Chapter 326: Confrontation Of Thoughts

"You’re bleeding."

This is what the devil said after he appeared in Si’s room. He just went out for a while and when he came back to this room, he smelled the familiar rustic scent of blood. And who else could bleed aside from him?

He quickly strode towards the man and grabbed his wrist and there, he saw that in that slender hand, a small amount of blood stained his palm. He could also smell the scent that came from the man’s mouth. It’s clear that he coughed blood and was even trying to hide it from him.

"...." He stilled and subconsciously tightened his grip on the man’s wrist. His eyes narrowed in danger. "It’s because of them again, right?"

No. 444’s face remains composed and steady even though he looks a bit paler. He also wanted to grab his wrist back but he didn’t let it. He leaned down a bit and looked at the grim reaper in front of him.

"Stop this." He finally confesses his thoughts.

"What?" The latter was stunned.

"This is just hurting you. You need to stop giving your merits."

Si sighed. "I’m fine—"

"You’re bleeding!" He interrupted his words. "You’re already bleeding at this point, why say you’re fine?"

"Because I really am." No. 444 tried to wriggle his wrist but he still didn’t let go. This finally made the latter notice his strange reaction and frown in confusion. "What are you doing? Let me go."

"Stop this before it’s too late." He expressed his opinion again.

The latter tries to smile. "It will never be too late for me. I told you I’m fine. These symptoms are not serious. You don’t have to think about it too much."

He exhaled a breath in frustration. His voice grew cold. "Why are you still trusting those humans? They always betray you."

Si disapproves of his words. "Not all of them—"

"Who knows? From the moment they went to another life, they already forgot everything they promised to you! Your trust didn’t matter to them! They just promised to you because they are selfish and want to take advantage of you!"

The grim reaper finally took back his wrist and stepped backwards from him. "You don’t know them—"

"And so are you!" The atmosphere inside the room heated as Yin didn’t hold back his thoughts anymore. "You didn’t know them too but you’re letting yourself get fooled! There’s already too many of them who betrayed you, why can’t you see that everyone is just the same?!"

As Yin spoke his thoughts, the hatred inside him just grew even more. He hated humans.

He hates them for taking advantage of Si. He hates them for betraying every trust that the man gave without hesitation. Why does the latter have to suffer for them?

"Haven’t you thought about those students? They didn’t hesitate to take advantage of you even if you took care of them. Then what happened? You were the one who was left hurt." He pointed to the blood on his palm. "Besides, who knows who made that to you? Maybe it came from the souls who promised you to be better!"

No. 444’s face turned cold at his words. "You don’t have to say those words."

"Why?!" The tone of his voice raises a bit for this frustration. "Why are you blindfolding yourself from this truth? Humans are nothing but full of hypocrites and selfishness. You don’t need to save any of them!"

"Enough!" This time, the grim reaper’s voice shows anger. "I know what I’m doing. You don’t have to take care of it."

He paused for a moment. "... Why can’t I take care of it? It has something to do with you."

No. 444 was stunned a bit. "What?"

He only pursed his lips and didn’t explain further. "Just listen to me. Don’t help them anymore. Their deaths and what life they’ll have next is their fate. That’s not something that you have to do."

The man didn’t answer him and he knew that this silence meant he didn’t want to listen to him.

"...." For a moment, the silence inside this room didn’t decrease the tense atmosphere but only made the underneath freeze even more.

Yin also didn’t say anything anymore and just took a step forward. He grabs Si’s wrist again and using the wide sleeve of his dark robe, he uses the edge to slowly wipe the blood on the man’s palm.

He felt the latter flinch at his action but he didn’t let go and continued his action. His face remained calm yet only knew that the frustration and anger inside him didn’t disappear with this conversation.

Si keep on protecting them again. He wasn’t even willing to listen to the words of concern and truth that he said because he wants to choose them.

His eyes lowered to hide the coldness in it.

Humans... are indeed very disgusting and troublesome.

For the following weeks, Si noticed something changes about Yin that he couldn’t pinpoint which. After that confrontation, the latter surprisingly didn’t say anything anymore. Yin still continued to follow him and remain silent all throughout. It was like he was just distancing himself from souls to prevent any outburst of feelings after what happened.

He also no longer disagrees with his decisions and would just support him silently. It really just looks like everything went back to the usual again. However he was very keen on observing that something was going on. Even though the latter didn’t do anything, he had a premonition that there’s something that changed underneath.

But what is it? What’s changed?

Si wanted to investigate and ask the man yet before he could do so, a news broke out.

Something happened, not just in the underworld but it also concerns the human world.

"Senior," it was No. 88 who told them about the information. "The news said that the concentration of dark energy suddenly grew. We still haven’t figured out who’s behind the scene but it seems that whoever is that wanted to gather stronger dark energy to do something unknown. What’s more, because of this, the resentment that lingers in the human world can affect the souls in the human world greatly."

The words coming from her mouth are indeed something dangerous. It seems like someone is brewing something behind the scenes.

His face looked grim and he turned to Yin. "Do you know someone who might do this?"

The latter frown. "There are many devils who have long wanted to do this. They’re just gathering their strengths quietly in the dark."

Now that is the problem. There are many enemies lurking that could be the main culprit. But who is it?
