Building a Perfect Territory in the Mist
Chapter 33 - 30: Discovering the Silver Holy Land, Sharing the MapChapter 33: Chapter 30: Discovering the Silver Holy Land, Sharing the Map
But there wasn’t just one Fallen Warden here; they all looked like trouble.
’This won’t be easy...’
Shen Xing mentally assessed the combat strength on both sides. Even with Xia Wanan’s squad of Light Elves, their chances of victory were less than sixty percent.
Which, when rounded down, was practically zero.
Too dangerous!
Just then, a dull clopping of hooves echoed from the base of the Silver Giant Tree.
CLOP... CLOP...
Shen Xing followed the sound with his eyes and beheld an astonishing sight.
A warhorse with a burly frame, nearly the size of a full-grown elephant, was approaching them.
Atop its broad back sat a figure over two meters tall, holding a massive Knight’s Lance.
The Knight and his steed were both clad in full Silver battle armor, giving them the appearance of a heavy tank. Their presence was overwhelming.
Their appearance alone was enough to make one’s heart pound with fear.
[Fallen Great Tree Knight (Enhanced)]
[Level: Level 9]
[Potential: Boss ★]
[Attributes: Power 176, Spirit 135, Agility 154, Constitution 212]
[Skills: Thorn Spike, Stump Charge, Dark Shield, Withered and Withered]
[Talent: Fallen Body]
[Bonds - Fallen Legion (Active)]
[Note: He was once a noble Silver Moon Knight, but has now become a monster that has lost its sanity.]
...
’Holy crap, there’s an even tougher one?’
A Level 9, One-Star Boss, and an enhanced version at that!
That’s like a terrifying entity at the peak of sixth grade, about to enter junior high!
And all these Attributes in the triple digits... isn’t that a little too insane?
Shen Xing suspected that even if he leveled his Hellish Roar to Level 9, its Attributes probably wouldn’t even reach half of this Great Tree Knight’s.
Add to that its powerful Skills and gear that armed it to the teeth...
’Can’t afford to mess with it. Absolutely not!’
"Starfire, what do you think?"
Xia Wanyin asked, her face full of expectation, "Let’s do it together! We can split all the loot evenly afterward!"
"Uh..." Shen Xing asked with a strange expression, "Are you sure you want to fight this Great Tree Knight, and that pile of Wardens next to him?"
"Yep."
"What if we die?"
"Don’t worry, I have even stronger allies back in my territory. I’m pretty confident I can hold off that Big Tree Guard for a while."
Xia Wanyin said confidently, "You just need to take out that group of Wardens while I’m holding off the Big Tree Guard, and then come help me."
"As long as we coordinate well, we have at least a forty percent Success Rate."
’A forty percent Success Rate? How is that any different from a suicide mission?’
Shen Xing took a deep breath and shook his head. "No, that’s too dangerous."
"I think we should go back and turtle... I mean, go back and develop for a while, then come back and give this a try later."
"Ah... how long will we have to wait?" Xia Wanyin looked at him, a little disappointed.
"I don’t know, but there’s no way we can do it today."
Shen Xing refused decisively, then glanced at the Horse Lantern in his hand. "The lantern oil is almost out. We have to go."
Regret appeared on Xia Wanyin’s face. She could tell he had made up his mind.
’This man is way too cautious,’ she thought. ’I even offered to take on the most dangerous enemy myself, and he’s still unwilling to make a move.’
’But my sister said that only people like him can survive for long in the Land of Mist.’
"Then can I form an alliance with you and share maps?" Xia Wanyin asked again.
"An alliance... share maps?"
Shen Xing was confused again. He had never heard of these functions.
"Yep."
Xia Wanyin nodded. "As long as we’re allies, we’ll be able to see the location of each other’s territory on the map."
"On top of that, any areas your ally has explored, as well as any resource points they’ve captured, will show up on your map."
"But you can only see them; you don’t have permission to interact with them."
Shen Xing was tempted when he heard this.
After all, Xia Wanyin had started the game earlier than him, and she seemed to have some kind of Special Ability, so she must have explored a much larger area.
But then, he hesitated.
This would mean she’d know the location of his territory.
Although the woman hadn’t shown any ill intent so far, he knew he couldn’t let his guard down.
Xia Wanyin seemed to understand his concerns and added, "Oh, right! I can also help you find all the resource points around your territory later."
"No problem. The resource points don’t matter. The main thing is that I want an ally like you," Shen Xing said righteously.
Xia Wanyin: "..."
"Hehehe, you really are an interesting person."
She let out a crisp laugh, then rolled up her sleeve, revealing an arm as fair and smooth as jade.
On her wrist was the mark of a Fog Flower, shimmering between reality and illusion.
Then, Xia Wanyin walked over and tapped Shen Xing’s arm.
A warm sensation spread from the point of contact.
Before Shen Xing could react, large swathes of Fog on his mini-map dispersed, revealing many previously unexplored areas.
Shen Xing could see vast forests, villages, and even the outlines of ancient buildings.
In addition, Green dots twinkled on the map like a field of stars.
These Green dots represented resource points: Sacrificial Towers, mines, and so on.
Compared to the four or five Green dots on his own map, Xia Wanyin had already lit up nearly twenty resource points.
Shen Xing was secretly speechless, becoming even more certain that this woman had some kind of Special Ability that allowed her to pinpoint resource points in the Fog.
"Huh? Our territories are actually pretty close, only two or three kilometers apart," Xia Wanyin said with a soft sound of surprise.
Shen Xing glanced at the map too. The two white dots weren’t far from each other.
One was to the west, the other to the southwest.
"Aren’t you blind? How can you see this map information?" Shen Xing couldn’t help but ask.
"Because this game is very user-friendly. It accommodates special groups like us."
Xia Wanyin explained, "Many of the system prompts appear directly in my mind."
"I see..."
Shen Xing nodded, then internally complained again, ’How come I haven’t experienced any of this game’s "user-friendliness"?’
’Freaking hell, not being able to stand up in the game is one thing, but it even set my Agility Attribute to 0.’
’If I hadn’t activated the [Sacrificial Evolution] Talent and exploited a bug, I probably wouldn’t have survived for more than three days.’
"Well, I’m heading back then."
Shen Xing said his goodbyes, already eager to return to his territory and check the spoils from his attack on the Sickness Village.
He picked up his Horse Lantern and disappeared into the Fog with his Beastman Squad.
Xia Wanyin remained where she was, watching his retreating figure.
A moment later, she also left with her squad of Light Elves, heading in a different direction.
「Meanwhile.」
In a detached manor with a courtyard, by the side of a certain lake.
A tall, slender girl in a simple dress sat up in bed.
Her eyes were closed, her long eyelashes trembling, but she showed no signs of confusion from being shrouded in darkness.
Feeling her way along the wall, she navigated out of the room with practiced ease and went to the living room on the first floor.
"Lingyin, Lingyin," the girl called out softly.
"Wanyin, why did you come out on your own?"
A woman with a cascade of black hair, wearing a black uniform and a pair of glasses on her delicate face, was leaning against the sofa.
"Sister, I met a very special player in the game today," Xia Wanyin said excitedly. "And I even became allies with him!"
"A player?"
The woman with long, straight black hair frowned slightly. "Didn’t I tell you not to casually interact with other players in the game?"
"This game isn’t governed by any laws. There are a lot of vicious and desperate people in there."
Her tone became stern. "Besides, you’re on the border of the Videng Kingdom right now. If something were to happen, even I wouldn’t be able to get there in time to save you."
Faced with the scolding from the woman, Xia Wanyin timidly lowered her head. "I... I understand, Lingyin."
Seeing her like this, the woman’s expression softened a little. "Alright, I’m not blaming you."
"Tell me about it. What was this player you met like?"
With her head still lowered, Xia Wanyin recounted the day’s events.
And when she heard that the other player was also disabled and had even obtained a Hero Altar Blueprint, a flicker of surprise finally crossed her eyes...
