AT THE SAME TIME
XAVIER
Before I could ask anything else, the sound of approaching horses echoed through the market. Several Silver river guards appeared at the end of the street, dressed in polished silver armor. One of them immediately dismounted and bowed to Jan Win.
"Your Highness, we found you."He said.
"Good. We are returning to the palace."Jan Win nodded.
"The palace?"I blinked.
"The Lycan Imperial Palace." She calmly answered.
I looked toward Lang Li.
"My palace?"His expression was unreadable.
"I believe there are several things we should clarify."Jan Win nodded.
"That sounds ominous." I muttered.
Within minutes, we were escorted back toward the castle. Somehow, Song Hue came along too, Ana and Hin followed, and, because apparently nobody trusted leaving me alone anymore, several guards followed us as well. By the time we entered the throne room, the Empress Dowager, Lin Rui, and Zhao Rui were already there.
"Wei?"Empress asked.
"I’m fine, Mother."He said.
Her eyes moved toward Jan Win, then toward the Silver River guards, then toward the Moonleaf bundle.
"Why is Princess Jan Win here?"She looked completely confused.
"And why does she have half an escort?"The Empress Dowager raised an eyebrow.
"I apologize for the sudden arrival."Jan Win calmly stepped forward.
"Princess, you are welcome in the Lycan Empire. But perhaps you could explain why you were secretly searching the capital market?"The Empress Dowager smiled politely.
"Of course."Jan Win nodded.
"I came for two reasons."She glanced toward me.
"The first was to purchase Moonleaf herbs."Everyone became silent.
"The Silver River imperial gardens have been suffering from a rare plant disease. Moonleaf is one of the few herbs capable of restoring the soil."She lifted the bundle.
"That makes sense."Zhao Rui nodded slowly.
"But there was another reason." Jan Win looked directly at me. "I wanted to meet Prince Wei."
My parents exchanged a confused look.
"Me?"I pointed at myself.
"Yes."She said.
"Why?"I asked.
"Because I heard the stories about the lost Red Moon Flower heir who became the Lycan Emperor’s famous chef."Jan Win smiled.
The room went silent.
"That is certainly one way to introduce him." Ana whispered.
"Very dramatic."Hin nodded.
"You came from the Silver River Empire specifically to meet Wei?"Lang Li glanced toward Jan Win.
"Yes."She said.
"Why?"His eyes narrowed slightly.
"Curiosity."Jan Win calmly answered.
"Only curiosity?"Song Hue folded his arms.
"And perhaps a little admiration."Jan Win looked at him.
Lang Li’s expression immediately became noticeably colder.
"Please don’t start."I sighed.
"Well..."The Empress Dowager, however, looked delighted.
"Apparently another royal has discovered Wei."She glanced at Lang Li.
"Mother."Lang Li began.
"What?" she asked innocently.
"I thought Princess Jan Win came because of the herbs."Lin Rui rubbed her forehead.
"She did." Jan Win nodded. "And I came because I wanted to meet him."
"I haven’t even done anything."Everyone stared at me and I stared back.
"That’s probably the problem."Ana smiled.
"SPECIAL ROYAL ENCOUNTER. PRINCESS JAN WIN and XAVIER: 5%. CURRENT OBJECTIVE: UNKNOWN."The system suddenly flickered.
"Nobody look at that."I immediately covered the screen.
Unfortunately, everyone had already seen it.
"Oh, this is going to be entertaining."The Empress Dowager’s smile became enormous.
"Why does my life keep getting worse?" I groaned.
Jan Win simply smiled.
"And why does she have half an escort?"The Empress Dowager raised an eyebrow.
"I apologize for the sudden arrival."Jan Win calmly stepped forward.

Unfortunately, everyone had already seen it.

"Why does my life keep getting worse?" I groaned.
Jan Win simply smiled. Princess Jan Win ended up staying for tea. At first, I thought it would be a short conversation. It wasn’t. She seemed genuinely interested in everything I talked about, especially cooking.
"So you created the meat buns yourself?" She asked.
"Yes."I said.
"And the pastries?"She asked.
"Yes."I asked.
"The breakfast from this morning?"She asked.
"Also yes."I said.
"You are surprisingly talented."Jan Win smiled.
"Thank you."I scratched my cheek.
Across the room, Lang Li’s expression slowly darkened. Song Hue wasn’t doing much better.
"I would like to taste your cooking again."Jan Win continued happily.
"Of course."I said.
"And perhaps learn some of your recipes."She said.
"Sure."I said.
"Princess."Lang Li finally spoke.
"Yes?"Jan Win looked toward him.
"You seem to be enjoying Wei’s company." She smiled.
"I am."I said.
Lang Li went silent. Song Hue’s eyes narrowed.
"I thought you came for the herbs."He said.
"I did."I said.
"But Wei is pleasant company."Jan Win took another sip of tea.
"Pleasant?"I nearly choked.
"Very."She nodded.
Ana, sitting nearby, immediately covered her mouth to hide her laughter.
"They’re both dying inside."Hin whispered.
"I can see that." Ana whispered back.
"Perhaps Wei should rest."Lang Li stood.
"I’m not tired."I blinked.
"You cooked all morning."Lang Li said.
"I’m fine." Ana said.
"You ran through the entire market."Lang Li said.
"I’m still fine."I sighed.
"I agree with the Emperor."Song Hue suddenly stood too.
"Since when do you two agree?"I stared at both of them.
They exchanged a look.
"Since now." Lang Li answered.
Jan Win looked between them, then she smiled.
"How interesting."She said.
I immediately knew that smile. She had noticed. She knew exactly what was happening.
"You don’t need to worry." Jan Win said calmly. "I have no intention of stealing Wei away."
Lang Li relaxed slightly, Song Hue did too
"Not today, at least." She added.
Both princes froze.
"Princess!"I nearly dropped my tea.
Jan Win laughed, Ana completely lost it, even Hin had to turn away, Lang Li slowly sat back down, Song Hue stared at Jan Win suspiciously and I suddenly realized something terrible. Princess Jan Win wasn’t intimidated by either prince. She actually seemed to be enjoying making them jealous.
"Ding. Princess Jan Win and Xavier: 8% Reason: Enjoys Host’s Company."A system said.
"Oh, come on."I stared at the notification.
"What happened?"Lang Li immediately looked at me.
"Nothing." Song Hue narrowed his eyes.
"You said that too quickly." I sighed. "My life is a disaster."
"I disagree."Jan Win smiled.
"I think it is becoming rather entertaining."She looked at Lang Li and Song Hue.
I was still trying to recover from Princess Jan Win’s teasing when the system suddenly appeared.
"Ding."A system said.
A massive glowing screen appeared above the tea table.
"RELATIONSHIP STATUS: CURRENT."A system said.
"Why?"I whispered.
"Emperor Lang Li and Xavier: 55%."The system ignored me.
"Why is that displayed publicly?"Lang Li’s expression immediately became serious.
"Princess Jan Win and Xavier: 8%."A system said.
"Only eight?"Jan Win raised an eyebrow.
"That’s enough!"I said quickly.
Song Hue looked increasingly irritated as then the next line appeared.
"Song Hue and Xavier: 21%."A system said.
"Still twenty one?"Song Hue stared at the screen.
"Apparently."I muttered.
"Xavier and Lang Li: 60%."The system continued.
The entire room went silent, and my face instantly burned.
"Sixty?"Lang Li slowly turned toward me.
"I can explain." I sighed.
"You said you weren’t interested."Lang Li said.
"I said I wasn’t gay!"I gasped.
"Then why is your affection sixty percent?"Song Hue’s eyebrow twitched.
"I don’t know!"I gasped.
"Childhood memory interference."The system explained.
Jan Win looked fascinated.
"So your feelings toward the Emperor are clear, but your connection to Prince Song Hue is blocked by memories?"She asked.
"Please stop analyzing my love life."I covered my face.
"Progress."She said.
"No!"I gasped.
Ana burst out laughing, Hin shook his head.
"This system is going to destroy him."She said.
"Continue."The Empress Dowager looked delighted.
"Your Majesty!"I protested.
But the System had already displayed the final numbers.
"Current romance status: THREE ROYALS INTERESTED."A system said.
"I want a new system." I stared at the screen.
"Request denied."The system answered immediately.
Everyone burst out laughing. It seems everyone enjoys my misery.
