Chapter 31: Chapter 29: A Gold Drop
"Sacrifice Agility, and max it out!" Shen Xing chose without hesitation.
The Demon statue’s stony eyes suddenly lit up, staring at him as if it had come to life, its gaze filled with scrutiny.
A peculiar power shot from the statue’s eyes and bored into Shen Xing’s body.
But just as when he used his Talent, the moment this power reached his legs, it froze.
Just a moment later, it swiftly receded.
Glancing at his attribute panel, Shen Xing saw his Agility Attribute was still 0.
The Demon statue also returned to its inert state.
Shen Xing was a little confused. ’What’s going on? Did the sacrifice fail?’
He was silent for a moment before his expression cleared.
’After all, I’ve already used this loophole to exploit my Talent.’
’This Demon statue seems to be a completely different mechanism from my Talent, so it’s only natural that it failed.’
Just as he was preparing to turn and leave, the statue began to vibrate violently.
VMMMM—
A golden light flashed, and a golden blueprint materialized out of thin air in the statue’s outstretched, pitch-black claws.
’A gold drop... No way!’
Shen Xing’s breath hitched, his mind reeling in disbelief.
From the guides on the forums, he had learned that the weapons, items, and blueprints of this world were all graded by Quality.
White (Common) → Green (Fine) → Blue (Excellent) → Purple (Rare) → Gold (Precious) → Orange (Epic).
The higher the Quality, the better the Attributes, and the more precious the item.
And a Gold-Quality blueprint was an extremely precious treasure, even for High Level Lords.
’Of course, I don’t have it in my hands yet. I can’t be sure if it’s Gold-Quality. I might be getting my hopes up for nothing.’
With a touch of apprehension, he took the blueprint.
[Obtained: Hero Altar Blueprint (Gold)]
...
’Holy crap, it really is.’
Shen Xing’s heart pounded with excitement. This was the first Gold-Quality item he had obtained since the game started.
’This sacrifice was an insane profit!’
’No, you could even call it a risk-free windfall.’
After all, he hadn’t given up anything to get this blueprint. The feeling of getting something for nothing was incredible.
’And according to Xia Wanyin, there seems to be more than one Demon statue in this world.’
’Doesn’t that mean I can endlessly exploit the Demon statues, just like I do with "Sacrificial Evolution"?’
"Starfire, what did you get?" Xia Wanyin immediately came closer to ask.
"A blueprint. I think it’s called a Hero Altar or something," Shen Xing replied casually.
"Oh, so it was a blueprint," Xia Wanyin said, nodding.
A moment later, it seemed to register, and she gasped. "Wait, what did you say? It’s really a Hero Altar!?"
Her tone was filled with disbelief, as if she needed him to confirm it one more time.
"Yeah. Is that something special?" Shen Xing asked.
"Oh my god! You really don’t know what a Hero Altar is!"
Xia Wanyin’s voice trembled slightly. "That’s a Gold-Quality building blueprint! It can be used to resurrect Heroes in your territory. Its Effect is incredibly powerful!"
"Not even every Extraordinary Level or Expert Level Lord has one!"
Shen Xing was secretly shocked to hear this.
’After all, the ability to resurrect a Hero alone proves this blueprint’s value.’
"You’ve struck it rich, Starfire!"
Xia Wanyin said excitedly, "If you were willing to trade it, a lot of people would offer an astonishing price."
"I think I’ll pass. I want to keep it for myself," Shen Xing replied without a second thought.
’Are you kidding me? There’s no way I’d sell such an important building.’
’If one of my Heroes falls in the future, I can use this to resurrect them.’
"That’s true. Most people would keep a blueprint like this for themselves," Xia Wanyin agreed with a nod.
Shen Xing stored the blueprint in his personal backpack, then turned his gaze to the statue, which had now gone completely dark.
Then, a Spiritual Hand materialized and slammed down with force.
CRASH...
The altar collapsed with a deafening roar, crumbling into a pile of black stones.
With a wave of his hand, he swept up all the fragments and stored them in his backpack.
Hearing the commotion, Xia Wanyin understood what had happened. The corners of her thin lips twitched.
Meanwhile, the Beastman demolition team had finished its work.
After the better part of an hour, they had nearly dismantled the entire village.
More than a dozen houses had been reduced to rubble. They hadn’t even spared the floor tiles, stripping everything clean.
Now, piles of black Wood and stone, along with other assorted materials, were stacked into small mountains—a rather spectacular sight.
Hellish Roar reported, "Lord, while dismantling the houses, we discovered a basement. We found a good deal of supplies inside."
"If not for your foresight, we would have almost missed it."
The other Beastmen also looked at their Lord with admiration.
Shen Xing: "?"
’What? The village had a basement?’
Though surprised, he maintained a calm expression, as if everything was going according to plan.
"Well done. Give me the supplies you found."
"Yes, sir!" Hellish Roar came forward respectfully, carrying a large bag.
[Obtained: Food x1654]
[Obtained: Bone Fruit x2]
[Obtained: Blood Fruit x1]
[Obtained: Brain Fruit x1]
[Obtained: Black Iron x432]
[Obtained: Black Crystal x21]
[Obtained: Large Beast Trap Blueprint (Blue)]
[Obtained: Frost Gem (Purple)]
...
Shen Xing was pleasantly surprised as he watched the loot notifications flash before his eyes.
The one thousand six hundred-plus units of Food alone would be enough to sustain his territory for some time.
The Food provided by the system was almost gone, so this haul came as a huge relief.
A satisfied smile spread across Shen Xing’s face as he began storing the materials on the ground in his backpack.
But he had only collected about half when his backpack filled up.
It couldn’t be helped. A Lord’s starting backpack only had twenty slots, and each slot could only hold one type of item.
Items of the same type could be stacked up to 40 units per slot.
But looking at the remaining Wood and stone slabs on the ground, he felt it was a shame to leave them behind.
"We need to get out of here."
Xia Wanyin cautioned. "The commotion from your fight was too loud. It might attract other players from the area."
"Players?" Shen Xing asked, surprised. "There are other players around here?"
"Yes. I’ve run into two or three other players recently. And... some of them weren’t exactly friendly," Xia Wanyin said, her expression a little strained.
Shen Xing’s eyes narrowed. He knew they had to leave quickly. "Everyone grab some Wood or stone. Carry as much as you can. We’re moving out."
"Yes, Boss!"
The Beastmen all squatted down, each hoisting a few stone blocks or door planks onto their shoulders.
He even made use of the Skeleton Archers, tying a few planks to their shoulders.
Then, Shen Xing lit the Horse Lantern and led his heavily burdened party into the depths of the thick Fog.
...
...
「Meanwhile, in a clearing several hundred meters from Sickness Village.」
An orange-yellow light dispersed the surrounding Fog, carving out an isolated space and illuminating an entire party of players.
A young man with Western features, short brown hair, and clad in Light Armor stood at the head of the party.
He held a peculiar Monocular Telescope, his gaze fixed on the entrance to Sickness Village.
A peculiar magical glow swirled across the lens, somehow allowing it to pierce the Fog and clearly reveal the party at the village entrance.
"I didn’t expect to find other players from the Hua Country around here, aside from that woman."
The brown-haired young man looked to the cloaked woman beside him. "Reina, what do you think?"
The woman lifted her head, revealing a pale face and a shock of red hair hidden beneath her hood. "Anyone who can conquer Sickness Village is very powerful."
"And that woman with him is no pushover, either. If we move on them now, our chances of victory are slim."
"Oh?" the young man said, surprised. "Even with my Three-Star Werewolf Legion and you, we can’t take them?"
The red-haired woman’s brow furrowed slightly, but she remained silent.
"Is that right..." the young man murmured thoughtfully. "Then let’s find a way to pick them off one by one."
"Follow them. Find the location of their territory."
With a slight wave of his hand, the dim, yellow light began to move.
