[BL] Oops! Guiding The F Class Villain Esper Gone Wrong!
Chapter 52: EVALUATION DAYChapter 52: 52: EVALUATION DAY
TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️
As Mrs. Faux left the room, Nyx lowered his gaze to his wrist. Almost immediately, memories of his father’s whip came rushing back.
After returning from the event where he had openly stayed close to June, he hadn’t escaped punishment. His parents had seen everything.
They had seen how close he was to June, and they had also watched June step in and "save" him from Mr. Dan. His father had been furious.
That very night, he dragged Nyx into his study and lashed him repeatedly with a whip across his bare back. Again and again, the leather tore into his skin until it split open and bled.
It wasn’t the first time. At this point, Nyx had almost grown used to it. Not because it stopped hurting, but because he had long accepted that it would happen.
The pain never became easier to endure. Every strike still burned just as much as the last. Even after the punishment had finally ended, he hadn’t been able to calm himself.
The overwhelming emotions eventually drove him to relapse once again. He had taken a knife and quietly cut himself, using the physical pain to drown out everything else weighing on his mind.
Now, sitting alone before his open textbook, his mother’s warning echoed endlessly inside his head as he remembered the punishment.
His vision slowly blurred while he stared blankly at the pages before him. He knew he was taking a risk by getting closer to June.
This was the first time he had ever truly disobeyed his parents. It was the first time he had lied to them while making a decision entirely for himself. He had never imagined he would be capable of doing something like that.
But he hadn’t had a choice.
After sitting there in silence for a while, Nyx’s eyes drifted toward a framed photograph resting on the corner of his desk.
It was an old picture of himself as a child standing beside another boy who was much taller than him. His older brother.
A faint smile appeared on Nyx’s face as he gently traced his fingers across his brother’s image. "Not much longer..." he whispered softly. "I only have to wait a little longer."
He let out a quiet breath before continuing. "Soon... I’ll become stronger. Then I’ll finally be able to protect myself... just like you wanted." His fingers lingered on the picture. "I’ll be able to protect myself... and the people I love."

The day had finally arrived. It was the day of the compatibility test. This would be the very first official evaluation the first-year students faced since enrolling at Arcadia Academy, making it one of the most important examinations of their academic lives.
The compatibility test would determine each student’s official partner for the majority of their practical training throughout the academy.
It marked the formal establishment of Guide and Esper pairs that would work together during most examinations, missions, and evaluations.
The pairings weren’t completely permanent. Students would still participate in group exercises alongside other pairs whenever necessary, allowing them to work with different classmates.
Even so, the compatibility test established each student’s primary partner for the foreseeable future.
The students gradually gathered inside the Evaluation Arena, a massive stadium-like venue with a wide field stretching across its center.
The fifty newly admitted students sat together in designated rows, each seated beside the partner they had chosen for today’s examination while facing the enormous arena ahead.
Opposite them, the academy’s staff and authorities occupied an elevated platform lined with elegant tables reserved for distinguished guests.
The Chancellor and the Principal were both present, seated alongside the Vice Principal, the academy’s deans, and members of the governing board.
Several renowned S-Class Espers and Guides from the national associations had also been invited as honored guests to observe the evaluation.
As one of the country’s most prestigious institutions for training future Espers and Guides, Arcadia Academy frequently welcomed influential figures from the major associations. Watching promising students during important evaluations had become something of a tradition.
Once everyone had settled into their seats, Chancellor Gregory rose to deliver the opening speech.
He welcomed the students before carefully explaining the purpose behind today’s examination. According to him, one of the most essential qualities of an exceptional Guide was the ability to adapt to any Esper they encountered.
A professional Guide couldn’t simply rely on fate or destiny to determine who they could guide. In real emergencies, they might be forced to work with complete strangers. Because of that, every Guide needed to develop the ability to synchronize with different Espers regardless of their natural affinity.
"The purpose of this examination," Chancellor Gregory explained, "isn’t to find your one destined partner. It’s to teach you how to build compatibility with anyone through trust, communication, and proper guidance." He looked across the rows of students before continuing. "So your compatibility is something you develop—not something predetermined by destiny. No one has an excuse to fail."
With that, he returned to his seat while several other academy officials stood one after another to deliver their own brief speeches.
As the ceremony continued, Nyx found himself growing increasingly restless. His eyes constantly wandered toward the entrance. June still hadn’t arrived. His fingers nervously fidgeted together as anxiety slowly crept into his chest.
"He’s not here?" Ryan asked, leaning forward from the seat behind him.
Nyx shook his head. "No... Do you know if he’s okay?" he asked worriedly. "Maybe... maybe he broke his legs or something?"
Ryan stared at him for a moment before sighing. "No. He didn’t tell me anything." He shrugged. "Honestly, I bet he just overslept."
Nyx frowned. "I don’t think so..."
Just then—a deafening roar echoed across the stadium. A powerful gust of wind swept through the arena, forcing everyone to shield their eyes as the noise rapidly grew louder.
"What the—?" Everyone instinctively looked toward the sky.
A bright yellow helicopter descended overhead. Its spinning blades blasted violent waves of wind across the audience, sending papers flying everywhere while clothes and hair whipped wildly in every direction.
"What on earth is that?!" one of the female professors shouted as she desperately tried to keep both her robes and hair in place.
She failed. The powerful wind ripped her wig clean off.
Silence. Her smooth bald head gleamed magnificently beneath the morning sunlight.
Dean Ethan of Examinations slowly turned toward her. Beside him, Dean Ken of Arcane Research did the same. Both men froze with their mouths hanging open.
"...Oh," Ken managed weakly.
The female professor hurriedly clutched her head with both hands, her face burning with embarrassment as she scrambled after her runaway wig.
Meanwhile, the helicopter completed one final dramatic circle over the stadium, making absolutely sure everyone suffered through one last blast of wind before finally descending into the center of the arena.
The engines gradually powered down. Silence returned as everyone stared toward the helicopter.
The embarrassed professor was still struggling to shove her wig back onto her head.
"...Who’s that brat?" she muttered through gritted teeth.
The helicopter door swung open. June casually stepped out as though making an entrance onto a fashion runway rather than arriving late to an academy evaluation.
A flashy yellow jacket rested over his crisp white shirt. His neatly styled blond hair shimmered beneath the morning sun, while his black jeans and polished golden boots looked expensive enough to make luxury brands jealous.
Ignoring the countless stares fixed on him, June calmly walked across the arena toward the student seats before stopping directly in front of Nyx. With an easy smile, he lowered his sunglasses just enough to reveal his eyes.
"Sorry I’m late," he said casually. "I overslept."
