Blood Queen Reborn

It had been several minutes since Del initially activated the scanners, but now the students had scanned so many things in the area that they were unable to scan anything new. He could tell due to a lack of audible beeps within earshot.

"I guess it’s time for us to move on," Del said, then removed a larger device from his waist that looked to be a bigger version of the student’s scanners.

He pressed a few buttons on the device, then it clicked, sending a signal to the students more far away indicating to come back, as well as turning off their scanners.

After waiting a few minutes for everyone to come back, Del shouted, "Alright, students, everyone gather up in the center, it’s time for us to move on to the next area!"

All of the students slowly began to gather around Del, but as they did, there was a faint, rhythmic vibration under their feet. It slowly increased in strength, becoming audible, and louder.

"What was that?!" A student cried.

"I don’t think it’s human," another whispered.

Erin’s team listened around for the source of the sound, using their more sensitive hearing to try to figure it out before the others.

"Is this an earthquake?" Fex commented.

Erin turned towards the noise, "No, this sounds more like a—"

As if to prove him wrong, it grew louder, with the crashing of trees falling onto the ground.

Everyone turned towards the source of the sound, finding a large beast pushing through the trees. It was one with a long neck, stood on all fours, and appeared to be like how dinosaurs in old images used to be depicted, even the size of one. On its back was a large flower bud, completely covering its neck and tail, and its skin was a light minty green.

They all tried to scan the beast, but Del already turned off their scanners, meaning they wouldn’t be able to figure out what tier it was.

Quinn took a step back, and turned to Erin.

Erin scoffed, and took out her sword, taking a step forward, "Advanced tier? We can take on this beast."

Quinn, however, had a feeling that this beast might be stronger than other advanced tiers. For one, the power level difference within the same tier wasn’t always the same beast to beast, and when it got higher, the range of power would increase drastically.

Not only that, but even though Erin and Fex had managed to defeat an advanced tier before, that was back on a planet when they were alone. They didn’t need to worry about revealing their secret. Ironically enough, when there was a full class surrounding them, that was when they were incapable of defeating a beast like this.

He grabbed onto Erin’s arm, and tried to yank her away from the beast, only to nearly fall over slipping on the mud. She didn’t even budge an inch.

"I know you’re strong, but you can’t defeat this beast!" Quinn whisper-yelled.

While that was going on, Del nearly dropped the large scanner on his side, and shakily pointed it at the large beast. When it had audibly beeped, he gulped, and looked at the screen. It indeed was an advanced tier beast.

Del screamed in his mind, ’WE’RE GOING TO DIE!’

Panicking, he rapidly pressed the distress signal on his watch several times to the point where he might’ve broken it, but that was the least of his worries. Being a fighter wasn’t in his job description, it was why he even became a teacher in the first place, to avoid combat.

Erin took another step towards the beast, eyeing it intensely. At the same time she had stepped on a branch, and the flora saur twisted its head towards her.

"Erin!" Layla whisper-yelled,"Maybe moving isn’t a good idea?"

Aside from its initial reaction to Erin, it had barely moved, which is why Del hadn’t told the students to run away and escape. There was a hope that the students would realize that sudden movements might scare the beast, causing it to attack them.

With it being advanced tier, it was more likely to have higher intelligence as was often the case with high tiers. This made them more dangerous in not only the strength department, but could also mean they can strategize against humans. It was a scary possibility to consider.

Instead of attacking, Erin decided to heed her friends advice, and watch the beast carefully.

The flower bud on the beast’s back opened up, revealing pink flowers inside, as well as 6 vines that rose before falling to the beast’s side. The vines kept growing and growing, reaching a student that was close to the beast. The vine was a little thicker at the end, like as if there was another flower bud inside, and hovered in front of the kid.

The student wanted to scream and run, but closed his eyes out of a desperate hope that if he couldn’t see the beast, it would cease to exist.

Nothing happened for a few moments, and the student opened his eyes only for the vine to split open, and attach itself to him. He tried his best to break out, but its suction and adhesive properties were too strong.

It lifted him up in the air, and tossed the student into the beast’s mouth, revealing several sharp and jagged teeth that ate him in one go.

"Everyone run! It’s a hostile advanced tier beast!" Del shouted, and ran into a random direction.

Not wanting to stick around any longer, the students followed him, expecting the adult of the situation to have a plan. Although the beast hadn’t moved, there were a few unfortunate souls that weren’t fast enough to escape its vines, and were chucked into its mouth.

Noticing that everyone was running away, this would provide Erin an excellent opportunity to defeat the beast without anyone watching. She ran off in the opposite direction of her teacher, and hid into the shadows when no one was looking.

"We gotta go guys!" Fex shouted, "I don’t want to fight another advanced tier beast again!"

Both Quinn and Layla wanted to stick around to help Erin, but they weren’t confident in their skills to defeat a beast that strong.

"Come on!" Vorden shouted to Quinn.

"I’m sure Erin can figure something out, I hope," Layla said, then chased after Del.

The others in Erin’s team followed, expecting that Del would have a solution or a plan in mind, but unbeknownst to them, he had nothing.

’If I go back and try to save them now, we could all die. This is the right thing to do,’ he told himself.

He ran through the jungle, his class following behind him, searching for somewhere remotely safe to go.

That was when he noticed the trees up ahead were thinning, coming to an area that looked to be a clearing, and it was at the base of a mountain.

’We might have no choice, but to turn around and fight it off,’ Del thought, ’At least in a open area, I have a chance to use my ability more easily.’

On their way to the mountain, Peter made Cia a crutch so she wouldn’t need to put as much pressure on her foot, allowing the two to travel a little faster. As they did, he kept touching his lips, recalling how it felt back on the tree.

It made sense, in a way, with how the two kept spending a lot of time together, but even still, what if she only wanted to kiss him in the moment? It was right after they experienced a lot of hardship, and they didn’t even have an official label yet. Neither of them had called each other boyfriend girlfriend out loud, so there was still some ambiguity in his mind.

They had been lucky that their trip was mostly uneventful, aside from a single instance of sudden thunder in the distance earlier. That had startled them, so they made an effort to move faster, just in case the suspected rainstorm was actually a lightning storm.

’She must be strong to be able to push herself this far despite the pain,’ Peter wondered, noting that they’ve traveled pretty far from the lake.

Coming across the base of the mountain, Cia and Peter collapsed onto the ground. To say it had been a long day would be an understatement. So far, they hadn’t encountered any powerful beasts, only finding the occasional bouldersnail that weren’t a threat if left alone.

"Okay... Okay... We’re here...." Cia panted, fanning herself, "Now what?"

Peter looked at the mountain, then surveyed the jungle in front of him, noticing some movement in the trees coming towards them.

"Hey, is there something coming towards us?" Peter squinted.

Cia turned around and saw glimpses of people between the trees.

"I think it’s another class!" Cia smiled, then stood up to wave her hands. However, right as she was about to, she stopped, "...Why are they so scared? What are they running from?"
