Chapter 320: Frustration Of The Devil

For the following weeks ahead, the two worked together to guide souls and defeat monsters. On the other hand, their relationship grew more harmonious, especially that Si’s attitude underwent changes after he gained a heart. He seems to completely change his method and approach to the people around him.

It was almost in disbelief but No. 444 truly changed as a grim reaper.

However the only one that felt very complicated with these changes was probably Yin himself. It’s not that he doesn’t want this change, in fact he thinks that it’s a good change because the grim reaper finally learned emotions.

One day after Si successfully sent another soul again after fulfilling a wish and even gave a small merit for a blessing, they were supposed to have a rest and plan to roam around the city for sightseeing but just as they were about to teleport and leave the place, Si suddenly staggered.

It happened without a warning and because it hasn’t ever happened both of them didn’t expect when Si failed to teleport and his body became unsteady.

Fortunately his reflexes were fast and he quickly held his arm. He frowned.

"What happened to you?" The man didn’t answer him but his face also shows how he was very surprised.

"How are you feeling?" he asked again.

"It’s nothing." No. 444 regained his stand and calmed himself. "I feel nothing. Maybe it was just a small mistake from me."

Ridiculous. How could someone like No. 444 make a mistake? It was very impossible but seeing that the man looks normal, he could only shut his mouth.

After that they continued their plan and nothing happened anymore so he was able to sigh in relief and throw that scene at the back of his mind. He eventually thought that maybe that was just really a small mistake yet for the following days, small ’mistakes’ actually happen again and again.

He would see his hand tremble, his face turning a bit pale, he would sometimes stumble even if there was nothing on his way or he would sometimes rub his temples. It was small changes but for someone like No. 444 who was always known for his strength and confidence, how could this be considered as nothing?

When Yin caught the sight of his face turning pale again, he finally couldn’t help it and asked, "Do you know what’s happening to you?"

Si stopped massaging his temple and straightened his back, no longer leaning on the headboard. "It’s just nothing."

He frowned. "What do you mean by nothing? Do I look stupid to you?" He was very direct on piercing any possible turn that he will deny. "Is that because of merit?"

"No." The latter denied. "It’s maybe because the schedules are too tight and—"

He scoffed and sarcastically said. "Oh, so grim reapers can be tired now?" Of course they can but he was referring to someone who never felt ’tired’ with his record of being the restless grim reaper. He could still remember those times when he followed him everywhere and there’s no rest in his vocabulary, so how could he admit and say that his schedule is too tight when he didn’t care about it?

Si noticed his sarcastic remarks but his face remained calm. "Just because I didn’t care in the past doesn’t mean I don’t feel it."

His lips twitch at that ’reasonable’ excuse.

"What happened to you?" His face turned serious. "I told you not to trust those souls. Just because they promise doesn’t mean they will keep it. Haven’t you forgotten that they have to drink mengpo soup before reincarnating? What they said will just be forgotten and who knows what kind of life they will be after that?" he paused. "Judging from you, it can be seen that I’m correct."

No. 444 was silent for a while. "It’s fine. These are just minor changes to me."

Now he finally admits that it’s really a small backlash but he chose to dismiss it anyway. Yin found it unbelievable. He knew that he really changed after having a heart but he just never expected it to be this drastic.

In the past, he would always ensure to think about himself and never others.

"Is it really that easy for you to set aside yourself?" Yin didn’t want to hide his thoughts and asked that question directly.

All the years that he always chose himself, is it easy for him to discard himself for others? Just how much he doesn’t care about himself to sacrifice something like this for others?

Just because of a small warmth? Is that even something worthy?
