At the shelter they originated from, Faye and Leo were standing side by side. Their job was to await a signal indicating one of the classes were in trouble, but for the time being it was all silent.
Faye kept stealing glances at Leo, not quite sure how to talk to him.
’He’s so silent. I would’ve thought that the great war hero would have more to say,’ Faye thought to herself, ’Because right now, it’s just awkward silence.’
"I know you’re looking in my direction," Leo said out loud, which made Faye straighten her posture.
Just then, a beeping sound from their watches had alerted them that one of the teams needed their help.
"I’ll get to it!" Faye shouted, and ran off like a bolt of lightning.
As the one with a speed ability, she was meant to be the one who was sent first to emergencies, and internally, she was secretly thankful that a teacher had alerted them. It was a good excuse to leave.
It took her less than a minute to arrive on location, finding herself near a slow moving river with mini waterfalls, and several caves and cliffs. There, a shy looking teacher raised a trembling finger at a beast hanging from one of the caves.
"Beast! Beast!" She cried, pointing at it.
Faye let out an annoyed sigh. While she was thankful that she was called out to avoid an awkward situation, she could definitely tell that these snake-looking beasts were basic tier. Having a trigger happy teacher who jumps at the sight of a weak beast might cause problems if there was an actual threat elsewhere.
Taking out her rapier, Faye charged at the beasts.

Leo awaited for Faye’s return, but he quietly chuckled to himself remembering how he called her out just a moment prior. While he stood there, he decided to smell in the fresh air, but got interrupted as he received a second beep on his watch.
"Another one?" Leo said, "Is this planet more dangerous than we thought? I hope there aren’t any more calls."
He left his post, and ran towards the source of the distress call. If there was a 3rd alert right about now, then neither he nor Faye would be able to reach them in time.

Using an earth knife, Quinn was able to carve out the crystal from the bouldersnail, and pocketed it. Secretly, outside of Vorden’s vision, he had actually placed it within the shared system storage.
’Haven’t used this skill in a while,’ Quinn thought.
The group continued traversing the jungle again, and this time, Erin was using her inspect skill to help locate any new beasts. Although, the most she was able to identify were plants.
Erin walked ahead of the others, using the inspect skill like always, and came across a strangely shaped plant that looked like an S, was as tall as a human, and had blue ring-like patterns on it.

When they saw the same message window, Erin’s face contorted into that of pure disgust, while Quinn’s face grew red.
"Huh? What’s making your face look like that?" Fex asked.
"We got to get away from this plant," Erin said, "I sense that it’s evil."
"Doesn’t look very evil," Vorden tilted his head.
Quinn grabbed Vorden’s shoulder, "I’m with Erin on this one, we should probably leave this one alone."
Walking around the blue ring growth plant, they came across another bouldersnail. Erin pointed at it, then nodded to Vorden and Quinn, who then flipped it over. Not wanting to make the same mistake as last time, Erin jumped up and thrusted her rapier deep within the beast’s underside.

"Ah, what a shame. If you had just been the first one to kill it the first time around, you would’ve gotten about 5000 EXP," the system said.
Furious, Erin dug her hands into the flesh of the beast, and began ripping it in half. The outer shell of the bouldersnail had its durability weakened now that it was dead, and its beast crystal didn’t power it anymore. The shell broke apart and cracked, the flesh tearing at the seams, black blood oozing everywhere, and the thing finally split into two.
She tore out the crystal inside, and nearly crushed it in her hands just holding it.
"Careful, you don’t want to destroy a beast crystal. Trust me, it’s not pleasant!" Vorden called out.
Internally, he thought that Erin was being quick to anger right about now. Raten meanwhile, whistled.
"Look at her go! I love me the kind of girl who can just rip and tear flesh like it’s nothing!"
Erin got off of the bouldersnail, and pocked the crystal in the same way that Quinn did, by placing it in their system.
The group had been able to accumulate about 50 points, a pretty decent score, but Erin wanted to go higher. The only beast they were able to find so far were the bouldersnails, something they already scanned.
"Let’s go further, to the edge of the teacher’s radius," Erin said, "There, we are bound to find a beast no one has ever scanned before."
Judging by their own skills, they were all strong enough to take on an intermediate tier by themselves. Although Vorden didn’t know this, Fex and Erin were also able to defeat an advanced tier. At the time, it had been nearly with an inch of their lives, but they had grown since then, and were now working as a team.
The group ultimately agreed, and headed off, deeper into the jungle.

Pushing through the foliage, Leo managed to reach the source of the signal, coming from a man who looked like an ancient wizard. Surrounding him were a group of 4 students, all whispering worriedly.
"Oh, thank god you’re here," Kaffin said to Leo.
"What’s the situation, I don’t sense any beasts nearby," Leo responded.
"About that," Kaffin glanced down to the kids, then back to Leo, "This team here had two of its members go missing. They’re named Peter and Cia, they look like—"
Kaffin paused, then remembered that Leo couldn’t see, "Nevermind about that. The thing is, they went missing not too long ago, and I can’t send anyone else to go out to find them."
A girl with yellow hair, and black stripes stepped forward, "One of my bees were watching over them, and told me that they were attacked by a beast and fell down a river!"
"Do you know what direction this happened in?" Leo asked.
Sarah and Micheal told them the general area, how it was down stream, and near certain specific fruits. Leo nodded, committing this information to memory.
Not wanting to risk another second, he charged towards that location. Even if the chances were slim that they survived the river, and didn’t get attacked by any strong beasts, Leo had to take the risk. He wouldn’t be able to forgive himself if he didn’t.
