Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis
Chapter 75: Next Time for SureAs time went on, new players started to graduate from the novice phase and set out for Exile Island.
After reading the guides, their objective was crystal clear. Upon entering Exile Island, they made a beeline for the Exiled Prisoners in the prison and began relentlessly farming them for the Wax Oil needed to level up.
To that end, Storyteller even put out a more detailed guide teaching new players how to parkour all the way there, reach the front of the prison as quickly as possible, and then use the simplest method to swoop in and light the Spirit Candle. It was practically a tutorial for dummies.
After reaching a certain Level, players started grinding Defender Captains and Gulard Soldiers.
Thanks to the players’ exhaustive explorations, the monster distributions and drop tables for the entire Exile Island were meticulously recorded in the guides.
The four Defender Captains on Exile Island each had different drops.
The Defender Captain at the coastal war camp, the one in front of the Open-pit Mine, would drop the Defense Greatsword and Crescent Moon Sword Qi. The other three Defender Captains would drop Crescent Moon Sword Qi and their own equipment.
Although the Defender Captains’ equipment was medium armor, its Defense Power was higher than Light Armor and its weight was moderate, making it the first choice for many players.
For Warrior players like Brother Mangzi, medium armor was the most suitable. Even some Mage players, while complaining about "Low IQ Knights," would honestly and secretly slip on the Defensive Medium Armor...
The players entered a phase of rapid progression, and the Wax Oil Luo Ge had accumulated naturally began to increase quickly...
It was worth noting that Storyteller, who had joined not long ago, published a lore analysis of Exile Island after collecting and summarizing a great deal of information.
Storyteller: [Why Does Exile Island’s Law Knight Have a Second Phase? And What Secrets Is the Island Hiding? (Posted on both the game forums and a popular video site)]
[Hello, all you Small Candles! It’s me, Storyteller. I’m sure many of you have had the same questions as the title during your playthroughs. So, without further ado, let’s jump right in. But I have to make a disclaimer first: this analysis contains a lot of speculation and isn’t completely reliable...]
’As expected of a content creator, this Storyteller guy... He’s certainly got a knack for filler and building suspense. He even remembered to cover his bases with a disclaimer before slowly getting to the main topic.’
[...From the overall game lore, the opening of Exile Island comes from the game’s most important NPC, the Candlekeeper, who opened this map for us under the guidance of the Spirit Candle.]
[Many Small Candles witnessed this scene firsthand. An illusory giant anchor, which in my opinion signifies "anchoring," pulled Exile Island back from the Dark Boundary, allowing us to enter and explore it.]
[And after we enter the Gray Mist, there’s only one path to take: toward Exile Island. Along the way, we encounter a dilapidated great galleon called the "Pillaging Ship." Everyone knows about the boss on board, but the real point of interest is its Explanation and the prayer scroll it drops.]
[This leads to a hidden plotline we can’t fully investigate yet—the Master of Storms. This is clearly a different faction from Gulard on Exile Island, which is obvious from their monsters’ completely different weapons and attack styles.]
[And! Here’s the key point. I wonder if any of you have noticed that when you pass through the Patrol Corridor and enter the main gate of the coastal camp, there’s a distinct sound of a horn from the Dark Boundary outside?]
[After waiting there for a long time, I made a major discovery.]
[At the exact moment the Gulard Soldiers finish wiping out the rioting prisoners, the bow of a great galleon, different from the "Pillaging Ship," appears in the dark mist.]
[Upon observation, it’s not hard to see that it’s carrying... Gulard Soldiers. And they are fully equipped, with cannons on board.]
[Connecting that to the obvious breach on the dilapidated galleon from before, and the fact that the Riot Leader also uses Faith-based attacks... I speculate that the Gulard and Master of Storms factions are, in all likelihood, enemies...]
Storyteller then provided a good deal of evidence to support his claims.
He even painstakingly edited a montage of the only video from the official Spirit Candle website with other exciting clips, and it looked pretty slick.
’The analysis isn’t bad,’ Luo Ge thought, ’but from my perspective, I still can’t be certain that these two factions are completely hostile toward each other.’
Luo Ge then began to fast-forward, skipping to the parts that interested him.
[...The Rotting Prisoners, which everyone calls the "White-gifted Prisoners," are exploding monsters. Though they’re disgusting, they are "dearly loved" by all the Small Candles.]
[Before they die, they constantly mutter something about "offering," but they don’t drop a single thing upon death. Otherwise, even with a 0.01% drop rate, we would have farmed something out of them by now.]
[This is clearly another hidden plotline planted by Spirit Candle, so we won’t discuss it too much for now.]
[Next up is the most important part of Exile Island, the pinnacle of combat power on Exile Peak, and currently the most popular boss—the Law Knight.]
[This is a special boss that each player can only kill once. Its drops are extremely generous. Most importantly, the Fire Seed provides a huge amount of Attributes and buffs, and it even grants a Talent and a Skill. It’s truly a coveted prize.]
[But as everyone knows, when the Law Knight is down to one-third of its health, it enters a second phase.]
[The reason on the surface is obvious, and it comes from the Law Knight’s rotten left arm.]
[But what is the deeper reason?]
[I’m sure you’ve all guessed by now. It should be related to the Rotting Prisoners. After all, they’re the only two types of monsters on Exile Island with this characteristic.]
[This point can also be seen from the content of the Special Item, the ’Gulard Decree.’ Friends who are interested can check out my previous videos on item lore.]
[A decree, naturally, is an order passed down from a superior to a subordinate. So who could be the Defender Captains’ superior? Without a doubt, it’s the Law Knight. After all, the guy not only has a private villa but also a watchdog...]
[Combining the information above, we can make a simple deduction.]
[As the master of the entire Exile Island, the Law Knight was tainted by the "Rotten" while on a mission to capture the Rotting Prisoners.]
[Therefore, after escorting them back to Exile Island, he issued a decree to have them placed under strict guard.]
[But after some time, the Rotting Prisoners indiscriminately killed off the other prisoners and soldiers in the jail.]
[Even the Law Knight himself must expend his Physical Strength to suppress it. Once his health gets too low and his Physical Strength is insufficient, the Rotten will spread...]
[Of course, this is all just my speculation, so just take it as a bit of fun. Who knows, I might be proven completely wrong one day...]
’The Law Knight’s transformation is indeed related to his Physical Strength...’
Luo Ge mused.
When the Law Knight’s Physical Strength and Blood Volume were full, he could clearly use his special Warfire to suppress the Rotten.
But if his Blood Volume was insufficient, the Rotten would become uncontrollable...
[Next is the design of this second phase, which is very intriguing.]
[When the Law Knight clutches his arm, players have roughly three choices, which I’ll call: Do Nothing, Take Advantage, and Offer Help.]
[These three choices don’t affect the Law Knight’s drops, but they do affect his state in the second phase.]
[First is "Do Nothing." After a period of agony, the Law Knight’s left hand will sprout a mass of rotten flesh. He will abandon his defensive Large Shield and launch a fierce assault on the player with his remaining strength. His aggression is extremely high, making him very difficult to deal with.]
[Second is "Take Advantage." As the saying goes, kick him while he’s down. This option is effective and will make the Law Knight lose health, causing him to reappear in a low-health state.]
[I estimate that it should be possible to kill him directly during this window. After all, Spirit Candle’s high degree of freedom is plain for all to see. The reason no one has managed to kill him is that we currently don’t have an effective way to burn through that much health instantly.]
[Finally, there’s "Offer Help."]
[If you use a Weapon to attack the Law Knight’s left arm at this time, he won’t resist at all, and you can destroy it quickly.]
[After destroying it, although you still have to face the Law Knight, his strength will be greatly reduced. The troublesome Shield and the annoying rotten arm are both gone, making the fight much less difficult than the other two options.]
[Perhaps this is Spirit Candle’s gift to a true warrior!]
’An excellent design...’
Luo Ge couldn’t help but smile.
’This map was generated naturally; it has nothing to do with me. At most, I’m just the game designer.’
[Alright, that’s all for this installment of our Spirit Candle lore analysis. Thanks for watching! I hope all you wonderful viewers won’t hesitate to like, share, and subscribe...]
’Maybe next time.’
After finishing the video, Luo Ge withdrew his attention.
