Building a Perfect Territory in the Mist
Chapter 43 - 39: Evolve Again, Hell VanguardChapter 43: Chapter 39: Evolve Again, Hell Vanguard
"Lord, what are your orders?"
Hellish Roar strode over and said respectfully.
Shen Xing took out the [Inferior Demon Essence Blood], explained the side effects and risks of fusion, and told him to consider it for himself.
"There’s no need to consider it, my Lord!"
Hellish Roar replied without hesitation, "Beastmen never fear pain. To protect our Lord’s honor and lead the Beastmen to victory, I am willing to endure anything!"
Shen Xing looked at his determined gaze and nodded solemnly. "Very good. You are a brave warrior."
"Begin the fusion now. If anything feels wrong, stop immediately."
"Yes, sir!"
Hellish Roar extended his large hand, uncorked the vial, and poured the drop of murky blood onto his broad palm.
Immediately after, the blood slowly vanished, as if it had been absorbed into his body.
At first, Hellish Roar didn’t seem to feel anything special.
But just a few seconds later, he suddenly trembled, his resolute expression instantly replaced by pain.
His skin turned beet red in just a few seconds. His veins bulged and squirmed all over his body, as if countless worms were crawling through them.
He looked as if he had been burned through by lava, radiating an aura of destruction.
"ROAR... ROAR..."
A pained growl escaped Hellish Roar’s lips as he curled up on the ground, convulsing. His fingers dug deep into his own flesh.
"SHLICK—"
The sound of flesh tearing rang out. Two gashes suddenly ripped open on his back, and a pair of pitch-black bat wings began to grow.
This only caused Hellish Roar more pain. The whites of his eyes were showing, as if he was about to pass out completely.
Shen Xing’s brow furrowed slightly. He was worried Hellish Roar wouldn’t be able to hold on.
Several nearby Beastmen noticed the commotion and turned to look.
Seeing Hellish Roar’s extreme agony, yet his refusal to give in, a sense of respect rose in the hearts of all the Beastmen.
Even Blood Roar, who had always wanted to surpass him, couldn’t help but tighten his grip on his axe handle, his expression grave.
"Roar... Our Lord said that a powerful warrior is forged in blood and fire!"
Forcing himself to endure the pain, Hellish Roar slowly pushed himself up from the ground. "We are Beastmen! We will never yield!"
Under his extreme willpower, the destructive aura seemed to be forcibly suppressed, and his turbulent blood quickly calmed.
His red-hot body gradually cooled, releasing puffs of steam.
[Congratulations! Your territory’s soldier type, ’Hellish Roar’, has successfully fused with ’Inferior Demon Essence Blood’ and completed his bloodline evolution.]
[Class: Beastman Fighter has been promoted to Hell Vanguard. All Attributes +30%!]
[Learned Bloodline Skills: Hellfire (Passive), Evil Fire Self-immolation (Active)]
...
When the notifications ended, the transformed Hellish Roar slowly walked over.
His figure had become leaner, his limbs powerfully built. Eerie Blue patterns had appeared on his upper body.
The pair of black wings on his back beat gently. Steam rose from his body, making him look like a Demon General who had just emerged from the depths of hell.
"My Lord, I have not failed your expectations." Hellish Roar knelt on one knee, his voice steady and strong.
A look of appreciation appeared in Shen Xing’s eyes. "Well done."
"Although you fused with the bloodline of an Inferior Demon, remember this."
"Strength doesn’t come from external forces, but from one’s heart and will. True Power originates from within."
Upon hearing this, Hellish Roar’s whole body shuddered. The Blue pattern between his brows flickered with a faint light, and an aura of wisdom emanated from him.
Beside them, Blood Roar also muttered to himself, a look of shock in his eyes as the red pattern between his brows lit up.
Shen Xing was slightly startled. ’I just said a couple of lines off the cuff to maintain my grand image as a Lord.’
’Could these two Beastmen have been inspired again and entered a state of Satori?’
’Hmm, as expected of the two paragons under my command. Their comprehension is truly remarkable.’
Shen Xing was pleased. He then opened Hellish Roar’s attribute panel to check his new Skill Attributes.
[Hellfire (Passive): All attacks apply the ’Hell Scorching’ Effect, dealing continuous damage to the enemy and reducing their armor by 3%. Stacks up to 5 times.
Duration: 12 seconds]
(Note: "Even a stick can become a poker for the fires of hell in my hands!")
...
[Evil Fire Self-immolation (Active): Activate the Hellfire within your body, preventing a single target from casting Skills for the next 8 seconds and continuously inflicting Hellfire Self-immolation damage.
This Skill cannot be dispelled by normal skills, but there is a certain chance it can be resisted.
Cooldown: 10 minutes.]
(Note: "The flames from hell will incinerate your bodies!")
...
’It reduces armor and applies a continuous burn to enemies?’
’The power of these two Skills is explosive.’
’Especially the second active skill, [Evil Fire Self-immolation]. It can actually prevent an enemy from using skills for a full 8 seconds!’
’And it can’t be dispelled by normal skills, which is equivalent to a High Level silence.’
’That’s long enough for Hellish Roar to unleash a full rotation of skills, and for other soldier types to get in several rounds of damage as well.’
’Excellent. The improvement from this Essence Blood fusion is huge. This is great,’ Shen Xing thought with pleasant surprise.
At that moment, the two Arrow Towers at the village entrance suddenly began attacking automatically, the sound of arrows whistling through the air.
"Enemy attack! Prepare for battle!"
Blood Roar snapped out of his state of Satori and shouted.
The entire territory entered a combat State in an instant.
A dozen or so Beastmen, carrying Stone Axes, ran quickly to the village entrance.
Six Skeleton Archers drew their bowstrings, and Dark Arrows quickly formed.
Shen Xing, also pushing his wheelchair, raised his right hand. A ball of eerie Green Fireball began to coalesce in the air.
However, as everyone stood ready, no monsters emerged from the Fog. Instead, they saw a ball of yellow light steadily approaching.
A troop of Light Elves, their bodies composed entirely of elements, stepped out of the Fog, surrounding a woman in a white dress as they walked slowly toward them.
At the front of the group were two exceptionally burly Light Elf giants. Their right hands had morphed into light shields, deflecting the incoming arrows.
"What are you doing here?"
Shen Xing was stunned for a moment, then deactivated the Arrow Towers’ automatic attacks.
"Of course it’s me."
Xia Wanyin’s eyes were vacant, but she wore an ’of-course-it-is’ smile. "Didn’t I promise yesterday that I’d take you to explore the nearby resource points?"
Shen Xing remembered, but he hadn’t expected her to come directly to his territory.
’Good thing, too. She almost got a taste of Hellfire on her backside.’
"Starfire, so this is your territory? Can I come in and have a look around?" Xia Wanyin asked, her face full of anticipation.
Shen Xing thought, ’What’s there to see? You’re blind, you can’t see anything anyway.’
But then he remembered he still needed her help finding resource points, so he nodded and said, "Alright. Stay there, I’ll come get you."
With that, he pushed his wheelchair along a specific path to Xia Wanyin’s side.
He then had her hold onto his wheelchair and led her into the territory.
After stepping into the village, the young woman in the white dress closed her eyes, seemingly sensing her surroundings.
"Huh? Such a rich Life Aura!"
Xia Wanyin seemed to have sensed something and said in surprise, "Starfire, do you have some kind of treasure in your territory? It gives me a very comfortable feeling."
Shen Xing knew she was talking about the Moon Well and answered casually.
"Wow! It’s actually that kind of mystical building!"
Xia Wanyin said excitedly, "I heard these buildings are extremely rare! Not even many of the Extraordinary Level Lords have one!"
"Starfire, Starfire, do you have any more Moon Wells? I can pay a high price for one!"
Shen Xing shook his head. "No more. I bought this one from the Player Association."
"Oh, alright..."
Xia Wanyin was a little disappointed, but she quickly perked up. "Oh, right, Starfire! Let’s add each other on Green Bubble. It’ll be easier to stay in touch."
’That’s a bit strange,’ Shen Xing thought.
But considering how close their territories were and that they had already formed an alliance, they would probably interact frequently in the future.
So he nodded and told her his Green Bubble number.
A moment later, the phone in his pocket vibrated.
He opened it to see a friend request.
’Bring Her Eyes’ has sent you a friend request.
The profile picture was a cartoon-style photo of two people. Two girls were leaning against each other, smiling at the camera.
Shen Xing glanced at Xia Wanyin beside him and tapped ’accept’.
As for how a blind person uses Green Bubble, it’s obviously because modern chat software has accessibility modes.
Coupled with AI iterations and voice functions, they can communicate just as smoothly.
"Okay, I’ve added you."
Xia Wanyin’s tone was cheerful. She then turned and said, "It’s still early. Let’s go explore for resource points in the Fog."
"Alright."
Shen Xing had the same idea. He still had a few hours of exploration time with his Horse Lantern today and didn’t want to waste them.
He then took Hellish Roar and half of his Beastman troops and headed for the village entrance.
Blood Roar and Dahou led the remaining forces, staying behind to guard the territory.
"WHOOSH..."
The Horse Lantern was lit, its orange-yellow light illuminating an area with a thirty-meter radius.
Shen Xing, in his wheelchair, was carried on the shoulder of a Beastman, with another five Beastmen following beside him.
Xia Wanyin was surrounded by a dozen or so Light Elves.
The group, totaling more than twenty people, held up the Horse Lantern and disappeared into the Fog.
Blood Roar and Dahou patrolled the area around the territory with the remaining Beastmen and Skeleton Soldiers.
...
...
「Meanwhile.」
In a clearing shrouded in dense fog, about several hundred meters from the territory, a brown-haired young man raised a Monocular Telescope, staring at the backs of Shen Xing’s group as they vanished. The corner of his mouth curled into a smirk.
"Heh heh... They’ve left. It’s our time to take the stage."
"I never expected this newcomer’s territory to have a Moon Well and two Unit Nests. This will be quite the score."
