Blood Queen Reborn

In one moment, Layla was with the others, victory within sight, and then the next, darkness.

At first, she didn’t know what was going on, getting swished around, but not feeling any pain. Then she made a pretty reasonable guess that she was swallowed by one of the purple beasts, unable to move in the extremely cramped and slimy... organic tube? Whatever it was she was in. She tried moving around to break out, but all it did was make her fall down faster.

’Crap, what do I do?’ Layla thought, then felt around for her bow, ’Wait, where’s my bow?!’

That was when she felt the tips of her legs break out of the tight tube, flailing around in some sort of open space. She didn’t know where it led, but she did know that her legs were slowly sliding free as gravity took its natural hold.

She started to panic, ’Oh no, am I going to end up falling down a pit? Or worse, I’m going to get digested alive in a pool of acid! Ew!’

Her hands and lower torso were the next to move freely, and it was then that Layla really wished she had some sort of ability.

’At least if I still had telekinesis then I could levitate down, or even the shadow ability would’ve helped. It was useful in Logan’s game whenever I wanted to go down massive pits.’

Lastly, her head was the last thing still attached to the strange thick substance, and she was just going to have to hope that she could regenerate whatever situation she was about to fall into.

’Mom... Dad... wherever you two are... I’m sorry I wasn’t a good enough daughter!’ Layla thought as her head fell out of the strange substance, and she began free falling.

It was a dark tunnel, one that Layla was able to thankfully see in, and she looked down, trying to guess when she was about to crash. She was spinning mid-air, and was trying to level her body so that her feet would hit the ground first.

Layla had a feeling crashing on her head wouldn’t end so well.

Then, as the floor got closer and closer, there was a strange yellow hairy dot on the ground, and Layla couldn’t help but think, ’Is that Vorden?’

By sheer accident, Layla had crashed feet first into Vorden’s back, creating a mess of everyone’s flesh and bones.

"OW! I JUST healed that!" Vorden cried in pain.

Before Layla had landed into him, Vorden was the first to fall, and was traveling through the strange caves underground. Thankfully, he had the regeneration ability, so he was able to survive, but it took him just until now to fully heal everything.

Layla’s lower half of her body was completely demolished, turning into a jumbled mess of gore, which, Vorden wasn’t doing much better as his lower half’s bones were all broken.

At the bottom of the pit, there were faint light blue crystals embedded in the walls, faintly illuminating the area. It was just well lit enough for Vorden to see who it was that dropped in.

Layla was grimacing in pain, but she was healing right in front of his eyes. Bones formed, muscles wrapping around them, limbs regenerating. Her legs reformed in a matter of seconds.

"Your... Your ability isn’t telekinesis, is it?" Vorden said.

Despite having copied a level 5 regeneration ability earlier, his body was healing at a much slower rate than Layla’s did. Even if her ability was regeneration, there was no way a supposed level 2 regeneration ability user should out heal him.

Getting back onto her feet, Layla had to gulp down her hunger as she was basically surrounded by the smell of flesh everywhere, and healing her massive injuries just intensified it more. It was going to be hard to explain everything somehow given the situation, but interrupting her thoughts, they all heard the sound of rocks shuffling from above.

"Is that a rock person—" Layla’s eyes widened, "It’s Quinn!"

Thinking fast, Layla jumped up, and caught Quinn mid air, who had made himself rock armor.

The two crashed onto the ground, thankfully not from several stories this time, and Quinn removed the rock armor. It was the only thing he could think of to survive the fall as he didn’t expect both Layla and Vorden to be there.

When looking at Vorden, Quinn grimaced at his state. He just finished regenerating his lower back, and adjusted himself to sit upright, but to Quinn, he wasn’t used to seeing someone other than the vampires in his life heal from such a wound.

Vorden watched as Layla displayed an impressive feat of strength, one that she wouldn’t have been able to do if she was only able to use one ability. It was impossible for a normal person to use more than one ability, except for one exception.

Opening his mouth, Vorden faced her, "Are you a Bl—?"

"I’m a ghoul!" Layla interrupted him, then slammed her hands over her mouth, "Wait, I didn’t mean to—"

Vorden blinked, and Quinn got up, prepared to defend Layla if Vorden wasn’t going to take the secret well.

"You’re not going to tell anyone, right?" Layla worried, "Crap, I’ve been so mean to you, and surely you’d want to get back at me—"

"When I said I was going to keep Erin’s ability a secret, I meant it, and that includes... whatever it is you are," Vorden calmly said.

Layla let out a massive sigh of relief, then looked down at the viscera around her, "Oh thank god, so you won’t mind if I...?"

Not waiting for an answer, Layla went down to her knees, and shoved Vorden’s flesh into her mouth. There was quite a bit of it, given that Vorden needed to regenerate his body twice now.

"You’re not like a ghoul from those old shows right?" Vorden hesitantly asked, just watching Layla eat what used to be part of his body, "Your flesh is not going to... fall off right?"

Layla stopped mid bite of a leg, and stared at him from the corner of her eyes, "I hope not," then continued eating.

Not wanting to continue to watch Layla, Vorden turned to Quinn. Given that he was strangely unable to copy Fex’s ability, and he saw Erin use an ability that he had never seen before, it led to a burning question.

"So if she isn’t human, then are you, or your team members also not human?"

Quinn scratched the back of his head, "Funny you say that..."
