Chapter 442: Chapter 442: Loss(2)

" AHHHHHH!" Siri screamed at the top of her lungs. Her gut ranching screamed pierced through space.

Haruko grabbed her and flew away trying to escape from the explosion caused by Ndu’s self destruct.

Even with his speed he still couldn’t escape fast enough, his back was burnt through to the bone.

He lost his left leg on the process as well but he managed to protect Siri. When he was certain they were at a safe distance he fainted.

The laws on that explosion raged inside his body trying to destroy him. Siri grabbed his unconscious body tightly.

She didn’t have any healing abilities and all of her beasts were dead but she managed to use her own laws to control the raging laws inside him.

She watched the centre of that explosion with tearful eyes. " Ndu." She whispered softly.

But the kind smile of a giant she was used to wasn’t there anymore. Siri could’ve hold back her tears.

She bawled her eyes out in the void of space, a piece of her hoped Ndu survived, that this was just an illusion.

A nightmare she would wake up from but reality was not so kind, her friend was really gone and she would never see him again.

The only thing she could do now is get Haruko to safety, after all he was wounded trying to protect her.

Just as she turned around she felt a piercing gaze piercing into her back. She turned around and in the distance stood a ragged figure.

It was the herald, he had lost his right arm and his armour had cracks all over it with black blood leaking through.

His gaze towards them was filled with nothing but hatred, long gone was the arrogance and disregard for them he had before.

Now, she could feel his killing intent as clearly as day. It was obvious he was no longer at full strength.

Ndu’s sacrifice did a number on him but even so, Siri had no way to deal with him at all.

Her power depended entirely on her summoned beasts, without them she was basically helpless.

That was within her own realm though, compared to those at rank 6 and below she would still be monster.

But those who had comprehended laws can break through her law barrier and without her law barrier, she was as weak as teenage girl to them.

The herald would’ve still been stronger if he lost both arms and a leg let alone just losing a single arm.

The herald moved, his body blurred and he appeared In front of her like a shadow with his fist pulled back like a bowstring.

Then he punched, she watched with despair as the gigantic fist punched towards her face with an overwhelming force.

She knew, if that punch landed it would explode her head like a watermelon. She closed her eyes and waited for death.

Clang, the sound of clashing metals reached her ears, she opened her eyes she saw a katana blocking the fist.

She looked at Haruko in her arms, his right arm was holding the katana but upon closer look.

He was still unconscious, he protected her subconsciously even when he had lost consciousness.

Siri felt helpless, her friends were protecting her, all she was, was just a hindrance to them.

She smiled bitterly, " I’m sorry, I’m sorry for being so useless." She cried she threw Haruko with all her strength.

Since they were in the void of space without any resistance, his body accelerated to near the speed of light.

Then she turned and faced the herald by herself, she grabbed her flute and played, Siri was desperate.

In her desperation she tried something she never thought possible. ’ Beasts, they’re beasts too and I’m a beast tamer.’

The sound of her flute travelled through space reaching the ears of the void beasts around them.

The sound waves pierced into their brains, when Siri entered their mental spaces to tame them.

She realised why in all of history, it had always been considered impossible to tame void beasts.

Their minds were fragments of nothing but chaos, their mental space was like a sea of destruction.

Storms of mental waves ravaged the entire space, ’ No wonder, they wonder they have even less intelligence than demonic beasts.’

Demonic beasts are like common animals like a dog, they might not have the intelligence of a humans.

But they weren’t entirely lacking it either, they can understand some things and can even be taught.

Some are even smarter, reaching the intelligence of a 10 year old but the void beasts.

There was nothing, they couldn’t understand their surroundings, their entire existence is driven by instinct.

The instinct to destroy and devour, they were a scourge. However to her that didn’t matter.

She would try to tame them regardless but just as she did, she was hit by a tremendous headache that brought her back to reality.

’ Damnit, I used that ability.’ she just remembered she had used that sacrifice ability and can’t tame anything anytime soon.

She sighed, " I’m sorry Naledi, it seems I can’t accompany you on your journey anymore, I’ll be joining Ndu now."

She closed her eyes and waited for death but none came, when she opened them she saw the herald’s fist a few centimetres from her face.

She swallowed nervously but the fist was struggling, no matter how hard it tried it couldn’t get any closer.

She looked back and saw Alya standing behind her, her vessel spinning above her head.

Space was bent around them preventing the herald from getting close but it was obvious Alya was under tremendous pressure.

Alya’s vessel was not suitable for battle, it was a support type, her being able to stop the herald was all she could manage.

Fortunately she was not an idiot nor overconfident, she understood her own ability better than anybody.

So she brought somebody else with her, woman with pitch black hair appeared behind them.

Each step she took sent waves through space, she was carrying a harp and walked with graceful steps.

Her plumb body shook with every step as if she was walking on solid ground. " You made it." Alya sighed with relief.

" I did, but it seems it was unnecessary, that brat has outdone himself once again." The two women were surprised by Pulse’s words.

Suddenly roars of beasts came from the distance, they all turned and saw a wave of demonic beasts rushing towards them.

The herald saw this and frowned, ignoring the rushing beasts he lunged at them like a grey streak.

Pulse’s fingers moved, ding, she strung the strings of her harp. Wave after wave spread out colliding with the herald like tsunamis.

The cracks on his armour grew wider with each wave. The herald roared with rage but he couldn’t advance a single step.

Pulse paid him no mind and the beasts arrived, they drowned the herald like an all consuming flood.
