The sun shone across the beautiful and sunny sixth floor of the Tower of the Black.
However, despite the sunny weather, the mood was quite solemn among the players occupying the place.
It was because today they would be launching an all-out attack on the hackers, and most of them might not survive the ordeal.
Knock~! Knock~!
"Come in."
Leon said.
He, Hermes, and Seonwoo Kim were standing around a round table. They were doing the last preparations for the attack.
Today was an important day, especially for Leon, so he didn’t get much sleep last night, if any at all.
A glasses-wearing beauty entered the room. She was a new member of Dead Redemption. She was basically Leon’s secretary.
Dead Redemption wasn’t the same as before. The number limit of only 10 players had been scrapped.
There were about fifty members in the guild now.
"Yes, Sky?"
Leon said.
"A player Fang Raon has requested a meeting with you regarding the attack. Apparently he has some valuable information that might help with the mission."
Sky said.
"We are busy."
Leon said and turned his gaze back to the map in the table, and Sky was about to leave to tell that to Raon, but then Hermes spoke aloud.
"Isn’t he the brother of Fang Raizen?"
Hermes’ lips curled into a smile.
Hearing that, Leon lifted his gaze from the map, and he looked at Hermes with surprise, as he thought that Raizen’s only brother was Raikou.
"Bring him in."
Leon said coldly and sat down on the chair as Sky went outside to fetch the man, and soon, she came back with a tall, athletic man.
"Fang Raon of Rose Records, it is an honor."
Fang Raon put his hand on his chest, bowed slightly, and suddenly felt a tingling sensation at the back of his head.
’Someone is trying to see into my mind to see my thoughts and emotions... Unfortunately for them, that won’t work.’
He thought.
’I can’t see into his mind.’
Leon thought with a frown.
In that moment, Fang Raon looked across the room at the three figures, and eventually his gaze landed at Leon.
He immediately could tell that he was Leon, the strongest player in the world, because of his powerful aura.
’The strongest.’
"You have information about the raid?"
Hermes asked.
"The raid will fail. The hackers know that we’re about to attack. They’ve most likely already formed a trap for us."
Fang Raon said.
"What?!"
Leon cried out.
"...How do you know about that?"
Hermes asked with a curious expression.
’I can’t possibly tell them that my father was behind all of this. They’ll report to the cops if true, and whole Fang Family will suffer as a result.
’Therefore, I must lie. With my powerful Read, they cannot tell if I am lying or not.’
Fang Raon thought.
"I know someone from the Reality First group. That someone has loose lips. He accidentally revealed too much information that he wasn’t supposed to.
"From what I know, there is a spy within the player community, a member of Reality First who isn’t a hacker but rather someone who has masked himself as a player.
"That someone spilled the beans to Reality First."
Fang Raon said.
"Damn it!"
Leon smashed his fist on the table in anger as he could already feel his heroic achievements slipping away from his grip.
Today was supposed to be the day that he became a legendary hero of the tower who would be remembered for years to come.
Was it really going to end before it even began?
"I did suggest that we should’ve had a meeting with a selected few guilds to create a small, yet powerful army of only core members of the player community.
"Smaller chance of there being spies of Reality First. Instead, you invited every guild, and thus, much higher chance of having spies in there."
Hermes said.
"Tch!"
Leon angrily clicked his tongue.
"It’s not all bad news, though. This is also good."
Fang Raon said.
"How is any of this good? They know we’re coming. We’ll be slaughtered like pigs if we take one step onto the floor!"
Leon shouted.
"You know about the smuggling routes?"
Fang Raon asked.
"...I do."
Leon nodded.
Immediately, Hermes knew where he was going with it, and his lips curled into a smile as he rubbed his chin.
"We’ll take the smuggling route to the first floor. These smuggling routes are very secret, so even the hackers won’t know about them.
"While they’re focused on the tower with their trap, we can attack them from the place where they would never suspect.
"If my guess is correct, most of the hackers will be hiding near the tower, ready to attack as soon as they see us, leaving the city unprotected."
Fang Raon said.
"We take over the city, and then what? The reason we wanted to attack from the tower in the first place was to stop hackers from escaping that way once Hermes has used Space Lock.
"This leaves the tower completely exposed, and the hackers can just escape whenever they want to."
Leon said.
"Hahaha, I like your plan!"
Hermes pointed at Raon with a grin, as if he realized Raon’s plan, while Leon was still confused about it.
"What plan? What do you mean?"
Leon asked with frustration.
He felt like he was the least intelligent individual in the whole room, and it really frustrated him to no end!
Seonwoo Kim was also confused.
"You can explain it."
Fang Raon crossed his arms and said.
"Raon’s plan is a trap. He wants us to form a small army to take over the city, and when it’s completely in our control, the hackers will have two choices.
"They can either attack us in the city, which they suspect will be full of players ready to fight.
"Or they can escape to the second floor and make it into their second base. Nonethless, the new players are completely screwed, so it’s fine for them.
"And besides, with this, they will have trapped the whole player community to the first floor, which is perfect for them.
"I believe they will choose the second choice, thinking that they can just find the smuggling routes by themselves, and then assign guards there as well to make sure that all the players are thoroughly trapped on the first floor.
"And they will use my tactic against us and steal my "Space Lock" skill, and make sure that we can’t use Tower Pearls to leave the first floor."
Hermes said.
"Isn’t that horrible for us?!"
Leon cried out.
"It would, but that’s where Raon’s trap goes into play. He wants them to choose the second option.
"While we attack the city with a small army, we will leave the rest of the army to the second floor, near the tower, and when the hackers emerge from the tower, they’ll attack them right away.
"The hackers won’t expect the ambush, and they’ll be completely stunlocked, and most of them will die right away.
"Then, when we receive a word from the rest of the army that they’re attacking the hackers, the ones occupying the city will attack the hackers from the back.
"We will completely sandwich and kill all of them!"
Hermes said.
"...What if they choose the first option?"
Leon asked.
"Then it’ll be a bloodbath on both sides. A bloody, long battle."
Hermes said.
"..."
Leon thought about it for a while, and it honestly sounded pretty damn good.
It was such a well-planned plan that he didn’t feel like there was any chance that they might lose!
"Fine, we’ll do this."
Leon said.
"How do we tell about this plan to everyone without the snitch finding out and exposing our plan?"
Seonwoo Kim asked.
"We’ll stop everyone’s communication with a jamming device that I have in my possession."
Hermes said.
"Sky, tell everyone that we’ll have an emergency meeting in ten minutes."
Leon said.
Sky, the glasses-wearing beauty, nodded and headed out to tell everybody to gather in the Adventurer Guild’s hall.
"You’re also coming with us to the city."
Leon suddenly said to Raon.
"...I am?"
Fang Raon said in a surprise.
"Honestly, I don’t trust you. You might be the spy of the Reality First. You just happen to know someone from there, huh? It feels a little too coincidental to me.
"And you’re Raizen’s brother... and I don’t trust anyone he is associated with.
"If I have even a smallest feeling that you might be trying to betray us, I’ll kill you immediately."
Leon said coldly.
"...Fine by me."
Fang Raon shrugged his shoulders.
"I don’t think you’re a traitor. Otherwise, why even make us more vigilant than before by telling us this?
"You could’ve just told the hackers what we’re about to do and done nothing else and just let them slaughter us.
"If you’re really a spy, then this would’ve just added an unnecessary extra step into the plan."
Hermes said with a smile.
"Hmph."
Leon just scoffed.
He didn’t like that the two of them were making him feel stupid—didn’t like that one bit.
