Building a Perfect Territory in the Mist
Chapter 32 - 30: Discovering the Silver Holy Land, Sharing the MapChapter 32: Chapter 30: Discovering the Silver Holy Land, Sharing the Map
"You just said you’ve run into other players around here besides me?"
In the thick Fog, Shen Xing held up his Horse Lantern and looked at Xia Wanyin beside him.
"That’s right."
Xia Wanyin nodded. "But none of them were from Hua Country. They’re from other countries, and they’re not very friendly."
"Especially this one guy from Europe named Gideon."
"He often wanders the area, treating other players like prey. Quite a few Novice Lords have already fallen victim to him."
As she spoke, an indignant look crossed her face. "That guy tried to ambush me last time, but I sensed him beforehand and drove him off."
"So you need to be careful, too."
Shen Xing nodded in understanding. This was indeed an important piece of intelligence.
He had previously thought he was the only player near his territory and that running into Xia Wanyin was just an accident.
It seemed now that there were quite a few players in this region, they just all came from other countries.
’Looks like I’ll have to strengthen my territory’s defenses when I get back.’
After all, there was such an unstable element nearby, and from the sound of it, he was quite strong.
Of course, the chances of finding someone else’s territory in this vast Fog were minuscule.
But it was better to be safe than sorry.
After that, the two groups continued onward.
They took turns using the [Horse Lantern] to extend their exploration time.
What surprised Shen Xing was that even though Xia Wanyin was blind, her sense of direction in the Fog was even sharper than a normal person’s.
She walked at the very front of the group, occasionally leading them along different routes to avoid all sorts of complex terrain.
Shen Xing gazed at her slender figure from behind, a thoughtful look in his eyes.
After traveling for over half an hour, Xia Wanyin came to a stop.
Right then, a sacred scene unfolded before Shen Xing.
Within the dense Fog, a silver-white light swirled, partitioning off an independent area several hundred meters in diameter.
And in the center of this area, an enormous tree, silver-white all over and emitting a soft glow, stood majestically.
The entire tree looked as if it were carved from pure silver, shimmering with a metallic texture.
Its sky-blotting canopy was like a giant silver umbrella, sheltering the land below and filled with a sacred aura.
Beneath the giant tree, square plots of wheat fields were laid out like a chessboard, upon which grew stalks of silver wheat.
The ears of wheat hung heavy on their stalks, and one could even see the plump, silver grains inside through the husks.
Beside the wheat fields were many hunched figures dressed in coarse linen clothes.
They were bent over, holding watering cans and hoes, watering and fertilizing the fields.
[You have discovered a special area: Silver Holy Land...]
...
"Silver Holy Land... A place like this actually exists?" Shen Xing’s eyes widened as he stared in astonishment at the scene before him.
"Yeah, it’s amazing, isn’t it?"
Xia Wanyin’s face was filled with delight, like a little girl who had just discovered treasure. "I was exploring in the Fog and sensed a sacred aura coming from here from a long way off. That’s how I found this place."
"See that big tree? It’s called the Silver Ancient Tree. They say that wherever it stands, the Fog cannot encroach, and the land is suitable for plants to grow."
"In this world, there are also Bronze Ancient Trees that can spawn large mineral veins, and the even rarer Golden Ancient Trees."
"Silver Ancient Tree, Golden Ancient Tree..." Shen Xing murmured, repeating the words. This was the first time he had heard of such things.
"Then what about the wheat growing down there, and those workers?" he pressed.
"The wheat is called Moonlight Wheat. It’s a special crop with a very high yield. It’s said that Food made from this wheat can also slightly improve one’s Constitution."
Xia Wanyin replied, "As for those workers, I have no idea. My sis—... I couldn’t find any information about them on the forums."
Shen Xing nodded in understanding, his gaze falling upon the vast wheat fields. He couldn’t help but feel a stir in his heart.
The Beastmen had huge appetites to begin with. For now, he could barely sustain them with the supplies gathered from exploration.
But as he recruited more and more Soldier Types later on, this method definitely wouldn’t be enough.
This was a problem that all Lords would inevitably face as they developed.
A powerful territory couldn’t just focus on expanding its army; otherwise, there would be no way to feed so many people.
Construction, farming, animal husbandry, logistics, and mining all had to keep pace.
’If I could transplant this wheat to my territory, I’d have a stable source of Food.’
However, compared to the crops, Shen Xing was more interested in those workers.
’My territory is in dire need of common laborers. I need people for both mining and farming.’
As if sensing Shen Xing’s excitement, Xia Wanyin asked expectantly, "So, what do you say? Should we go for it?"
Shen Xing didn’t reply, instead continuing to observe the Silver Holy Land.
Beside the group of workers stood many burly, humanoid creatures with crimson eyes and black energy radiating from their bodies.
They held a leather whip in one hand and reins in the other. The other end of the reins was tied to seven or eight Evil Dogs.
