Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Eldritch Crabs
"You’re right, it’s way too cold up here. I’ll come in and warm up," Bruce Lee said seriously, jumping off his flying sword and sitting down in the co-pilot’s seat.
Kevin closed the cockpit canopy and handed Bruce Lee a cup of hot coffee. He had traded for it on the black market.
"Oh man, Kevin. How do you guys have everything? I haven’t tasted coffee in a whole month." Bruce Lee took a big gulp.
Seeing how desperate he looked, Kevin handed him a napkin and smiled. "Take it slow. We still have two more hours of flying to search another area."
Bruce Lee frowned. "This isn’t a good way to search. Don’t you have the ability to summon Eldritch Entities? Just call one out and ask it."
Kevin was about to make fun of him for being naive.
But then a lightbulb went off in his head.
Wait. Why not ask?
That’s actually a good idea.
So Kevin picked up the loudspeaker and shouted, "All you bastards, scumbags, and sons of bitches on this sea - get your asses over here right now!"
The moment he said that, the sea around them started to boil.
Kevin slowed down the aircraft and carefully watched the Eldritch Entity groups rising from the water.
The Eldritch Entities he had summoned couldn’t talk.
In fact, most of them didn’t even have minds of their own. They were chaotic, crazy, and bloodthirsty - driven only by basic instincts. So there was no way to communicate with them.
But Kevin could still tell from the types of Eldritch Entities around him whether there was an evil god’s clan nearby.
The logic was simple.
Just like the area where they had run into the human-faced wasps before - around that sea, there were almost no other Eldritch Entities alive except for the human-faced wasp species.
So by checking how many different types of Eldritch Entities were in the surrounding waters, Kevin could basically tell if there was a powerful group nearby.
Using this method, Kevin could quickly rule out islands within dozens of square miles.
It saved him a ton of time.
But Kevin wasn’t satisfied yet. He launched a bunch of drones, sending them flying in all directions. He could now control drones up to a kilometer away from him.
Every drone had a speaker installed on it.
They broadcasted Kevin’s voice, and those sounds controlled the Eldritch Entities in the surrounding waters.
By just flying around the area once, Kevin could basically see how many types of Eldritch Entities were nearby.
Using this method, Kevin sailed for another hour.
Finally, he noticed that the number of Eldritch Entity groups following behind him was starting to shrink.
Found them!
Kevin excitedly slapped Bruce Lee on the shoulder.
Bruce Lee was licking his fingers in the co-pilot’s seat - he had just finished another burger.
Kevin looked at his greedy expression and frowned. "Wipe your hands. We’re about to get to work."
"Get to work?" Bruce Lee looked at Kevin in surprise.
He followed Kevin’s gaze and saw a swarm of Eldritch crabs chasing after their carrier aircraft.
These giant crabs were about the size of trucks. Their hard, long crab legs were covered in blade-like spikes.
Unlike the Eldritch Entities Kevin had summoned before, these Eldritch crabs seemed to have some kind of mental resistance.
Kevin could only keep them following by swearing at them nonstop.
The moment Kevin stopped, these Eldritch crabs would start to struggle.
Most of the time, it only took two or three minutes for them to break free from Kevin’s control.
Clearly, there was another commander behind these Eldritch crabs. That guy was fighting Kevin for control.
Realizing this, Bruce Lee instinctively reached for the flying sword on his back. "Time to fight?"
Kevin nodded. "Of course. But first, let’s get the ’Daddy’ Cannon to catch up. We need to find their hideout first."
Kevin sent his location coordinates to Toti on the "Daddy" Cannon, then kicked Bruce Lee straight out of the cockpit.
He himself stepped onto the "Wheels of Flame & Wind" and hovered in midair.
As for the carrier aircraft that had been flying just moments ago, Kevin had already stored it away in his [mechanical kingdom].
"What are you doing?" Bruce Lee rubbed his butt, standing on his flying sword with a face full of complaints.
Kevin grinned and pointed at the army of Eldritch crabs below. "Now I command you - go home!"
At his command, the group of Eldritch crabs actually obeyed Kevin and started charging in one direction.
"Move it! You guys haven’t eaten or what? Stop dragging your feet!"
Kevin and Bruce Lee followed behind, cursing the whole way.
Soon, they arrived at a coral reef area.
For miles around, there was nothing but coral reefs rising less than a meter above the sea surface.
Looking at the colorful corals, Bruce Lee’s mood lifted. "What a beautiful evening! Back in the day, this view would have been a famous tourist attraction."
Kevin shot him a look and snorted. "Take a closer look. Those aren’t corals at all."
Bruce Lee was stunned. He turned his head to look.
As they got closer to the reefs, Bruce Lee’s face instantly turned pale.
Those colorful "corals" were actually molted crab shells.
The shells reflected the seawater, giving off colors that looked like corals.
Seeing this, Bruce Lee gasped. "Oh my god. Miles and miles of crab shells. How many Eldritch crabs are there around here?"
The moment he finished speaking, the sea surface suddenly began to boil. Transparent bubbles rose up from the water.
Kevin watched the bubbles cautiously and raised his gun to fire.
With a bang, the bullet hit one of the bubbles.
The bubble burst, and at the same time, a terrible explosion happened.
The blast tore apart a bunch of nearby bubbles, setting off a chain reaction of explosions.
Kevin and Bruce Lee were both thrown back by the shockwave from the explosions.
They had to retreat a full five hundred meters before they could steady themselves.
Bruce Lee looked shaken.
He was panting heavily, one hand on his chest. "Good thing you set them off early, or we’d both be dead right now."
The moment he finished speaking, the water beneath their feet started to boil again.
More bubbles rose into the air.
Bruce Lee’s face went pale, and he cursed, "Oh crap!"
He quickly turned his flying sword around and got out of the area.
Kevin stepped on the [Wheels of Flame & Wind] and dodged as well.
With what he just learned, he flew all the way to five hundred meters away before firing his gun and setting off that patch of bubble bombs.
But after this explosion, the entire sea surface around them started to boil.
As far as Kevin could see, the water was covered in rising bubbles.
When Bruce Lee saw this, he slapped his thigh. "Damn it! We need to get out of here fast, or we’re not gonna make it."
Kevin snorted and started yelling again. "All of you, get the hell out here!"
At his command, shadows of all shapes and sizes began to appear beneath the sea.
Then, the Eldritch crabs surfaced one after another.
And from the middle of their mouths, bubbles were still shooting up like crazy.
Seeing this, Kevin narrowed his eyes and gave another order. "All of you, shut the hell up!"
The moment he said that, the Eldritch crabs actually stopped.
But not even five seconds later, a sharp roar came from beneath the sea.
The sound waves sent ripples spreading across the water’s surface.
Then, the Eldritch crabs that had been obeying Kevin just a moment ago became furious.
They waved their claws and started blowing bubbles like crazy.
Found it!
Kevin let out a cold laugh. "You think you’re the only ones who know how to blow things up?"
With that, Kevin waved his hand, and suddenly five thousand drones appeared in the sky.
Hanging beneath each drone were strings of grenades. Under Kevin’s command, the grenades rained down into the sea like falling raindrops
Then explosions swept across miles of sea.
The Eldritch crabs that had been making bubbles beneath Kevin’s feet were torn to pieces by the terrifying blast.
Not far away, Bruce Lee, who had been looking for a chance to run, was stunned. "Holy crap! This guy’s no Survivor. He’s a warlord wearing a Survivor’s skin."
After that, Bruce Lee used his mental power to scan the seafloor ten meters deep.
After making sure not a single Eldritch crab was still alive, he slowly moved closer to Kevin, wanting to drag him away and escape. "Let’s go. I’ve got a bad feeling. That thing under the sea that made that noise is about to come out."
But Kevin shook him off again. He glanced at Bruce Lee and warned him, "Get ready to fight."
Bruce Lee almost lost his balance. "You’re not seriously planning to fight the boss here, are you? Trust me. With a group of Eldritch crabs this big, their leader is not something we can take on."
"I once ran into a boss that commanded over a thousand Eldritch Entities. I fought that thing for a whole day and night and almost died. And now you’re picking a fight with a boss that commands at least ten thousand Eldritch Entities. I’m not about to go die with you."
With that, Bruce Lee turned to leave. But before he could fly a hundred meters, a huge crab leg shot up from under the sea.
The leg was like a twenty-meter-long spike, heading straight for Bruce Lee.
"Damn it!" Bruce Lee quickly tried to steer his flying sword away, but he was too slow to dodge.
With no other choice, he jumped off his sword, formed a hand seal, and growled, "Fine, you think I’m scared of you?"
The moment he said that, his flying sword suddenly sped up.
Then the one sword split into sixty-four, forming a sword formation that slammed straight into the crab leg.
Clang, clang, clang - the sounds of impact rang out one after another.
