Blood Primordial: Start With S-Rank Blood Dragon Bloodline
Chapter 44: Mangled CorpsesHis control and speed were now something else; he could now strike nine times within a second, with astonishing power to penetrate most beasts in a single strike.
Max had now become a killing machine; every step he took was minimal to reach perfection without wasting any strength or effort.
This beast wave seemed like the previous one, without anything out of the ordinary compared to the previous ones, making many calm down as they believed they would survive without trouble.
Although at first it seemed the number of beasts was a bit more than previous waves, there was nothing else different, as with the transformation realm experts’ help, these numbers can be brought under control with little trouble.
But the simpler the final waves were, the more anxious the old commander became. He was the strongest one here, and he felt something unknown and mysterious was happening that he could not truly fathom.
Not only him, but the transformation realm experts and some highly perceptive individuals also felt uneasy as time passed by.
Max was also one of them as he felt something creepy was going on. But just like others, he couldn’t tell why he was feeling such emotion when they were calmly facing the last beast wave.
Although the feeling remained, and two hours quickly passed, the last beast wave didn’t show any surprises. Many soldiers were already showing smiles on their faces as they started to see a decrease in the number of beasts.
But the highly perceptive individual felt something like something very bad was about to happen.
Andrew, Mathew, and the members of the Shadow Wolf Mercenary Group were fighting near Max.
Their faces were exhausted, but they couldn’t help smiling. They had survived three days of hell. Only the final stretch remained.
They had also become accustomed to relying on Max whenever they were in danger, and because of that, they had managed to survive far longer than they otherwise would have.
They were exhausted to their limits, but they could finally see hope.
The Beast Tide was finally coming to an end. However, just as Andrew glanced toward Max, his expression suddenly changed.
Max’s face was unusually serious. His eyes were fixed on the distant Myriad Beast Mountains, and there was no relief in his expression.
"Max..." Andrew’s voice became cautious.
"What is it?"
Max didn’t answer immediately, as he himself couldn’t say what he was feeling and could only say. "Don’t be careless; we shouldn’t be happy until it ends completely."
Andrew remained silent, hearing this, although he didn’t know why Max was anxious, but he believed him.
And just as Max was about to say something more, he felt the blood within him stir. He felt something terrifying was coming.
"Move back!" He quickly shouted, and instantly the two brothers didn’t question him. They immediately followed his command and moved away from the front of the wall.
The Shadow Wolf mercenaries didn’t understand what had happened, but after seeing Max’s reaction, they also hurriedly retreated.
The commander and other transformation realm experts also felt something. The old commander’s expression changed.
"Quick! Move away from the front of the walls!"
His powerful voice echoed across the entire battlefield. But it was still a bit late, as suddenly the indestructible walls that held and protected the Flameheart City for generations started trembling, and then mysterious symbols started to appear in different areas.
"Run!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The outer sections of the massive walls suddenly exploded one after another. Powerful explosions tore through the battlefield.
Many instantly got caught in it and died instantly in those powerful explosions. Cracks spread across the walls as enormous sections began to collapse.
And through the newly created gaps, hundreds of beasts surged forward.
For the first time since the beginning of the Beast Tide, the beasts had breached the walls. They had entered Flameheart City.
Hundreds of mad beasts entered the city as nothing was stopping them. And they immediately started to hunt ordinary people, women, and children hiding within the city.
The entire city, from outside to inside, was in turmoil. But this was just the beginning, as something more bizarre and horrifying happened just outside the city walls.
Max’s group, because of early warning from him, was barely able to survive the explosion of the walls. But the situation was different for most front lines as they collapsed with the explosion.
They immediately lost about a thousand people, leaving them with only about nothing more than about three thousand people.
The situation was the same at the other three city gates as this explosion breached the city’s defences.
Max and others, as they came out of the rubble, felt the grave situation of the city, but this wasn’t the end.
Max felt an eerie and terrifying aura gathering right in front of the eastern gate. Every transformation realm expert felt that, and they immediately arrived at the eastern gate, which was mostly wide open by the explosion.
Then they saw something horrifying. Countless corpses lay scattered outside the city.
Humans.
Beasts.
All of them had died during the previous battle or the sudden destruction of the walls.
Yet now... They suddenly began to move. At first, it was only a slight twitch.
Then another. Soon, countless corpses began violently convulsing.
Flesh twisted.
Bones cracked.
Skin stretched and tore.
Organs were dragged together as though an invisible force was manipulating the dead. Blood flowed across the ground and gathered toward the centre.
The corpses began to mangle with one another. Flesh and organs tangled together to create a horrifying mass of abominations like it was a scene straight from the most horrifying nightmare.
Everyone who witnessed it felt their blood run cold. Their mind seemed to receive a terrifying shock; even the transformation realm expert, the old commander, felt a chill through their spine seeing this.
The masses of flesh, bones, and blood continued to merge, and the writhing mass became larger and larger.
Until finally—everything stopped.
The countless corpses had disappeared. Only a single enormous mass of mangled flesh and bones remained before the eastern gate.
