Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis
Chapter 104 - 91: Lighthouse Keeper 2BANG!
The Lighthouse Keeper raised its hands, and with a tearing motion, its blood-wreathed palms swatted the Crescent Moon Sword Qi apart.
However, the remnants of the Crescent Moon Sword Qi still struck its body, dealing a small amount of damage, yet it showed no sign of pain.
Then, it stopped roaring, reached a hand into its throat, grabbed its own tongue, and gave it a vicious yank.
SPLATTER!
Blood sprayed everywhere as it pulled out a writhing, living Blood Tongue. The viscous blood coating it was imbued with the power of Madness.
"This is so fucking sanity-draining..."
Shore grimaced at the sight, but seized the opportunity to raise his Devil Fish Staff and fire a Blood Stone Burst that struck the Lighthouse Keeper.
But the Lighthouse Keeper swung its Blood Tongue like a whip, swatting the incoming Blood Stone Burst and blowing it apart.
Then, with a powerful stomp, the floor of the sixth level instantly collapsed, and the creature dropped down to land right in front of the two players.
A faint red light cascaded down from above, falling upon them both.
[You have been tainted by "Madness." Abnormality progress is accumulating...]
The abnormal status effect continued to build.
What was even more shocking was that the two of them now suddenly noticed a gaping hole in the top of the Lighthouse Keeper’s head. It was completely empty inside.
The source of both the encroaching Madness and the lighthouse’s glow was the blood-wreathed, dripping brain floating above them, along with the two eyes connected to it.
"AHHH!!!"
SQUELCH!
Li Miao had already unleashed a Gulard Heavy Strike, viciously cleaving the Lighthouse Keeper’s head and shattering it to pieces.
But it seemed to have no effect. The Lighthouse Keeper continued to roar as it whipped the Blood Tongue in its hand, which extended and coiled around Li Miao’s waist.
The Madness progress bar leaped up.
Li Miao’s eye twitched in alarm. He quickly raised his Large Shield and slammed the creature against the wall, ripping the Blood Tongue from his waist.
Shore wasn’t idle either, summoning a Ghost Claw to attack from the side.
Strangely, although the Lighthouse Keeper’s Blood Volume was dropping, the rate was very slow, and it was regenerating quickly.
This made them realize instantly that they couldn’t kill it like this.
"Hit the brain!"
Shore snapped back to his senses, hastily raising his Devil Fish Tail Staff to conjure a Blood-colored Magic Ball.
Li Miao reacted as well, pinning down the Lighthouse Keeper to create an opening for Shore.
The Blood Stone Burst hit the brain, but the brain conjured a blood-colored barrier to block the attack.
The Lighthouse Keeper became extremely violent, unleashing a tremendous burst of strength that shoved even Li Miao aside.
Li Miao slammed into the lighthouse wall with a THUD. Luckily, the wall was incredibly sturdy. He quickly got to his feet and roared, "Keep going, don’t stop!"
As he spoke, he raised his Large Shield and used Knight Charge, barreling toward the Lighthouse Keeper as it tried to attack Shore, pinning it down completely.
Shore’s assault was relentless.
The bloody brain’s Shield began to show signs of weakening.
The Lighthouse Keeper grew even more frantic in its attempts to attack Shore.
But Li Miao gave it no such chance. With Warfire blazing around him, he suppressed it at all costs.
Finally, the bloody brain could no longer hold out. Under Shore’s continuous attacks, it exploded, splattering both of them with a sticky mixture of red and white fluids.
Without the brain’s support, the Lighthouse Keeper’s body suddenly shuddered violently before exploding into a cloud of bloody mist.
[You have killed the Lighthouse Keeper]
Standing in the blood mist, Li Miao felt his Madness progress bar leap up again and quickly retreated to a safe distance.
Once everything had calmed down, the two of them let out a long sigh of relief.
The destroyed floor began to slowly repair itself.
"When I first started this game, I thought the Fish People were disgusting enough..."
"I didn’t expect the monsters to get more and more ridiculous. This game is just getting creepier and creepier..."
Shore couldn’t help but comment.
But then he laughed. "I have to admit, though, that was pretty thrilling!"
"You’re definitely a bit of a pervert," Li Miao said, giving him a disdainful look before walking over to pick up the loot.
[Acquired: Wax Oil ×26]
[Acquired: Strange Handwriting]
[Acquired: Blood Tongue (Excellent)]
[Blood Tongue (Excellent)]
[Type: Weapon]
[Effect: Provides a moderate boost to health regeneration when equipped. Spirit -5, Faith -5.]
[Explanation: The tongue of a Lighthouse Keeper, tainted by an anomalous power. It represents an extreme form of power and can be seen as an ominous sign.]
"What the hell is this thing..."
"With a stat penalty that big, who would ever use it?"
Li Miao flicked the sticky, slick Blood Tongue Whip in his hand. He almost lost his composure, the corner of his mouth twitching.
"Let me see." Shore’s eyes lit up. He took the Blood Tongue and said, "Who cares what it is? If it works, it works, right?"
With that, he gave the Blood Tongue a few test swings.
And what do you know, the thing automatically extended, so it could be used as a whip. It even left crimson trails when swung—the visual effects were pretty cool.
But he soon shook his head in regret. "...Too bad. You can have it. I can’t use this thing. I feel like my head gets foggy just holding it."
The penalty to Spirit and Faith was simply too deadly for a Mage like him.
"As if your head was ever that sharp to begin with," Li Miao rolled his eyes, then added thoughtfully, ’I bet this thing would be perfect for Brother Mangzi...’
Shore couldn’t help but laugh. "What are you trying to imply?"
"Nothing."
Li Miao coughed, put the tongue away, and took out the other item.
[Strange Handwriting]
[Type: Letter]
[Content: ...gobbledygook...mumbo jumbo... (Bloody Handprint)]
[Explanation: The handwriting of a madman, which only a madman can understand.]
Other than the bloody handprint, there seemed to be no useful information. The text was so crazed that not even the Spirit Candle’s translation function worked on it.
"What’s written on it?"
Shore leaned in for a closer look.
Li Miao handed it to him with a serious expression. "Here, you take a look. You should be able to understand it. Translate it for me when you’re done."
Shore took it, a bit puzzled, but his expression darkened as he read. He raised his Devil Fish Tail Staff as if he wanted to blast Li Miao with a Blood Stone Burst.
"Just put it away. It might be useful later."
Li Miao chuckled.
Annoyed, Shore put the strange letter away.
Instead of leaving immediately, the two waited for the floor on the sixth level to repair itself before heading up to the top floor.
After a thorough search, they came up empty-handed.
However, from the top of the lighthouse, they could see the entirety of the Coastal Town Regga and its surrounding waters.
In the direction they had come from, the sea raged under a torrential downpour, lit by flashes of lightning. They could see several Mad Fishermen roaming about in the Ocean.
To the left of the shore where they had landed was a large port. Several large sailing ships bobbed on the waves, but there wasn’t a single soul in sight.
To the right, the most prominent structure was a multi-story building, though its purpose was unclear.
Furthermore, there was a faintly visible plaza in the center of the town.
But the most conspicuous landmark in the entire coastal town was, without a doubt, the castle looming in the distance.
The port, the building, the plaza, the castle.
Li Miao silently committed these conspicuous landmarks to memory.
Then, he and Shore left the top of the lighthouse together.
...
On Candle Island, Luo Ge found Noxia at the entrance to a cave and brought her to the deserted Qi Xin Chapel.
After telling her about the situation on Exile Island and in the Coastal Town Regga, Luo Ge asked,
"...Do you know anything about these two anomalous powers?"
Although Noxia’s memory had not returned, it was clear that she had once been a member of one of this world’s benevolent factions.
"Rotten... Madness..."
Noxia muttered to herself, trying her best to recall something.
After a moment, she seemed to recall a few fragments of memory. Her brow furrowed as she said, "It seems to be a power even more ominous and foul than that of the Demon Summoners..."
But in the end, she could only shake her head apologetically. "I’m sorry, Mr. Luo Ge, I haven’t recalled any useful memories."
"It’s alright."
Luo Ge shook his head slightly. His thoughts turned to the "Blood Tongue" Li Miao had obtained, and he fell into a contemplative silence.
