James transformed.
It wasn’t hugely noticeable, but there were still some changes, such as his skin turning paler and hair turning black like night.
"This is a secret legacy of the tower. The legacy of the Kuroganehara Izan, the founder of the Black Online."
James said with a chuckle.
"The legacy... of Kuroganehara Izan..."
The players were shocked. They didn’t think there was a legacy such as this one in the game.
"This legacy gives me several privileges. I think Izan planned to give this legacy to the one who cleared all hundred floors first.
"With this legacy, I have unlimited power and control over the game."
James said with a smile.
"...Unlimited power and control. How the hell can we beat somebody like that?"
Rasmus asked with a frown.
"He is lying. The hackers are still limited by some restrictions, and besides, Izan wouldn’t have added something gamebreaking to the game.
"There must be a way."
Hermes said.
"See for yourself."
James said, and he snapped his fingers, and suddenly, behind him, thousands of monsters emerged from the thin air.
Small and big monsters. Monsters from every floor in the game. Except those from floors that no player had ever reached.
"...There are so many!"
Rasmus shouted.
"Like I said, restrictions. You see, he only summoned monsters from floors that have already been explored by players.
"The hackers cannot access the floors that the players hadn’t reached yet, so James just cannot summon a monster from the 100th floor.
"Black Online Company has created several more restrictions for the hackers, such as they cannot access boss raids to open up more floors."
Hermes said.
In that moment, he summoned Sinkiller, the grimoire capable of reality manipulation, and he made air poisonous for the monsters.
The monsters gasped in a shock, and their health bars rapidly decreased until they quickly dissolved into nothingness.
’This is such an overpowered weapon.’
Hermes thought.
"Heh, I’d prefer doing it by myself either way. The weapon of my choosing."
James reached out his hand towards his inventory and pulled out an ornate blade with a black blade.
It, strangely enough, didn’t have a hilt, so James had to hold the blade from its base with his gloved hand.
It was hard to call it a sword or anything like that because it was literally just a blade.
"Blade is the name. One of the Twelve Mythic Weapons. It’s capable of cutting literally through anything, and I mean... anything."
James said with a smile.
Swoosh~!
Several arrows came flying at him. He quickly drew the blade and deflected them effortlessly. The arrows fell harmlessly to the ground.
Rasmus held his bow, and then he controlled the blood, crafted several blood arrows, and placed them on the string.
Then, he pulled back the string and released a barrage of deadly blood arrows.
"Heh!"
James jumped across the space, appeared right in front of Rasmus, and swung the blade for his head.
"Blood Shield!"
Rasmus crafted a shield made of blood and put it in the way, but the "Blade" just cut straight through it.
It also cut through his arm, and Rasmus could only helplessly watch as his arm fell to the ground in a pool of blood.
"White Chains!"
In that moment, beautiful white chains wrapped around James’s body and dragged him down to the ground.
"Cut!"
James said, and the white chains were suddenly sliced apart, and he jumped back to his feet.
"The Blade can cut through anything, like I said."
He said.
It was the first time that Hermes’ white chains had been cut like that, and even other hackers had been unable to do so.
At that moment, a large shadow fell over James. He looked up. A massive fist came crashing down towards him.
"THIS IS FOR LEON!"
Seonwoo Kim screamed and punched down, but then her massive gigantic arm started bleeding, and it was suddenly sliced in half!
The two halves of her arm fell to the ground, dripping blood.
"Ugh..."
Seonwoo Kim stumbled back, almost causing nearby buildings to fall down like dominoes, as her massive body crashed into them.
Her right arm was now a mangled mess of flesh and bone. It was bleeding so much and with such big droplets that the ground was quickly becoming crimson.
"Forever Regeneration!"
In that moment.
Her massive arm started to heal before their eyes, and it was soon back to normal with not a scratch in sight.
This was Seonwoo Kim’s trump card—Forever Regeneration—no matter how much she gets sliced and chopped.
She could always just regenerate!
That’s why she was one of the hardest people in the tower to kill. Even Leon wasn’t confident he could kill her.
"What if I just chop off your head?"
James jumped towards her massive self and swung the Blade, and Seonwoo Kim’s head suddenly slid off of her body, landing with a thud on the ground.
But then...
A head popped out of her neck, and she laughed menacingly.
"You can’t kill me!"
Seonwoo Kim let out an ugly laugh and then punched at James and sent him flying through several buildings.
Boom~! Boom~! Boom~!
"Hahah... hahaha... haha..."
She kept laughing, but then out of nowhere, her right arm fell off. Then her left arm fell off. Then her legs fell off, and finally her head rolled away.
Her massive body fell to the ground.
"Ah..."
She gasped in a surprise, and she thought that she could just use Forever Regeneration to heal her back, but for some reason, it wasn’t working.
"I made sure that my Blade keeps cutting you forever and forever. Every cell that you regenerate will be cut by my Blade. This is Forever Slash."
James walked from the wreckage of destroyed buildings, looking zero-injured at all.
"What..."
Seonwoo Kim gasped in surprise with her separated head, which she could still use to communicate.
She desperately tried to use Forever Regeneration, but it just wasn’t working, and her health dropped all the way down.
"No... Leon... Save... Me..."
She pleaded, but when she looked for Leon, she didn’t see him anywhere, not even on top of the potatoes.
Leon had run away!
’That... can’t be...’
She let out her last gasp, and then everything turned dark, and her massive body vanished from the city.
Seonwoo Kim, the strongest Tank of the Black Online, had died!
"...Seonwoo."
Hermes whispered her name.
"Kuroganehara Izan’s legacy gives me enhanced strength, enhanced durability, and the ability to grow stronger with every battle I fight.
"It’s truly a broken legacy."
James said with a smile.
Despair spread across the people watching from the safety of their homes. It was doomed. Black Online was going to die!
...
Black Online Company, the control room.
It was silent. Deadly silent. The employees even had lost their faith as soon as they found out that James had found Kuroganehara Izan’s legacy.
That legacy, in the first edition of the game, was supposed to be the ultimate reward for that player that cleared the tower.
In the end, it was changed.
Thus, that legacy shouldn’t have even been in the game, but in some random code of the game, that legacy still existed.
And James found it!
It was, without a doubt, the most broken thing in the game.
"..."
Kuroganehara Izan stood silently in the corner.
It was hard for anyone to tell what he was thinking about, but it definitely couldn’t be anything good.
...
’Father did this. It’s my duty as his son to fix the problems that my father caused. I will make things right.’
Fang Raon thought.
However.
He had no weapon. Only his fists. And that simply alone wasn’t even enough to scratch James.
He had just killed one of the strongest players in the tower like it was nothing, and Raon wasn’t foolish enough to think that he was on the same level as Seonwoo Kim.
"Killing James is impossible."
Fang Raon walked to Hermes and said.
"...Is that so?"
Hermes glanced at him briefly, but he noticed that Raon didn’t say that because he believed they should give up.
No.
There was something else he wanted to say.
"However, we could trap him somewhere forever. Where he cannot do anything. A prison of sorts."
Fang Raon said.
"And where is that? It must be a place where he cannot just teleport away, but I cannot think of a place like that."
Hermes said.
"The place below us. The true bottom of the tower. It is its own separate space, is it not? He cannot bend space to move around floors like over in here."
Fang Raon pointed towards the ground.
"...Place below us?"
Hermes looked at the ground, and then he realized what he was talking about, and his eyes widened in a surprise.
"Zero Floor?"
"Would it work?"
Fang Raon asked.
"Can we even access that place? It’s true that Zero Floor is basically its own dimension. It’s been coded that way. You cannot travel there using normal ways.
"It has never been intended to be used more than once."
Hermes said.
"We cannot access it, but we know someone who can."
Fang Raon said and looked towards the sky, as if he were trying to look someone in the face.
...
Black Online Company, the control room.
"...The Zero Floor?"
The workers gasped in surprise, and they looked at each other and wondered whether that would.
The zero floor was its separate dimension, and by sending James there, he was basically outside the tower in its own pocket dimension!
A perfect prison.
"Open the Zero Floor!"
Kuroganehara Izan immediately ordered.
"Will it really work? Can’t James just teleport back to the tower from there?"
"No, he can’t. Zero Floor is in its own pocket dimension. It’s like he is stuck in a completely different game altogether, and he wouldn’t be able to just jump from one game to another with his hacks.
"That’s just the way we coded it so none of the players accidentally stumbled back to the Zero Floor..."
Kuroganehara Izan just watched, but even if there was a plan in place, the players somehow had to take James to the Zero Floor.
Which might as well be as hard as killing him.
