer’s. "You have tasted the essence of a Vanguard. You have worshipped at the true altar. From this night on, the Academy’s lessons will feel like ash in your mouth. You belong to the Sovereign now."
Re-entering the Gates
As the iron gates of Aethelgard loomed in the moonlight, the trio adjusted their rags to hide their gear and their glow. The guards—the same men who had mocked Astraea upon her arrival—barely spared them a glance, seeing only three tired, muddy girls returning from a late-night "study" session.
They had no idea that the balance of power in the Academy had just shifted.
As they crossed the courtyard toward the Grace Wing, Astraea noticed the lights were still on in the High Council’s tower. The "Elites" were likely still sleeping in their griffin-down beds, dreaming of social standing and minor barrier spells.
"Go to the room," Astraea commanded as they reached the door to 4-B. "Wash the blood from your hands, but keep the fire in your hearts. Tomorrow, we don't just attend class. We begin the harvest."
Selene paused at the door, looking back at Astraea with newfound intensity. "The harvest, Astraea?"
Astraea leaned against the doorframe, the shadow of the hallway making her look like a statue of ancient marble. "There are a hundred other girls in this school being told they are 'weak' or 'passive.' Tonight, I proved to you what a woman can be. Tomorrow... we start finding the others."
The mark on her thigh throbbed one last time before settling into a steady, satisfied warmth. The harem was small, but the foundation was unbreakable. The Sovereign was back.
---
The small room was thick with a heavy, magnetic tension. Lyra and Selene lay in their respective cots, but their breathing was jagged—far too shallow for sleep. Every time they closed their eyes, they saw the golden explosion in the woods; every time they inhaled, they tasted the lingering scent of ozone and Astraea’s divine heat.
Astraea sat on the edge of her own bed, her back against the cold stone wall. She was staring at her hands, flexed into claws. She could still feel the phantom sensation of the Chimera’s jaw snapping under her grip.
A moment of glory, she thought. But only a moment.
She looked down at the mark on her thigh. It was pulsing with an insistent, rhythmic glow that shone right through her thin linen nightgown. She began to calculate with the cold, logical mind of a war general. If the adoration of two girls provided sixty seconds of Tier-One Divinity, what would a dozen provide? What would a hundred?
If I harvest more frequently, if the worship is deeper... could I bridge the gap? Astraea mused. But how much is needed to tip the scales? How many souls must I claim before the Heavens can no longer keep the gates barred against me?
As if the Divine Phallus were listening to her ambition—or perhaps responding to the desperate, silent longing radiating from the other two cots—it began to manifest.
The room was suddenly flooded with a soft, amber light. The shaft of translucent gold shimmered into existence, pushing against the fabric of her gown. It wasn't just a physical manifestation; it was a beacon. It broadcast a sense of absolute safety, overwhelming power, and a sovereign’s right to be served.
Astraea looked over. In the dim light, she saw Lyra and Selene sitting up. Their eyes were fixed on the glow between Astraea’s legs, their pupils blown wide, their faces flushed with a heat that had nothing to do with the summer night.
They didn't speak. They didn't have to. The "support" girls were gone; in their place were two maidens who had tasted the sun and found the moon wanting. They moved as one, sliding off their cots and crawling across the cold floor toward Astraea’s bed.
Astraea watched them, her heart thudding with a predatory rhythm. She saw the way Lyra’s hands reached out, trembling with a need to touch the divine, and how Selene’s lips parted in a silent prayer for the strength only Astraea could provide.
"You cannot sleep," Astraea said, her voice a low, vibrating hum that seemed to resonate in their very bones.
"The light..." Lyra whispered, her fingers hovering just inches from the glowing phallus. "It’s calling us. I feel... cold without it now."
"We want to be yours," Selene added, her voice thick with a paladin’s burgeoning fanaticism. "Properly. Not just in a moment of panic. Claim us, Astraea. Make us your foundation."
Astraea leaned back, a slow, sovereign smile spreading across her face. She reached out, placing one hand on Lyra’s head and the other on Selene’s shoulder, drawing them into her. The mark on her thigh roared with heat at the girls proximity, sensing the total surrender of their wills.
"Then come," Astraea commanded, her gold-flecked eyes shining with the first real spark of her restored kingdom. "Feed the fire, and I will make you legends."
As they moved to worship her in the quiet of Room 4-B, Astraea realized that "harvesting" wasn't just about power. It was about possession. And she was going to possess every worthy soul in Aethelgard.
