Chapter 321: The Bus Incident

"Don’t give your merit anymore."

Those words begin a sparkle of fire between them inside that room. Si was surprised at his words and he was confused by his sudden outburst. He couldn’t understand the reason why he just said those words to him.

Not giving his merit? Why not?

"It’s harmful for your body." The latter reasoned out. Si breathed a sigh of relief.

"It’s fine," he assured Yin. "These are just minor changes. It’s nothing to me."

It’s true. For him, these small ’illnesses’ are just something that he can just brush off. In the beginning, the feeling of dizziness or nausea surprises him a bit but after a few weeks, he thinks that it’s already normal. Aside from small changes on his body, there’s no other problems so he thinks that it’s fine.

Thus he could not understand why Yin suddenly told him to stop this.

"What do you mean by it’s fine? Just because your body is a grim reaper, you can just brush those changes off? Is your body not important to you?" The man’s face was frowning and he looked angry so he was somewhat bewildered.

Why does he act like this when he himself doesn’t care?

"What’s up with you?" He couldn’t help but ask what’s wrong. He couldn’t understand this devil’s attitude all of the sudden. "I told you that it’s nothing. These are just minor changes and it cannot harm me—"

"So your body is not important? You care about those souls more than yourself?" The devil looks cold as he argues. Even the tone of his voice sounds like he was getting angrier. "Aren’t you always working hard for yourself? Don’t you want more weapons and powers for yourself? Why are you just casually throwing your efforts out?"

He sighed. "It’s not casually throwing out. I was giving merit because they need it. I can earn it back anyway so it’s not a problem."

"Do they deserve it?"

No. 444 was stunned. Do they deserve it?

"Those are because of the backlash made by the souls you trusted for merits. Just because they said they will be a good person doesn’t mean that they will do it. Humans are hypocrites who cannot keep their promises." Yin was very brutal in pointing out a fact that he was just ignoring blatantly.

"The evil deeds that they do when alive is not something that you can just ignore. Isn’t that what a grim reaper should do? Isn’t that what you always said?"

Si sighed again. "Are you worried about me?"

"!!!" The devil froze.

"What?"

Si raises his head and looks at him with his lips curled a little. "Don’t worry about me."

"...." He was suddenly rendered speechless. He subconsciously looks away from the grim reaper. "I’m not worried about you!"

But this grim reaper didn’t speak anymore, making him feel an unfamiliar warmth on his face. He suddenly couldn’t stand still so he snorted and flicked his sleeves angrily before disappearing on the spot.

He thought that at least No. 444 would think about his words and won’t carelessly use himself anymore but just after a few hours that he went away, he heard an incident that finally snapped something inside him.

On the other hand, Si only felt a little warm about the devil’s words but didn’t plan to change himself. He knew his body. These changes are really nothing to him. What’s more, what concerns him the most is the foundation that he has to build to fulfill the man’s wish.

After opening himself, he understood something about friendship. It’s not just about accompanying each other but also to give something because you want your friend to be happy. He encountered souls who bid farewell to their friends looking more heartbroken than facing their family. At first he couldn’t understand. He just thought that why would they care about other people more than someone you shared blood with?

He saw the old woman loved and chose to forgive partly because that was her own son, so he was quite surprised about the relationship between unrelated people. It turns out that there are many relationships in this world. Whether it is between family, friends, animals or even a relationship with close intimacy.

Hence he thought that Yin’s words earlier were because he’s worried as a friend. He understands after listening to him. However he also knew his body the best. He can do it. He can endure because it cannot harm his body, at most it can just cause small illnesses, not something to be worried about.

After Yin disappeared, coincidentally he also received new information about the next he’ll guide. Not wanting to disturb the devil’s mood, he decided to go by himself.

But what he didn’t expect was the incident that welcomed him after he teleported to the location.

It’s a bus incident where a group of students died after their transportation fell on a high cliff. No one survived and when he arrived, there were many people there.

He saw many people crying on the side while they’re trying to retrieve the bodies below. He could only sighed at that sight but now focused on the souls.

He walked towards the group of students who were just frozen on the side, their faces full of disbelief from the sudden death that cut off their future.

Si called out their names one by one and it made the students come to their senses. They turned towards him and he saw the surprises on their faces when they saw him.

"Hello," he greeted them politely. "I am your grim reaper. Please come with me."

Hearing his identity made them finally snap and they started to howl and fell into chaos.

"No! No! This is not true!"

"I’m not dead! I was just sitting on the bus! I didn’t do anything!"

"I’m not dead either! This is probably just a nightmare! Come on! Wake up! Wake me up, guys!"

The students grew more chaotic after noticing the blood stains on their body and even how it looked very different to how it was. Their body was no longer like a human but something that looked very eerie and cold, a ghost.

What sent them to craziness was when a student spotted someone familiar on the other side of the road and pointed at it frantically.

"T-That’s me! W-Why am I there?!"

"That’s me too! Why am I laying there?! I’m here! I’m here so who is that?!"

"N-No! Why are they covering me with a white blanket?! Where are they going?! Hey, stop! Stop!" The students frantically ran towards their bodies but the moment they tried and found that not only that one one can see them but they could not even touch anybody, all fell into deeper despair.

"T-This is not true! This is not true! Mom! Where’s my Mom?! Mom, I’m scared!"

"P-Please wake me up! This is a nightmare! Dad! Mom! Where are you?! Please wake me up!"

Si watched the commotion and felt a faint pain in his heart.

These youths, why did their fate end like this?
