Beast Taming: My System is Bugged
Chapter 507 - 489: The Way of EnlightenmentThe rustle of wind through the treetops, the patter of raindrops on leaves.
The Spiritual Fluctuations emanating from the Ancient Divine Deer gently pushed these concepts to the young beasts, like ripples spreading across water.
On one side was the legend of the Natural Divine Tree, told in human language. On the other was a story told by the Ancient Divine Deer using the voice of nature.
Compared to the human’s story, the Ancient Divine Deer’s storytelling method was even more surprising to Gu Ming.
’This no longer contains any Pet Beast language. It’s the sound of nature itself, without a single impurity.’
’To be fair, the songs sung by the human Prayer Master were still within my realm of understanding. But this Enlightenment method from the Ancient Divine Deer completely lacked any animal language. If there was any language at all, it was only that of plants.’
’This... can this actually work?’
’After all, not all of the Grass Element Pet Beasts here are plant-based.’
’A Snake Pet like Cyan Treasure, for instance, is a Grass Element animal. It wouldn’t know how to listen to the language of plants without being taught.’
’During the Enlightenment stage, one should try to use the racial languages that all the present Pet Beasts can understand.’
However, Gu Ming remained silent. He didn’t interrupt the ongoing ritual, instead committing it to memory while observing the young pets.
Unexpectedly, the effect was remarkable.
The confusion in the young beasts’ eyes gradually gave way to a look of yearning, as if they were listening to an irrefutable law of nature.
A sound of order came from their mouths as they began to sing along with the human Prayer Master.
And the voice of nature transmitted by the Ancient Divine Deer also seemed to faintly emerge from them.
But that sound wasn’t produced by an animal’s throat. Instead, it was a small ripple stirring within their nascent Seas of Consciousness.
The Spiritual Ripples from each young pet were tiny, but when hundreds of them produced the same sound in unison, this combined ripple was keenly detected by Gu Ming’s Ah Kun.
Not only was the humans’ Enlightenment a success, but the Ancient Divine Deer’s Enlightenment via the voice of nature had also succeeded.
’This was truly the pure voice of nature, with no animal languages mixed in.’
Gu Ming took all of this in. He didn’t see anything particularly dangerous, but a strong sense of vigilance remained in his heart.
After watching for a while, he turned to Ruan Taibai and gave him a nod.
"God Gu, you pick a batch. I’ll take the rest."
"I’ll be telling a Water Element Enlightenment story today." As Gu Ming spoke, he walked over to his designated area.
Gathered there were mainly young Water Element beasts, all soaking in the courtyard’s reservoir.
He didn’t create any kind of special field, simply sitting down calmly and placing the ancient manuscript of *Voice of the Ocean* on his lap.
"Ah Kun," he called out in his mind.
Ah Kun, who was beside him, floated over gently, hovering above the pool.
It didn’t let out any sharp cries, but the blue radiance flowing over its body suddenly deepened.
Immediately after, a low, vast sound vibrated from within its body.
That was Ah Kun’s voice. It was the call of a Grouper Fish, yet with slight variations, incorporating the journey of its growth.
The sound contained its Spiritual Power. At the same time, Gu Ming read from the storybook, his voice and the fish’s call creating a beautiful rhythm, like real ocean waves crashing in the courtyard.
This "Sound of the Sea Waves" was at times like a gentle wave caressing the shore, soft and full of patience, guiding the young beasts of the Aquatic Race to begin thinking and undergo their Initial Awakening of Spiritual Wisdom.
In the next courtyard, Mr. Tree looked over toward Gu Ming, cocking his ear to listen to the ethereal and distant Voice of the Ocean. The sound seemed to stir within him a desire to explore the seas.
Gu Ming could be heard reciting Chapters from *Voice of the Ocean* in human language:
"In the beginning of life, all originated from a warm undercurrent.
"Every drop of seawater remembers the dreams of stardust...
"Behold the tiny plankton dancing in a column of light. It has never seen the sea’s edge, yet it possesses the joy of the entire ocean..."
The logic, philosophy, and poetry of human language.
Ah Kun’s Sound of the Sea Waves contained emotions like vastness, the unknown, and the desire for Evolution.
All of these elements intertwined, forming an incredibly rich spiritual experience.
Within it, there were both positive aspects and the experience of negative emotions.
The young Water Element beasts listened, utterly captivated.
Some gently swayed their bodies to the rhythm of the waves.
Others gazed at the sparkling water’s surface, their dopy, cute eyes growing sharp, as if lit with curiosity about life and the world. They became aware of their own existence and awakened the desire to pursue a purpose in their fishy lives.
Even some of the amphibious young beasts on land, which Ruan Taibai was responsible for, were drawn in by the Voice of the Ocean and cocked their ears to listen.
The storytelling session lasted for nearly half an hour.
When Gu Ming uttered the last syllable and Ah Kun’s Sound of the Sea Waves also faded away, dissolving into a delicate after-ring like a receding tide...
The young beasts remained immersed in that wondrous atmosphere, not stirring for a long time.
At some point, Mr. Tree had stood up and was looking at Gu Ming and Ah Kun with a profound gaze.
He was especially and undisguisedly curious about how a Four-star Ah Kun could emit such a Spiritual "Dao Sound."
Still wearing that socially expected smile, he walked over and praised,
"Teacher Gu Ming’s Voice of the Ocean is truly like listening to celestial music, so full of wisdom."
Gu Ming put the book away into his Beast Taming Space and chuckled.
"Mr. Tree, you flatter me. Speaking of which, I’d like to ask how the Ancient Divine Deer’s language of nature allows animals to understand it and have their spiritual wisdom awakened."
Ruan Taibai didn’t come over to join the discussion. He was busy arranging for the newly enlightened young beasts to return to the shop to sleep. These new lives couldn’t be exposed outside for too long; they needed sleep to grow.
Mr. Tree pondered for a moment.
He had come over to praise Gu Ming with the clear intention of using this opportunity to investigate the rumored Grouper Fish that had undergone the Fish Leaping the Dragon Gate and evolved into a Four-star pureblood.
Seeing that Gu Ming had taken the initiative to ask, and since the matter wasn’t some confidential secret,
He spent the next few minutes eloquently explaining the mysteries within.
The core principle could be summarized in one point:
All things in heaven and earth originate from nature.
Therefore, in theory, there is no "voice of nature" that a newly awakened spirit cannot understand.
If a communication barrier arises, the problem never lies with the listener, but with the speaker.
For example, is the speaker pure enough? Are they close enough to the origin? Are they primitive and natural enough?
"To put it plainly, there’s no clever Technique involved."
Mr. Tree’s tone was calm, yet it carried an unquestionable certainty.
"The key lies in a crystal-clear and flawless ’Heart of Nature.’
"When the heart is pure, the intent can be conveyed. Then, one can be like the Ancient Divine Deer, bringing Enlightenment to all the world’s races."
Gu Ming’s gaze flickered. He had caught onto a logical extreme that could be deduced from the other’s theory.
He took the opportunity to ask a counter-question. His tone was humble, like one in an academic discussion, but the question itself was extremely tricky.
"What about a purely Mechanical Element Pet Beast, whose Energy Core is an artificial creation? Can... can they also listen to this voice of nature and receive Enlightenment?"
These words were like a stone tossed into a calm lake.
The gulf between mechanical life and flesh-and-blood life was common knowledge in the Beast Taming Realm.
’Their methods of Enlightenment are different. At least, that’s what I’ve always believed.’
Gu Ming’s question wasn’t entirely to antagonize him; he was deliberately looking for a flaw in the other’s argument.
However, upon hearing this question, Mr. Tree showed no sign of awkwardness. Instead, a deeper smile appeared on his face, as if he had expected it all along.
"Even for a purely mechanical creation, the metals, Crystal Stones, and even the energy that drives it are all born from nature, extracted from the heavens and the earth."
"Since the origin is the same, the Ancient Divine Deer’s path of inspiration still applies. It’s just that..."
He paused, a hint of profound meaning in his eyes.
"It places higher demands on the speaker’s ’Dao Practice.’ It requires their comprehension to penetrate the surface and directly reach the most primitive ’Natural Principle’ that constitutes all things."
Gu Ming saw that this explanation, which was akin to the idea that "all techniques return to a single origin," had not only failed to stump his opponent but had actually made his theory seem even more complete and self-consistent.
’I knew it would be difficult to gain the upper hand in a verbal debate.’
He didn’t press the matter further, instead showing a timely expression of having been taught a lesson and nodding slightly.
"I see. I’ve learned something today."
「You participated in the Enlightenment of young Water Element pets for the first time. Ah Kun’s Water Element comprehension +1.」
「You have incidentally met a Slicer from the "Friends of Nature" environmental organization. In a half-day-long discussion on Enlightenment, you were at a disadvantage.」
